You probably should but they’re convenient. I cook for taste because it controls consumption and is more enjoyable. We overeat because food doesn’t satisfy the palate.

Yeah, it'd probably have to be in a bigger city. Some of the elderly population might like it too. Since taste and smell fade away somewhat at that age.

When I worked at the wine shop I noticed I couldn’t gorge on anything. A few bites was enough. I tested it with meat, sweets, cheese, and salads and had the same results every time.

Interesting. I remember I worked at a place that let people drink.

I can taste the difference between a really good steak and lesser quality meat. There’s no comparison. I look for the same in everything.

Hmm. I can understand the textures. Although besides that not so much. Pretty much all drinks taste the same.

Ordering a TV through Amazon. Does Costco deliver?

Yes. You get an extra year’s warranty and their return policy is second to none.

I don't know lol. Maybe if someone gets shot in the movie I can justify it.

You enjoy a little gore?

I doubt I'd ever hunt, but I like to see people prepare the freshest food possible.

I don’t see myself doing it either. I’m not opposed to someone who wanted to do so for food.

Lol, but I don't even do grill cooking outside.

You’re forgiven. :p I watched a lot of Pitmasters. BBQ tournaments have a certain energy that’s infectious. I’ll make rubs and I’ve learned a lot. But I don’t mind ceding the grill. I can be the trusty assistant.

Interesting. Not sure what motivates me. I was motivated when everything seemed new, but now I feel like I get the gist of everything. Lol.

I think it’s delegation in my case. You can’t generate energy and drive for everything. I draw from the other person and allow it to fuel me. If they want to see gains in that area that’s even better. I’ll try hard on their behalf. It’s psychological. But it works.

I hope so because I have bad experiences with return policies, lol.

Sorry I was mostly joking. I used to like violent movies, these days not so much.

Yeah, I'd have no problem eating it though. Although not so fresh that it's still moving.. lol.

Interesting. I have no idea why grilling is apparently more "manly".. lol maybe something to do with cooking outside while in the elements? Lol.

I can see that. I guess I just get my inspiration from more external outside forces. I do like watching documentaries about great people. That can be pretty inspiring.

True. But you can do the same for yourself. A good spice blend goes a long way. I go to a spice merchant for that reason. The freshness is second to none.

Interesting. I remember I worked at a place that let people drink.

We drank as well. We made Sunday dinner or ordered takeout. The store had a kitchen and my boss was a chef and our cheese monger had culinary training too. Both did catering. The monger gave me his books and plans for trays, baskets, etc. I can replicate everything he did there.

The tastings were the best. I took the remainders home. I lived a few blocks away. When we closed they gave me a lot of stuff.

I drink wine but I prefer champagne more these days. I like French spirits. Smoothness is my preference. It must taste good on its own without mixing.

Yeah. I really need to familiarize myself with spices. I might actually enjoy the taste of food almost like a normal person! Lol.

Wow that sounds like a fantastic work environment.

Aww. Sorry to hear they closed. It wasn't Covid related was it?

It's almost all the same for me. Unless it's really bitter or something.

You would. We have a lot of blends. They mix them in the store. I’ve been shopping there for years.

It was my favorite job. We were like a family.

Thank you. The building owner bought out the lease to get in a tenant who’d pay more rent. We had 5 years left on a least nearly 30 years old.

It's almost all the same for me. Unless it's really bitter or something.

Interesting. You may need stronger flavors. Do you like cognac?

Mmm, sounds good. I've been experimenting with spice lately. I hope too much spice doesn't somehow damage the taste buds.

It was my favorite job. We were like a family.

You have to cherish jobs like that. They're often not like that.

Interesting. You may need stronger flavors. Do you like cognac?

No, it's simply a lack of smell makes things taste bland and the same. There have been a few articles about people who have lost their sense of smell and they report about wines and whatnot all tasting the same suddenly.

@MehGuy I think you’ll be able to dive in the new thread. You’re not alone. :D

What some new posts were made? For some reason I don't get alerts from that thread yet. Lol.

Not at all. I like the shop because they’re knowledgeable and provide many ideas on the ways you can use their products. Many begin with heat and explore new territories. :)

Alright good. Because little by little I've been building a tolerance for more and more spicy food. Hope it doesn't damage the kidneys at least.

They’re not. That’s the kind of environment I want to have and offer for others. Work doesn’t have to be drudgery or sadistic.

Depends on the field to some extent but yeah, in an ideal world workplaces would be much more friendly and enjoyable.

That would be terrible. I’ll need to do a little digging. I wonder if they’ve come up with any solutions.

For some it's a permanent condition. Most likely for me too. Although as someone who could never smell, I find the pessimistic tone of some of those articles a little much. It's not like going blind or anything.

You’ve earned a night off. And you had another round today. You brain needs a break. *lol

Yeah I might go to bed earlier tonight. Didn't get the best sleep last night. Was fun talking and I'll pick it up again tomorrow. Night.

Last night I discovered.... I had confused fig trees, for dates... which are a sort of palm tree. Can't believe it took me so many years. :234: I've had fig baked goods, and since the fig filling is a dark brownish color, I guess my mind had concluded it was the same as dates.
