• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I could but I don't think my insurance will cover that type of therapist. I'm probably better off talking to a pastor free of charge
Your insurance should cover them as long as they are licensed. There are therapists of all different faiths. They can't not cover someone because they are Christian (or Jewish or Muslim).

she specializes in OCD and anxiety but she dosen't know about hell
I haven't been to therapy myself, but according to what I've heard from other Christians, you don't need a Christian therapist to treat OCD, even religious OCD. The obsessive fear (whether it be of hell or some other religious topic, or of a non-religious topic) is not the issue; the OCD is. If your therapist is a good one, she should be able to help you create a plan for treating the OCD and exposing yourself to your fears without requiring you to do anything that would violate your true (not your obsessive!) beliefs. Have you talked to her about your current obsessive theme?

I meant about your fear of hell, and/or your other current obsessions. I'm curious about what she said, and how she would apply ERP therapy to this obsession.

There's really nothing she can do much for me about that. All she says is too continue taking meds and keep myself busy/occupied. I'm probably going to take a break from her since she really can't help me anymore

That's strange. If she knows how to treat OCD, she should be teaching you CBT and ERP strategies. Could you look into therapists who do phone/Skype sessions? I think Dr. Stephen Phillipson's office offers those options, and Dr. Ian Osborn offers coaching sessions via phone/online (and he's a Christian!). I'm sure there are others, too, but those are a couple that I know of offhand.
