I think it's important to define terms here. A lot of us have been in situations where moving a couple inches one way or the other would have resulted in death or where we've had an illness that puts us on the brink of death. I suspect that isn't the same thing as what those why try to hyperspiritualize these situations mean. They likely want to create a superstition out of these events.

Or make money. Or both.

Since I asked this question in another thread in here but it was never answered,.. is NDE (Near death experience) real?? This one guy thinks so. What about you? I definitely believe that it's possible.

Yes I had one and it was very personal to me. Didn't see no tunnel, no light or that stuff but did see my body. I am a believer today because of my NDE

Sure it is real. The question is, is what they saw/ experienced real? Or better, is their interpretation/ use of it accurate?

2 Cor 12 - Paul is taken - while still alive -- to the third heaven.

2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know such a man—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— 4 how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

So since by definition NDE is really "all-alive-experience" - it is "possible" that they could experience the same thing Paul did.

But usually when you look into those claims - they turn out to be more along the lines of a computer trying to calculate your taxes --- while crashing.

Or something worse.

Really? What happened that caused it?

Stop breathing. I was in bed and boom saw myself and knew I was not going to Heaven then boom back in my body and I prayed and repented. I was a teenager than

Here's my way of looking at it:

When I was a teenager, I had head trips without drugs --how much more then can it happen when one's heart stops and they are "out"? But to say that they ACTUALLY visited Hell or Heaven is more than I can say. I myself have had a "trip", completely without drugs, I think in my late twenties or early thirties, where "it seemed like" I was no longer on earth, (in fact that question was irrelevant), and God was taking me on a tour of the universe. What I saw what what an obscene horror, an enormous tearing of the universe even one sin was. Did God actually show me that? Well, he certainly allowed me to see that. Is my sight of that of any authority? It certainly has consequences on my thinking. Truth is, I doubt even in that experience did I get a complete perspective of how bad sin is, but it gave me a new point of view concerning how sin affects God.

I can't help but doubt anyone who says they "were there". I don't very much doubt something happened to them, usually, but their perspective is theirs --not God's. It's a little bit like the "gift of tongues" or the "gift of prophecy" --there is no new authority. Sola Scriptura.

Maybe those who have "been there" have something to say that truly edifies the church, but the pursuit of whatever is shiny is immature, and fraught with peril.

@Mark Quayle I was not making a funny or joking I am deadly serous. It happened, I became a Christian, and the Doctor said I was fine
My bad. I only saw the post by itself, didn't realize it was a follow-up.

I have had, maybe not an NDE, but a vision of some sort (see post #33) and I know the powerful effect it can have, and the complete change of point of view that follows. I hope you can understand what I mean there.

No i do not believe any of these events.

Of course with the respect for The Bible as a complete Guide to/from God (concerning, creation, salvation, discipleship, future events, etc..) at a very low level among christians. I can see where they will seek out other sources for their interest. This is also done in other areas concerning the Bible but this just reflects the lack of authority and respect given the Bible today.
These are not events that people seek out, they just happen to find themselves within them.
See post No35. My wife was 3 years old when she was taken up to heaven like Paul, what has respect for bible got to do with that.
Her family weren't believers and he never read a bible till she was 18.

Because i believe the Bible, i do not believe in these death taken to heaven accounts, even what happened to your wife at 3.

I have the Bible i need nothing else.
