Why can't god talk to us

The problem is...not everyone will listen.

He has spoken. How many times does the Red Sea need to part? How many times does Our Lord need to come back from the dead? There is ample testimony to Christianity. The burden is now upon man to either believe or to not believe.

He does talk to us.

edit: Finally, if simply "answering all of our questions" would have worked, then why did He send His Son to die in our stead on the Cross?

Well, when He did speak to The Israelites it was so intense that the people couldn't bare it :


For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore. (For they could not endure what was commanded: "And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot with an arrow." And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, "I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.")

Let me ask you how you can be so sure that God cannot talk to us ?
Let me ask you how you can be so sure that God or Jesus have not talked to everyone?

This is what we have heard:

Why do you contend against Him, saying, 'He will answer none of man's words'? -Job 33:13
For God speaks in one way, and in two, though man does not perceive it. -Job 33:14
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, while they slumber on their beds, -Job 33:15
then He opens the ears of men and terrifies them with warnings, -Job 33:16
that He may turn man aside from his deed and conceal pride from a man; -Job 33:17
he keeps back his soul from the pit, his life from perishing by the sword. -Job 33:18

God knows man. He knows how closed many are to Him.

He speaks all the time in peoples hearts and minds but sinful people reject the truth and replace Him with a lie, that is how they do away with the truth, they literally crucify Him time and again to follow the way of the ego. God has no big ego, and He is truthful so He is not present there, the devil has a huge ego, and lies 24/7 so he has his home where God ought to dwell.

That is the sad situation with humanity. They love the way of sin and the wicked who got them by the nose pervert, exploit, enslave, imprison and kill the Godhood out of us. A sad state of affairs.

That is why we need to take the truth of God on our lips and spread it as much as we can, so those fallen sinners, those who are hurting their friendships with the wicked, can be gathered to serve the Lamb of God instead and be freed from their enslavements.

Why can't God talk to us?
Largely because cessationist theologians have banned him from speaking. In modern political parlance, God has been de-platformed.

At the same time, just as scripture warns us, Satan can speak freely and constantly does so on any platform he chooses.

And of course, one of Satan's prime objectives is to constantly reinforce the false doctrine that God no longer speaks to his own children. Satan does this by the clever ruse of teaching cessationism in bible schools and churches including on this forum as we will undoubtedly see on this thread.

But despite all the cessationist, fingers in your ears negativity, God does speak to those who will listen.
God started speaking to man in the garden of Eden, he freely spoke to people all through the Old Testament period, he freely spoke to people all through the New Testament period, and when you read the prophecies, he will continue to speak through the eternal future.

Doesn't it strike people as strange that today, when people are trying to discern God's voice, there is a certain brand of religious zealots adamantly determined to silence Him?

When scripture warns us that Satan is free to speak to anyone, why would they want to silence God?

Read Psalm 19 about how creation tells us about God.

You want our questions answered! But there is only one question God will answered.

How can I be saved?
Get that sincerely asked, then God will answer other questions. Hint,the answers will be found in the Bible.

I think He doesn't speak directly to all of humanity because He's looking for those who will have faith in Him. Unquestionably proving His existence to everyone would leave no room for faith.

Hebrews 1:1-2 (NASB) God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

Hebrews 2:1-3 (NASB) For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty, how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:" Acts 2:17

When God gives them, they have a purpose.

God has always been willing to speak to those who seek him, and all the answers are definitely not found in the bible

God does talk to people but not all the time. But even to His own people, it is often in riddles, or unclear visions, or dreams, that require thought, not face to face.

Num 12:6-8 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

The Bible is God's face to face communication. However God does still speak, Below are some examples of God speaking to me:

Some time after the second Gulf War an Australian man Douglas Wood was captured by terrorists in Iraq, who made demands for a ransom or he would be executed. I set about fasting and praying for his release, I said to God "You know where he is....tell me". Three words entered my mind ABC, Bazaar and "a meal". I thought "I am going crazy what has all that got to do with him. Bazaar I though "this is Bizarre". I thought maybe "a meal" is a town so I searched a map of Iraq for a town of that name, but found nothing that really matched. Some time latter Douglas Wood was freed by US troops who came across his captors. It was not until latter that I actually discovered what the three words meant. I was on a forum and came across a post by a user called ABC in the post she appealed to the terrorists to release Douglas Wood because she had seen him go to a Bazaar (another name for shop) and bought food (sausages I think it was) for disadvantaged people and had provided them with "a meal". So the three words God had given me when I prayed were about that post. So God did not tell me where he was he told me what type of person Douglas Wood was a good man. I believe God saw Douglas Wood's kind action too and blessed with an escape from his captors.


One morning I got up and walked into the hall and I heard a voice that I believed was God say "How would you like to be stabbed in the Valley". The Valley was known as the rough end of town, and the voice scared me a little, I wondered if I had done something to offend God. I had planned to go down to the Valley to ask people out to church as was my habit at the time. In the end I went anyway regardless of the fear. I walked up to the first person I met and asked him if he would like to go out to church. He said to me "I am an atheist, I don't believe in God". I just said "fine", but hoped to change his mind. He then proceeded to unbutton his shirt and showed me scar marks up and down his chest and stomach. He said to me, "I was attacked by a knife wielding man in the Valley some time ago and spent months recovering in hospital, How could God allow that to happen to me". Then I knew why God had said in the morning "How would I like to be stabbed?". God understood this man, but had a good plan for him. Some weeks latter this man came out to church and became a Christian.

God speaks to us all through His word (Bible) and in prayer through the Holy Spirit.

We often don't wait for that still, small voice because we want quick answers or simply don't listen.

We are told that Satan the deceiver comes as an angel of light.

Why even Jesus used the Scripture to Satan when Satan misquoting God at Him whilst trying to tempt Him.

The Bereans searched the Scriptures to make sure what they were being taught was so.

We are clearly told in 2Timothy 3:16

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

So you admit that Satan can speak to deceive you or others, but for some reason your God has been gagged.
Obviously you have a very small vision/experience of God.
If any earthly father totally ignored his child like you teach God does, the social services would conclude he was an abusive father, and the child lived in a loveless household.

For over 50 years, my experience of the Lord is one of regular close communication. In fact when I first heard him speaking directly to me, it was a good 10 years before I ever heard the gospel preached.

Now you really are letting your side down. Jesus quoted scripture because Satan was misusing it, so Jesus set him straight. But if you really want fact check how many times Jesus resorted to scripture, compared to when he used fresh language, you'd lose heavily.

You really don't know how to use scripture to back your argument do you? Even I could find better defence of your side than you are doing.
Your problem is that while all your scriptures are perfectly true, (how could they not be), in no way do they negate what I have been saying.

Checking scripture is fine if the Lord is speaking to you about doctrine, but for over 50 years, the Lord has been speaking to me about all sorts of things that have nothing to do with doctrinal issues.
I have done many jobs in my time including running my own manufacturing business. The Lord has spoken to me about product designs, financial matters, house and factory purchases, staff membership, problem solving. He has given me countless dreams and visions over the years. He has spoken words in my ear about stuff I could not have known.

I delight in the living communicative relationship I have with the Lord. The idea that God is somehow limited to only speaking words from the bible is so bizarre that it is laughable.

That nonsense puts God's communication skills somewhere below Satan's!
