Hi everyone. I'm an atheist from Santa Barbara, California. I was motivated to post here after something I read. I came across an article saying that in many parts of the US, there is a social stigma associated with atheism, to the extent that people won't admit to being atheist. That seems weird to me because in California it isn't like that at all. Anyway, I figured the antidote is to encourage dialog across the religious divide, and I can do that as well as anyone, so I looked up this forum and dropped in to say hi.

I'm coming off a really great weekend because here in Santa Barbara we have a wonderful late summer season that lasts well into October, with warm sunny beach weather – I spent the day in the ocean yesterday. Also, the local search and rescue team is training a new puppy, which I got to play with. (Unlike seeing eye dogs, you're generally allowed to play with search dogs because the whole point is for them to crave and seek out human contact.) Work is tough and I'm sick of the pandemic restrictions, but I still have a job, so I'm not going to complain about that.

Best wishes to everyone. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Hi TC;
welcome to CF; May the Lord Jesus guide you here as well as in the world; and may you find friends and what ever you need from the Lord here.

I do have a question for you; do you like music--Praise & Worship music?

I have found; in times of trouble; like we have with this CV-19; that listening to; and singing along to good Christian P&W music; can bring us closer to Jesus and His wonderful peace.

Well we have a new forum here at CF just for P&W music and at the top is a directory of other Christian music threads around CF; come and take a look!:wave:

I remember Santa Barbara! During the Summer when school was out, I used to ride along with my Dad when he would deliver rolls of fresh newspaper to the local printer, and boxes of potato chips to a warehouse down there. Welcome to CF!

No, I don't. I'm not particularly motivated by music of any kind. I listen to music sometimes when I jog, but Christian music is... not my choice. I am impressed by anyone who can make music, though. Are you a musician?

Yes; I use my vocal cords to sing praises to my Lord and Savior; Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
