I sort of agree, but I don't see how people are pinning this on Wallace. I don't think Wallace's moderation qua interruptions was all that bad. It wasn't effective, but what would have been effective? Should he have tried to interrupt Trump and speak over Trump to somehow "force" Trump to quiet down with sheer strength? He actually tried that a few times and of course it didn't work. What was Wallace supposed to do?
I think part of the puzzle is easy: for the first 2 minute opening statements the opponent's microphone should be turned off. Simple. But after those first 4 minutes of each section there are no easy answers. If microphones were micromanaged during the open discussion portion each side would become enraged and call "bias" and "foul."
Do you think he can get his head out of his back pocket next time? It'll be interesting to hear the next two debates. I think this one was a knock down drag out and nothing really got sorted out.
I do think Trump hurt his cause, but not to the point he can't recover over the next two.
The GOP is a puppet of Trump. That’s good, right? And that’s “bad”?
What a different world you and I live in.Just about everyone who isn't a criminal has a positive relationship with police officers...they go to church with us...they are our neighbors. They come over for barbeque...
We see the lack of support for Biden by them as "something is wrong".
Simple would be having a president who would have the self control to be quiet for two minutes and not need their microphone turned off to go it. The fact that Trump couldn’t do it is a scathing indictment on him having the temperament needed to be a good president.
It's good if you think packing the supreme court is a good idea, it's good if think turning the USA into a third world country. Then vote for Biden, but if you love America think twice before you vote. And that’s “bad”?
I have thought many more times than that. Just waiting for my absentee ballot. It's good if you think packing the supreme court is a good idea, it's good if think turning the USA into a third world country. Then vote for Biden, but if you love America think twice before you vote.
Really, it was. But I wonder about the ground rules. Wasn't there a time when each of the speakers were given a set amount of time, then the other one got rebuttal time of a certain length, like one minute. And then the next question went to the opposite candidate, and so forth? And the moderator did not become part of the debate!!I sort of agree, but I don't see how people are pinning this on Wallace. I don't think Wallace's moderation qua interruptions was all that bad.
I don't want to pin blame on either candidate for the lack of decorum, but the moderator...he not only didn't confine himself to moderating, but he favored one of the candidates and made himself one of the participants, too.It wasn't effective, but what would have been effective? Should he have tried to interrupt Trump and speak over Trump to somehow "force" Trump to quiet down with sheer strength? He actually tried that a few times and of course it didn't work. What was Wallace supposed to do?
I thought that too. And it should be used throughout.I think part of the puzzle is easy: for the first 2 minute opening statements the opponent's microphone should be turned off.
I love America. I’ve thought about this long and hard for the past several years but especially so these past 10 months. I’m voting for Biden to restore some semblance of dignity to my country. Sure, he’s not great but ok is much better than bad. It's good if you think packing the supreme court is a good idea, it's good if think turning the USA into a third world country. Then vote for Biden, but if you love America think twice before you vote.

Which flag?Keep undermining our constitutions and our institutions and you will get have a third world country soon enough. It seems 1/3 of the country wants an authoritarian wrapped in a flag and a Bible.
So, (lemme get this straight), if I want the USA to “turn into a third world country” I should vote for Biden? It's good if you think packing the supreme court is a good idea, it's good if think turning the USA into a third world country. Then vote for Biden, but if you love America think twice before you vote.
It’s about who did it first? That would be Trump at 6:22...Here's something I heard Ari Fleischer point out today on Fox. He said if you go back and re-watch the debate one might be surprise to see it was Joe Biden actually who started with the interruption things. I believe you can see this take place at 6:49.
