As Christians, do we worship God or Jesus?

Personally, I don't believe it matters, as God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus are the same God (i.e. John 10:30; Isaiah 9:6). However, have you asked God or Jesus, whomever you are comfortable talking to, what He thinks of your dilemma? Asking the "mighty Christian forums" may only add to your struggle.

I dont have a delimma. I think I should only worship God and praise Jesus. If I dont "worship" Jesus, am I doing something wrong?

My wife and I were having dinner this evening and we started talking about our church and the music. While talking, I mentioned that I had to read the lyrics before singing because I was very careful to not worship Jesus.
The church we attend is southern baptist and it great, but I definitely disagree with some of the music and prayers I hear where people are..basically...worshiping Jesus. Now sure, I know trinity and all that..but we are to workship God, not Jesus.
In my head, God is our father, Jesus is our savior, and the holy spirit moves in all things. All three work to make each other possible, but through and through..Jesus is my savior, my leader, and my friend while God is my God.

What say you oh mighty Christian forums? Thanks and God Bless....

Jhon 1
"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

Jhon 6
"35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst."

Jhon 6
"33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world."

Jhon 6
"63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

The lord Jesus Christ is the word of God. He is the life, and the beginning of all. He is pure, and is here to protect anyone who believe in him. The lord Jesus is my rest and in his finish work on the cross he gave me victory against the sting of death.

Proverbs 30
"5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."

Hear John's testimony of Jesus' identity...Jesus is the Creator:
John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.

Isaiah 43:11 I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior.

Either Jesus is God or he is not our savior.

I say read the book, "Putting Jesus In his Place", for free on the web. It is the most detailed case for the Divinity of Christ. I posted a thread on it a few weeks ago. And if you click the link below you can read it for free as a PDF file.

"The book itself uses a "HANDS" acronym for establishing the case for Christ's Divinity. HANDS stands for the dimensions of: Honors, Attributes, Names, Deeds and Seat. That system I guess is not completely original to the book (someone used it before), but probably will be new to you, (I hadn't heard of it before)."

They are different people with different attributes and personalities so I don't think this is entirely correct. It over simplifies God.
Jesus, as a man, is distinct as having a human nature. But, as the Son of God, in which ways is He different from the Father, and the Holy Spirit?

i do know that Jesus always brings praise to the Father, and the Father gives all glory to the Son, while the Spirit testifies of them both as One God Almighty.

i worship Jesus as my Messiah King but not as i worship The Father for to me He is my Abba. Above all in Everything it is in Him that we have our very being. i have to admit that i never worship the Holy Spirit but adore seeing Him at work in my heart and mind. He is such a good force to know in this valley of darkness. The Holy Spirit never focussed on Himself but always on the Father and The Son.

Hes different from the father because hes not our father nor does he play the role of a father figure. Hes our brother. Hes different from the holy spirit because the holy spirits job is to indwell in believers. They all have different roles.

Yes, different roles, but you said they had different attributes. Attributes, in the theological sense, have to do with what makes God, God. For instance, God's holiness, justice, wisdom, goodness, etc. are all attributes shared in equal measure by the Father, Son, and Spirit. And these attributes which are perfect and infinite are what makes God, God.

I don't deny they have access to the same attributes because of course they do. I just said attributes because they are attributed with doing different things historically. The father has fatherly attributes jesus has brotherly attributes the holy spirit has holy spirit attributes.

When you say, "I had to read the lyrics before singing because I was very careful to not worship Jesus," and that you "disagree with some of the music and prayers I hear where people are..basically...worshiping Jesus," that sounds like a dilemma. Besides, you are the one who brought this "non-dilemma" subject matter about "worship" to a public forum asking for opinions. I see an individual afraid to worship Jesus who, I assume, you felt secure enough to accept His death and resurrection to forgive your sins and restore God's life to you. Yet, you struggle to worship Him. When Jesus was born, the Magi "bowed down and worshiped Him (Matthew 2:11)." When Jesus made His entry into Jerusalem the crowd, "took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, 'Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel (Matthew 21:9; John 12:13)!" The crowd was worshiping Him. After Jesus walked on water, "those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, 'Truly you are the Son of God (Matthew 14:33)." Shortly after His resurrection some of the women encountered Jesus and they "came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him (Matthew 28:9)." When Jesus came to Thomas after His resurrection, Thomas said, "My Lord and my God (John 20:28)!" In none of these instances did Jesus refuse their worship or tell the people to stop. My question to you is, "Why are you afraid to worship Jesus?"

I’ve been through this with JWs before, so I can say that unlike the apostles when they were worshipped, who stopped it instantly, and said “don’t worship us, worship God only”, Jesus accepted worship of Himself many times, and did not stop them.

Here’s where the apostles worshipped Jesus:

Mat 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Yeah but they aren't the same. If they were the same there would be no need for jesus. The father would just have come down and died on the cross if they were the same. Jesus was simply saying the model of the father was in the behavior of jesus.

I've never once told anyone, or even considered telling anyone that if they have seen me they have seen my mother.. the thought alone would be ludicrous because I am definitely a separate person to her.

Yet, Jesus says if anyone has seen Him, they have seen God..

That's not saying I'm similar... that's something altogether different.

Your obviously not understanding the Godhead and the fact it's truly 1 God...

The original and true Christian Church founded by Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago, to which He promised the fullness of God's truth until the end of time, has always worshipped only the one true God - Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit.
