Is anyone else watching this on PBS?

Last night it was about "Us/Them" thinking and how Facebook is complicit letting Russian accounts polarize us.

But I also see theology here. I have long thought that "Either/or", "Us/Them", "black/White" thinking dehumanizes and makes it impossible to love on another.

This is fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
A believer, born again from above, has access to the tree of Life.
Wisdom not based on good/evil, but God/Not God.
Us/Them thinking clearly Not God. :)

I don't want to watch it, it sounds scary and I'm so tired of being frightened. I've just found my way to this forum and understood how deeply lost I've been in my own mind.

But merely the idea that Russian spies are taking part in disinformation, as they probably do, and that it is being talked about, make it much more powerful then it would be if it was not a thing people worried about. Also if there's someone that fervently denies and/or uses the fear others have, will only increase it. As a European I do believe that Russians and Americans are spinning nets and entrapping each other in them, and at the moment there seem to be mass hysteria in USA, that the politicians use and amplify, and something "Russia" if one simplify a whole nation into a "it" can simply deny all responsibility of, and still have great use of, if someone wants to make them into the theory of what evil is and where it comes from. YouTube for example seem to be absolutely boiling at the moment, and I can see how Facebook probably also is. There's so much cynicism in the world, and it's frightening to witness how "brave" people behave, when they are mocking God and others with a filthy language and cold indifference. Fear probably only fuel this as well. It's not easy to try to be a good person these days, and take part in what is good, as Christianity is, and whom Jesus is, and the same time live as a human and try to stay unaffected by other people. It's just good to think of Jesus at the moment and I pray that people don't get lost in hatred and each others delusions.

Awareness of it helps us diffuse it.

The whole point of disinformation is confusion. That doesn't mean the information about the topic is untainted. Big data is a laboratory. They analyze behavior and the algorithms predict what happens next. Many websites use heat maps too. They know the areas you're clicking on and the topics you're most likely to engage with. You can use that information for sales or to fine tune propaganda.

The easiest way to enjoy (de stress) platforms like youtube is do not click on anything political or religious. Watch kittens, urban exploring, nature videos etc. My husband and I watch funny and interesting videos together. Laughing at design fails, driving fails and even bad translations.

And as for facebook, I use it for talking to friends, cute cats etc. No politics

Youtube's recommendations are getting more and more bizarre. Half of them are stuff I'd never watch.
