• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

FYI I posted the same thread in the general struggles section. I re post it in the depression section hoping to get more feedback and support. I hope my thread wont be sensitive or controversial. But I need to vent. Besides the fact I fear of going to hell, I have this on my mind. I felt this way for years but now things are getting worse in the world now thanks to the media and government. I'm feeling more ashamed and less proud of my heritage (Italian). It literally hurts me when people call them racists, mafias, bringing up what Columbus did, the Italian invasion of Somalia, Libya, and Eritrea, of what the Roman Empire did, and especially the crucifixion of Jesus. I'm starting to wish that I was a different nationality. Now I'm afraid to tell people what my background is bc I fear they will judge me. Does anyone here feel the same way? Or had felt the same way? Again I don't mean to have this topic come as offensive. If so, I will ask the MOD to remove it.

I love Italians. Before I was born my grandmother married an Italian. So I had aunts, uncles and cousins who were Italian. Plus, grandpa, one of the greatest men I ever knew.

There's both a good legacy and a bad legacy for every national or ethnic background. Take appropriate pride in the good, and refuse to be defined by the bad. Rise above the bad, and live up to the good, to the extent possible.

Nobody has a choice in their heritage. We all take the good with the bad. I love everyone. I love Italians. The food? Love it too. :) Just trying to bring you a smile. Who cares what shortsighted people say? We were all created by God.

We can't choose our ethnicity of course, but if we could, I would choose to be Italian. I like the emphasis on family, the great food, the great music (not just opera), and the shapely women.

All ethnicities have reasons for appreciation; FWIW, yours is rich with reasons.

It is best never to give in to people who try to bring you down. A lot of people relish in doing that to others.

For yourself know this truth - in the eyes of God/Creator of Heaven and Earth, you are precious and worth more than the entire anything.

Don't let anyone rob you of your identity or make you feel bad about it.

Our Soul's Worth In Jesus.

Our soul is worth more than all the wealth of the universe, as His Truth shapes our life. Our existence is worth a lot of love, and goodwill too. That's why God The Father sent Christ to lead us on The Way to true and lasting being. Caring so deeply for us especially when we slip and slide down that agonising decline sinful life so often brings.

Our soul is stronger than pain can bring to bear, for nothing can rob us of our life's reality. Good or bad, the Hand of Truth will always carry our existence. Even pain is subdued in the end by our inability to cease, even in the face of dying and death, it will serve just a memory, as a 'child' is born anew within us, time and again.

Our soul will endure for all eternity, harvesting that which we sow around, feeding from the abundance that wells from Being. We are individuals with a personal identity in Being, small images of truth in action, radiating around The Kernel, we exist, a quantum within The Universe, sprouting existentially.

Our souls discovering immortality have many perspectives in sight, eyes rimmed all around the truth that is life's wheel, we cycle on. For why hasn't love got more to say than - 'I love you' - if that wasn't because nothing more or better could ever be said which hasn't already been spoken? And so the truth is our best Friend, even if our truth has not always been the most angelic, this fact remains, in His Loving Truth we genuinely exist. Let's trust in that! Hallelujah!

The Apostle Paul was not proud of his heritage....

12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. - 1 Timothy 1:12-15

To Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. - Romans 10:21

If Paul was chief sinner how can you get any worse than that?

God already foresaw this and addressed it. We are not responsible for our ancestor's sins. Our descendants are not responsible for our sins
Ezekiel 18:4-22
4 Behold, all souls are Mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine; the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
5 But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
6 and hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a woman in her impurity;
7 and hath not wronged any, but hath restored his pledge for a debt, hath taken nought by robbery, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
8 he that hath not given forth upon interest, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true justice between man and man,
9 hath walked in My statutes, and hath kept Mine ordinances, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
10 If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth to a brother any of these things,
11 whereas he himself had not done any of these things, for he hath even eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,
12 hath wronged the poor and needy, hath taken by robbery, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
13 hath given forth upon interest, and hath taken increase; shall he then live? he shall not live - he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely be put to death, his blood shall be upon him.
14 Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins, which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
15 that hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,
16 neither hath wronged any, hath not taken aught to pledge, neither hath taken by robbery, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,
17 that hath withdrawn his hand from the poor, that hath not received interest nor increase, hath executed Mine ordinances, hath walked in My statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, committed robbery on his brother, and did that which is not good among his people, behold, he dieth for his iniquity.
19 Yet say ye: Why doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father with him? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all My statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die; the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father with him, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son with him; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21 But if the wicked turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all My statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
22 None of his transgressions that he hath committed shall be remembered against him; for his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

Trust me. You don't want to be Italian. So much stereotyping of us. We are labeled as either racists or mafias

If you don't mind me asking, what's your cultural background?

