• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was in a mental health ward for 6 months after two suicide attempts and got diagnosed with schizophrenia. To be honest it wasn't that bad, actually quite comfy. I had my laptop computer where I played games and watched videos. I read my bible. There were people around me all the time and they made some pretty good food in the kitchen. There was also a gym. At one point I was able to go outside whenever I want without one of the nurses accompanying me.

I'd like to go back there for a visit but I won't lie to my doctors and nurses. I have been a bit suicidal lately though.

I wrestled with suicidal thoughts for years. I was too wrapped up in my problems and I wanted the easy way out. God spoke to me and pointed out that I would be causing great suffering to my family and friends. Christians are not independent. God has a plan for each one of us. It would be tragic to waste your life by missing out on God's purpose for you.

I feel like I can be productive there as well. I was handing out leaflet tracts almost every day there. Putting them under windshield wipers of cars and what not. Here at home it feels so lonely, like I am not doing anything. I have no idea what Gods plan is for my life, but its not moving forward atm.

Welcome to the club. COVID restrictions have put our ministry on hold. We have a small Bible school/counselling service. We rent an office space in the town centre. We have the lease expense and outgoings and yet we are not able to help anyone. It is frustrating. All that we can do is keep focused on the Lord Jesus and not allow circumstances to dictate to us. If we can endure when things are difficult, we grow stronger and we will be better able to help others. (James 1:12)

Do you know that you are not alone ?

This is what we have heard:
Therefore, since WE ARE SURROUNDED BY SO GREAT A CLOUD OF WITNESSES, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, -Hebrews 12:1

With these many witnesses, you are not alone.

what Jesus have said when He is alone:
Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will LEAVE ME ALONE. YET I AM NOT ALONE, for the FATHER IS WITH ME. -John 16:32

At that time each to his own home, and will leave Jesus alone.

Don’t you feel at this time, each to his home and will leave you alone, too ?

“Yet I am not alone but the Father is with me“, Jesus said.

How about you?
You can say : Yet I am not alone but Jesus is with me !

How Jesus to be with you ? Pray to the Heavenly Father; this is what apostle Paul have prayed :

that according to the riches of his glory he may GRANT YOU to be strengthened with power THROUGH HIS SPIRIT IN YOUR INNER BEING, -Ephesians 3:16
so that CHRIST may DWELL IN YOUR HEARTS through faith'that you, being rooted and grounded in love, -Ephesians 3:17

So when Christ dwell in your heart, you are not alone.

You say, how?
This is what we have heard:
For God, who said, “Let LIGHT shine out of darkness,” HAS SHONE IN OUR HEARTS - 2 Corinthians 4:6

So who is this light ? Jesus, the light of the world. What can we understand about this light?
This is the wisdom that we have heard:
For the commandment is a lamp and THE TEACHING A LIGHT, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life, -Proverbs 6:23

The teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ is the light that shine your heart !

So, you aren’t alone, for Jesus is with you.
Hold His teachings close to your heart, let His teachings shine in the darkness of your heart.
When you follow Jesus who is the light of the world, you never again walk in darkness but have the light of life.

What is God’s plan for your life ?
Have you heard this:
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? -Micah 6:8

You feel like you are not doing anything; sure, you can do something.

Follow David’s example.
He spent time praying, singing , praising and worshiping God, and tell God’s righteous acts and wonderful deeds, even when he was chased by King Saul and lived in hiding.

What David pray, you can pray, too:
Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. -Psalms 25:4

Have you known God’s ways? Have you understood God’s paths ?

Don’t you think David better spend his time how to escape and counter Saul and the whole of Israel or it is better for David to know God’s ways and His paths?

Do you think it is better for you to think to escape this pandemic and counter persons/things or it is better for you to know God’s ways and His paths ?

What answer did David receive ?
Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. -Psalms 25:8
He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. -Psalms 25:9
All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. -Psalms 25:10

So there is something that you can do !
Meditate God’s words, ask Him for wisdom, and ask Him to lead you, walk not according to your understanding ( mind), and pray the promises of God over your life and delight yourself in the Lord.

This is what we have heard:
Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. -Psalms 37:3
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. -Psalms 37:4
