I saw this on Facebook...

I am like a PR Rep (Public Relations Representative) for my husband.
  • When I speak well of him, it makes him look good.
  • When I speak poorly of him, it makes him look bad (and it makes me look bad, too).
  • My attitude reflects on him.
  • When I act in godly ways, it boosts his reputation.
  • When I act in hurtful, ugly ways, it hurts his reputation.
  • When I speak for him, people assume I am representing him accurately and tend to believe my assessment of him since I should know him better than anyone.

I'm sorry God for blasphemimg the Holy Spirit and playing games with my faith. I repent and am now taking a break from this gift and working on the fruit of the Spirit.

Have you ever done such a thing as insulted the Holy Spirit, though, Anthony? I thought I had committed that sin, too, once, and it scared the living hell out of me for a solid eight months, suffering from an extremely harmful form of obsessive-compulsive disorder. .... And then one day I realized, how absurd it was for me to think that I had done so, that it was the Spirit Who I had insulted that first day when I experienced a rush of overwhelming darkness that left me feeling weak from a sourness in my chest and lack of joy, and I yelled out "why do you try to take away my joy, Satan?!" ... and then I froze in fear of the thought that what if that was the Spirit who was trying to get a hold of me somehow, and i had just called Him Satan?!

See how easy it is to fall into such a trap? But as I alluded above, why would I honestly think that it was the Holy Spirit - the Comforter, Jesus Himself once called Him in the four gospels - who gave me that overwhelming negative feeling in the first place, when it actually felt like I was becoming ill and my joy was being sapped? So if anything, I had come close to insulting the Holy Spirit by even entertaining the notion that it was He who gave me that bad feeling, and not an evil spirit of some sort.

I say all this because your quoted post above reminds me of how I would act from time to time over the course of that 8 months suffering from Scrupulosity (a form of religious ocd) in response to fears and bad feelings that I had somehow done or said something to render myself unforgivable and condemned before God and Jesus Christ Who I knew that I believed in. I just don't want the same hellish and damnable disease of Scrupulosity to happen to you, brother, as I have seen it happen to myself eight years ago, and so many unfortunate others since then.

You have about as much chance of committing the unpardonable sin as you do of opening up the emergency door of a plane during flight. You could be at it for days, months, even years - but you'd still never get that door open.

If you rate Him over the enemy then it's an actual impossibility to commit it, no matter how much you convince yourself you've done it. If you're not letting go, then that's OCD - when in which case you need a two prong attack of cognitive behavioural therapy and sound teachings from a trusted pastor. (In fact your turmoil ALREADY rules out the possibility of the unpardonable sin ever being committed.)

Don't come here for advice, this is the worst place to look.

Wow, that's crazy. I hope that isn't the case. The theme is eerie because it mirrors some of the things we're experiencing now.

I just saw this in one of my Facebook groups. You can put it on Twitter. *lol

Yeah although given I haven't heard much about it since that initial rumor, so it probably isn't true. Also don't think Sony wants one of their flagship games throwing a large segment of the consumer base under the bus like that.

I've had a few of those scares when I was myself a Christian, even considered killing myself over it.. even though it doesn't really make sense at that point.

Wish I was able to work alongside Erin every day, that I would feel like this all the time, rather than just last night =>:piripi:

The fact she now has someone doesn't make you more awkward or emotionally guarded around her now?

I've never had that perspective on life. But ease can be misleading. I take a lot for granted because effort comes easy for me and I enjoy it.

Results are important. It allows you to gauge your actions to determine if the expense is worthwhile. If we only look at effort you'd have a lot of people working at things and getting nowhere. Competency can't wholly rest on it either. Some people are more efficient, more talented, etc. I don't believe in giving gold stars for showing up.

Your first couple of lines is exactly the point.

For some people, effort DOESN'T come easily. And just showing up is the first result on the road to many more. I'm talking about people who have just managed to pull themselves out of bed after long spells of PTSD, bipolar, or whatever. They're in the driveway about to pull out onto the street.

You, are somewhere out there amongst the glistening skyscrapers. I think they might even have your face superimposed on one of the buildings. You're the high flyer I described in an earlier post.

My mate (we'll call him Blank Frank) is on his way to the T-junction, about to begin the journey to the top.

It depends on where you are on the journey. Me, you, we're in a position where results are expected. . Blank Frank, well, he just needs to change gear in a minute. And that'll be enough.

Effort will lead to results through consistency. In my opinion, you can't do anything without consistency. The universe depends on it.

It's a dangerously misunderstood sin. It requires immediate action from a pastor, you can't just sit there and panic. It's unnecessary.

I was not one to put in any trust in a pastor.

Some situations require pastoral involvement. The behavior may be a result of mental health challenges, personal or familial beliefs, or spiritual affliction. They'd assess the case to determine the root cause. Self-deliverance (for spiritual ailments) isn't always an option.

Maybe for some, not me. As a kid and a teenager and a Christian I almost always held most pastors in contempt.

Why? Did you feel they were untrustworthy?

A mix of that, and wondering what made them so special.

I had a very particular version of Christianity too.
