My wife and I were having dinner this evening and we started talking about our church and the music. While talking, I mentioned that I had to read the lyrics before singing because I was very careful to not worship Jesus.
The church we attend is southern baptist and it great, but I definitely disagree with some of the music and prayers I hear where people are..basically...worshiping Jesus. Now sure, I know trinity and all that..but we are to workship God, not Jesus.
In my head, God is our father, Jesus is our savior, and the holy spirit moves in all things. All three work to make each other possible, but through and through..Jesus is my savior, my leader, and my friend while God is my God.

What say you oh mighty Christian forums? Thanks and God Bless....

Jesus is God. He is one of the persons of the Trinity, along with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Their is a lot of stuff to the doctrine of the Trinity (many verses, situations. concepts etc.) .

But there are 2 passages of the Book of Isaiah that especially lays it out. Watch or listen to this video especially 30 minutes into it and beyond....

Jesus is God. The Trinity is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We worship the Trinity.

Jesus is YHWH in flesh, so we should rightly worship Him. There is one God in the person of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is fully man and fully God.

To give you a very concrete example from the Bible where an apostle worships Jesus, we can turn to Thomas' confession in John 20:28, where he says "My Lord and my God!"

Worshipping Jesus is fine. It is Biblical. God has made the Lord Jesus to be king of kings and Lord of Lords. He has the name above all names. People worshipped Lord Jesus while He was on earth. Never did he rebuke them.

This article is one of many that explain why we should worship Lord Jesus: Is It Appropriate to Worship Jesus?

"No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known". – John 1:18

"Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised!" – Romans 9:5

The Bible leaves no doubt. Jesus is God in the flesh, 100% God and yes, absolutely to be worshipped.

Yes, we worship Jesus. He is God in nature, the Word who isGod, the Son of God the Father, and worthy of all the honor we would give to the Father.

We worship Him as God, ask Him for things, ask Him to save us, and trust Him as Saviour.

Personally, I don't believe it matters, as God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus are the same God (i.e. John 10:30; Isaiah 9:6). However, have you asked God or Jesus, whomever you are comfortable talking to, what He thinks of your dilemma? Asking the "mighty Christian forums" may only add to your struggle.

If we bow down in worship before 1 member of the Trinity, we bow in worship before all (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) because the Trinity is God in unity (unity is 1)

We don't have multiple Gods, we have one and He exists in Trinity and Trinity in Unity...

Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One. Deuteronomy 6:4

The Trinity isn't 3, the Trinity is One.

Look at yourself. You have a body of flesh, a mind, and a spirit/soul, your 3 are also one, distinctive from each part, but always still 1 you...

Think of God like this, and it will be less confusing perhaps.

I'll give you a Catholic perspective. Which should be of interest because it's very old AND it's accessible to you in English if you want to attend a Catholic mass and listen to whom the prayers are offered.

Much of the mass is addressed to the Father. Some to the Son. Some to the Holy Spirit. Which is fine because each is God. Go and listen to how that unfolds. You may worship Jesus. You should. But also the Father and the Spirit. If you have any questions about this I would refer you to the Nicene Creed and also the Athanasian Creed. Here is the relevant part of the Nicene Creed: "We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets."

The Athanasian Creed: Athanasian Creed - Wikipedia

Basically, you can worship Jesus because He too is God. One can only worship God. Father, Son, Spirit. The creeds allow it. Rest assured. But balance it out. All of the Trinity is worthy of worship.
