Well, I know there is a body of college graduates who are sick of the gender and racial studies fields.
I think we all are. It's just that the gobby ones have the loudest voices
Not sure if I'd go that far, but yeah George Harrison was denied a lot of voice in the Beatles and he really shone through when he went solo. Still like Lennon's Imagine album especially "Jealous Guy".
I would, the album is quality. And there's just SO much on it - and Unlike John, George had the free rein to clear his backlog and put out the songs he had stored away since the early Beatle days. Meanwhile, John had to run laps to put Imagine together and it's only a 40 minute album, with junk tracks like "Oh Yoko" and "Crippled Inside" to fill it. (Disclaimer: Lennon's junk tracks are still miraculous.)
You can tell George had been a frustrated artist for a long time - and for good reason, he was a main event guy just like Lennon-McCartney. I personally think The Beatles made a mistake in NOT giving him more track time. Sgt Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour should have been a double album - because that would have given George a couple more EXTRA slots, in
addition to "Blue Jay Way" "Within You Without You" etc. Give him six rather than four.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Imagine album. But for me, George's album was the superior record. (I guess that has more to do with ME and my love for long, messy, complex albums.) As the 70s progressed though, John was the stronger soloist. Walls and Bridges and Double Fantasy are just masterpieces. Even Yoko scrubs up nice on Double Fantasy.
Paul McCartney and Wings on the other hand? Erm...
That's pretty cool. Happy birthday. Must be pretty cool to have vinyl records.
Cheers man.
Oh, they're not hard to pick up if you know where to look. If you have a favourite Beatles album it's worth seeking out. I bought the White Album (original 1968 version) for a cheaper price than the 2018 reprint. The old boys will sell their records dirt cheap to free up space in the shed for another lawnmower.
Yeah, especially someone like me who has some memory problems due to years of depression. Just wish I took more notes earlier, although many of my past thoughts are largely outdated
Hopefully a time comes when the writing works like medicine for you. For me, the cure lies within the craft. Whether I paint or write, it's my chance to do something to influence both my immediate and distant future. I wouldn't ever NOT do it now, it's energy giving.
Meditation would definitely be a good thing for you. Some of those old memories of yours need to float away in that proverbial balloon. They're not serving you - AND you'd free up a few hundred GB on the mental hard drive.
