In the Bible we are repeatedly told to pray for the spiritual things, like strength, grace, favor etc and God’s will. Truthfully, I am sick of The spiritual things. And since His will for me apparently involves an intense amount of suffering, I don’t want that either. So why does He want a lying prayer?

Prayer is your communication to God. Tell him what's in your heart. He knows anyway ...

we are told to pray in spirit, which is to prey for His will, not our own ...

His will is to comfort you. So you can comfort others. Pray for his will in you.

The enemy wants you to suffer; not God.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matt 11:28

Praying to God that 'you don't want to suffer'.
How is that lying?

Sorry to hear about your suffering. Consider "thankful prayer " instead of suplication. If you find that you have nothing to be thankful for, then Pray for His Holy Spirit to fill you with the remembrance of your first love. Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Be blessed.

I don’t want to be comforted. I want the cause of the suffering to be fixed. THAT would comfort me. No amount of words or arm around my shoulder type comforting will have an effect.

Pain is the root of bitterness. Ask for his love to help you endure tribulation. Great treasures are awarded at the end of the road. Eternal ones.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

May the Lord bring you peace and understanding. Amen.

I

I get you. I feel like this a lot. My way round it is to just tell Him how I feel and ask Jesus in me to overcome.

praying for you

Its called obedience.

During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence. Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him… Hebrews 5:7-9

One mistake people often make is becoming saved and thinking "I guess this means my life will be amazing now!". Truth is your life doesn't change so to speak. Suffering will still exists, saved or not. Sin is in the world and thus we suffer. Praying for there to be no suffering would be great if it was always something that worked. But it's impossible not to have some sort of suffering, hardships...etc.

My family will die, friends will die, pets will die, people will get sick like myself, I may lose money and so on. This is all normal. You have to stop seeing God as a genie to live a perfect life and look at the future life ahead of you after you die. There is no suffering there, no pain, no worry...etc.

This is an answer for a separate question. The question is why does he want me to lie and pray for that which I have no desire whatsoever for.

Hebrews 9:27 says it is appointed for man to die once (and after that the judgment) this necessarily means people will suffer bodily (death is rarely without pain of one kind or another)

We are in a fallen world and as a result of the sin in the world there will be tribulation and trial (John 16:33) for us all, whether saved or unsaved (Matthew 5:45) although moreso for the saved it often seems. (Hebrews 12:6, 2 Timothy 3:12)

However, in the midst of it all God is with His people (Psalm 91:5-6) He has plans to help you, and not to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11).

You rail against God's love and comfort, shun HIS offer of patience and strength... but can you imagine dealing with this without hope, with no comfort? Without hope of heaven, of an eternity in the presence of a loving God for your wife? With only God's judgment for sin?

Be God's comfort to her, and lean upon Him for your own. These things must be, but your reaction - that's on you. God is faithful, even when we aren't (Thank God for that.)

I say this not as one who has never experienced this and more, but as one who has been there in the midst of worse than even you can imagine...

He doesn't.

He knows you don't want suffering; no one would. Even if you were to go around with a big smile on your face; he knows what you are really thinking and feeling. He knows what you are going to say before you speak, Psalms 139:4 and knows all your thoughts too - so there's no point in pretending or lying.

If he isn’t going to ACTUALLY (not spiritually)help, He doesn’t have enough to cover this pain. His comfort, strength patience means nothing to me. If He heals her, I don’t need them. If he doesn’t, no amount of them will be enough.
