Do not worry about the clothes you don't have, or about what you will eat, for your Heavenly Father knows that you need those things, rather seek the Kingdom of Heaven and store your treasures with Him.

I agree with Jeshu. The whole sum of it is that God Himself is our salvation. As to whether in this situation you are being prompted by HIM (or just the media) or not, I can't answer, but if you are indeed concerned and you should take action, here are some things I'd consider were I in your shoes. These are only suggestions for you to consider. In all things, pray, and in all you do, acknowledge HIM.

Is there anything about your spending habits that could be trimmed to allow for more food purchases? I'd call this the "beans and rice" idea. For me, if I'm willing to eat more beans, less meat, smaller portions, and allow myself fewer luxury foods, I can stretch my food budget to feed myself longer. I recommend reading up on how to combine vegetable proteins for the best nutrition and what kinds of foods give the best nutrition. Consider growing greens in a window if that's all you can do toward growing something fresh. I do, and I snack on the raw leaves while they are small.

Are there spots under the bed, behind the couch or chair, or other spots where you can tuck away spare dry foods, a supply of the most needful of canned items, and some storage water? Read up on how to safely store public water. Spare jars and bottles would work. Don't forget to rotate your stock of food and water, since everything has an expiration date.

If the electricity or gas were cut off to your home, do you have sufficient blankets, quilts, sleeping bags, or other forms of covers to sleep without freezing? If space is a problem, put those covers on top of the mattress and UNDER your bedsheet. That way they don't take up storage space, provide extra padding for your bed, and are there if you need them.

I question the value of pets in an extreme emergency, but that's a touch decision to make - at least it was for me. I gave this one a lot of thought. For me, it had become a matter of not replacing the family dog when he died. And he did die recently in his well advanced years. While I miss him, I have to admit I feel freer now thinking that I don't have to try to justify the cost of his maintenance were I faced with feeding myself and another human or myself and the dog. That's pretty extreme thinking, I'll admit.

When I read the Bible, I see humans have gone through some pretty extreme situations when God judged their evil nations, and ours are doing much the same thing as those nations. While I stand against the perversion of justice, the murder of the innocent, the immorality and the others errors our countries are involved in, and hope that we see the error and repent. I know the Lord knows how to preserve His people in the midst of His judgment of the evils, so my heart is not faint. But I do think it is sensible to prepare for concerning times in the same way we prepare for bad weather - just for a longer time.

This isn't a comprehensive list. It's just what came to mind when I read your post. We are called to overcome, so I encourage you to draw near to God by reading what He says about things, learn about His mercy, lovingkingness, righteousness, and justice, to pray about all things committing all your concerns to Him Who loved you and sent His Son to take the penalty of all your errors, and to have confidence that He means what He says and doesn't change.

Start buying a store of non-perishable food. I have a few month's supply of beans and rice. I don't know what is available in the UK. But, whatever will store, buy it. I have a rotating supply, meaning when it is about to expire, I eat it and replace it. Also, keep a couple month's supply of meds on hand. That may be difficult to pull off, but do your best.

Keep containers full of water, on hand. So long as you have food and water (meds), you can live.

For me, the main part of prepping is being conscious of my own mortality. I know that sounds macabre, but it's essential. I don't want to act desperate in such a way that I abandon good morals in the pursuit of life. Do your best to live, but be willing to "give up the ghost" if a situation arises that threatens to compromise what is good, and true, and beautiful. In other words, prepare both physically and spiritually.

I'm sorry that you have a limited situation. We have a hope that is not perishable. Keep a good stock of that. :) May the strength and peace of Christ keep you.

Oh no i don't read media like news and I didn't hear God mentioning it to me. I do one day at a time., Serenity prayer kind of life style.I just saw a thread on here about prepping in case I disasters like war or food shortages or extreme weather?

just seemed sensible for me

I don't have to provide food for another person but myself and my pets so am not worried about that. I am low contact with my family due to abuse.

I need carers so most of my money goes to them and my medical treatments. I do have someone to help me in case of power cuts as I use oxygen to help me breathe. The Red Cross are good in those kinds of emergencies

I also have someone deliver my medicines for me

I could try the food prep I guess by saving a few pennies here and there for tinned foods rice etc

guinea pigs can live in dandelions and grass as long as I can get bay

the storage space ideas are good..I may have some extra room in my cupboards if I rearrange things

I also plan to save up the money I don't spend on myself and bills etc

Well when we did we go to heaven to be with Jesus whether we keep or not so no I don't worry about death...

I don't live morally just by love God and love your neighbour. Those are my two rules and I don't worry about anything else

I am just doing this in case there is a disaster like a war or famine!... It isn't anything to do with salvation or sin it is just about what is best for me and my pets to survive this situation

Yeah am reading Acts at the moment and our church is doing genesis. It is really interesting stuff. One thing I plan to always have with me in any event is Bible and tonnes of books

because my church teaches that we are sealed in Jesus when we become born again and they reach us not to fear death or anything but to live to enjoy and serve Jesus. I just know God wAnts His best for my safety

I am also praying that if I don't get healed before a disaster comes that He will let me die....I y may stop tak ing my meds to induce it if things get bad or stop feeding myself . because I don't really want to live in a time of famine war and disease....heaven is better....so it depends what ?God wants for me

The most important prep you can do right now, and everyday going forward, is to prep to be faithful. Reach out to a local church and get plugged into the community of believers that will support you as you continue to love Christ. After that, reach out to a prepping organization online or group that meets in your area as they will likely have access to resources you may need in the future.

Yours in the Lord,

jm

I am talking about situations where I can't get to the b bank supermarket etc because of disasters or end times tribulations...practical stuff really...

You could prep for some emergencies like a power outage due to a bad storm, by making sure you have blankets for warmth (in case of no heat), and then some foodstuffs like dehydrated fruit, and can or packaged foods that don't need to be cooked to eat. Having some extra water would be good.

I am assuming you have resources to call once something happens. It would be wise to be sure that they would contact you if there is a disaster of some kind to check on you.

Folks, advising a member to be right with God is always good, but this particular forum is for the more practical things we can do to prep for disasters and emergencies.
