Hebrews 7:23-25, " 23 The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, 24 but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. 25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

I assume He is making intercession for us about things beyond our understanding and what we need but don't even know it...

When Christ prays for us, does He pray for our faith to not fail, like He did for Peter?
And why not? Peter says we are kept by the power of God through faith, so He helps our faith also.

John 17

Jesus Prayer for All Believers

20I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, 21that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.22I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one— 23I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

24Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.25Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me.

26And I have made Your name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them.”

I understand Christ's intercession as our high priest to mean that he represents us before the Father through his death and resurrection. Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) demonstrates for us an illustration as to what that looks like. He has entered into the true Most Holy Place to sprinkle his blood before the true Ark of the Covenant to make an intercession of remission for sins on behalf of the people. In short, his intercession is his mediation on our account. Remember the text, "[Jesus] was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification" (Romans 4:25). It was necessary for Christ to rise from the dead, ascend to heaven as a resurrected federal head, and to represent us before the Father after completing the work.