I didn't read the whole bible. What was Paul's cultural background? I was told that Paul killed a lot of Christians before coming to Christ. Is that correct?

Blamed by people that you have no hope of impressing anyway. So don't care about their blame. You can take blame for things that you do that are wrong, but there is no reason to take blame for dead people.

My family name traces back to one of the older Scottish clans, but I also have some Irish, some German, some English, some French, and (I suspect) some Native American from Canada.

Culturally, the Scottish and German have been most influential to me.

well, i guess you can see italians in the roman empire as war heroes if you'd like...i mean rooms full of italian food...awesome stuff, right?...
think of the buildings roman technology has built...think of even italian relationships as some sort of genuinity because we were still exploring the world...very much so...italians are not fools either...they came up with a great tally of scores of and like literally legions of their own content like statues and art...

even though i like to brush up on my christian lessons, you're hearing from me...a non christian...but even if they were ruthless with christians witht he roman empire at least...not only as yourself as an italian can learn from that history...but now even the term ruthlessness can be studied upon in the higher mysteries of labels...of course with destructive things like that, you must only research in my belief...i mean what you can get yourself out of that are entirety power pathways of knowledge...but of course just for knowledge...i mean heck...the label mercenaries came out of ruthlessness i suppose...

look, the romans may have been guilty of some things...but they were your ancestors...not you...to me...everything is not everything...i also believe in a beyond beyond but in knowledge...yet another open avenue for you to ponder about the histories italy...i'm sure if you question more about your country...you'd be surprised...wait...isn't leonardo da vinci italian?...anyways, look, look, look...i'm sure there are great insights of the knowledge of italy...

remember...there is always something good about each nation...like i said...the food italy...

i mean find bright scholars of italy...even modern scholars...

at the very least, there is the everything about each nation...have some pride at least in the prowess italians can give...italy...i would consider an elite country and i mean in the present...also think of the hotels italy provides...come on man, brighten up...besides, the past is the past...

the romans' chance in conquering the world can give you insight in how great warriors they were...like i said...try to see on the better, brighter side...obviously you can see reason that there were some italian citizens during the roman's empire's apex that questioned with compassion of the war...

italy even being able to have treasuries i bet they have can be yet another prowess in the pride of something in your country...perhaps there are some innocent souls in italy now that would not want to bother anyone...

maybe your country hasn't failed you...have you expected everything is not as it appears in it's entirety?...heck, think of the common markets in italy and in all it's glory...and i'm sure there are good police who are just doing their duty too...though i'm not so sure in the achievement in that in the particular for sure...

i'm not sure about official representatives in italy...but you can be a shining hope for them in terms of determining yourself as a good guy. Their may be greed in precious resources in italy...but it's still all there, right?

the cities in water of italy looks beautiful enough...and it's not like everyone's unfair...there are such things as regular servicing in italy...that's good stuff, right?...heck, italy can be such a good vacation spot that they have visitor guides and stuff...

but like i said, think of whole entireties of data in your country...

go to a library or something and see things that are new and is exclsuive side to you about your home country because you can be excited about being proud of some things...should you retrieve any new information...well...good luck...i mean that's gotta be enough good assistance to you, right?...maybe even give you strange information you can decipher like philosophy or something from italy...i mean in libraries...you can seek guidance, information, and direction...perhaps you will know famous italian names and seek power of knowledge from it like usual family names or famous fiction and real people from the history of italy and now...and what better answers can come from than a library...hmmm...i'm not sure about bibles in libraries though...but perhaps there far more than more than enough of existence of knowledge of which you can be proud of italy...more than you might imagine...have high hopes of learning more of your country...learning more secrets...paying attention to detail...and perhaps you'll get more new glimpses of new knowledge of italy...even carefully, not so famous knowledge can be found possibly...but if you've felt you've done enough to prove yourself of italy, then so be it...but then again, you might find knowledge disappointing and not helping you about your nation...

then again, there's the coronavirus so i guess you gotta stick to the internet...perhaps you have to avert such things for yourself for now...but i really hope you have a possible turning point about the history of your country...good luck and don't go into information crises...hopefully...

i guess all i'm saying is to overcome your shame of your country...well, goodbye then...
