Have you ever asked God what your heavenly treasures/rewards will be and how to use them? What would you say God considers to be treasures/rewards? How are you storing up treasures in heaven? What treasures have you stored up and what do you plan to do with all that?

As for me, He is going to assign me many children and all that I will need to take care of and lead them (which would be everything). Well, the crazy lists goes on. I stored them all for myself in heaven where moths and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. This faith and insight help me to overcome somethings and present myself as a living sacrifice to His calling, in this short daily life. Like, I can travel the whole universe and do all that I want for all my eternity but now is the only chance to love my enemies, serve the poor, sick, and the needy....(i can keep going with the list)...

I'm storing up my treasures in heaven by investing my present in His service. My present treasure is to have this opportunity and the ability to serve, be broken, groan, feel pain, feel fear, and take part in Christ's sufferings. It's God's love and a privilege for this life. I'm glad God wanted us to experience these emotions along with all the happiness and joy which we will have in eternity also. They are a part of "His Image" and He would not want us to miss those, being made in "His image" that we might really know, love, and worship Him in truth and in spirit. I'm able to rejoice in my sufferings because of Christ and would gladly receive more before I cannot have that anymore in my eternal life.

Please see my additional post #7 before replying. Thanks.

The point of storing our treasure in heaven isn't about literal rewards, treasures, or getting stuff--tangible or otherwise. The point of Jesus' teaching is to change the way we think about what matters, what is valuable.

If we are paying attention to Christ then we learn that we should be humble, not because we'll receive some kind of reward or boon or swag from God for being humble--but because humility is in and of itself good. Humility is the treasure. We should love our neighbor because our neighbor has value and dignity as a person, they have an empty stomach that needs food, they are thirsty and so they need water--and so our good works done for our neighbor are not so that we can get something out of it for ourselves; but because it is its own innate good. The treasure for caring about someone else is itself caring about that someone. Loving someone is the treasure.

There is no treasure vault in heaven with all kinds of goodies. But there is a King who bore a cross and wore a crown of thorns for you and me, who came to us, not to be served, but to serve. A King who came as a slave, for sinners, who teaches us that God's way of being King is not through violence, force, or through the power and values of this temporal order in this fallen world; but that God's way of being King is by giving Himself away in love, and that being part of His kingdom--His way of being King--is to also throw ourselves away in love.

If I do a good deed in the name of Christ, I will not lose my reward. I have been broken in times past as a result of my own errors and the errors of others. I was impoverished as a result of my ignorance and the dishonesty of others.

I once invested in a South American iron mine scam promoted by a con artist with a nationally syndicated radio show named Jerry Wenger. A lady friend named Beth recommended him. It was my first experience buying stocks. This company Pan World Minerals went bankrupt. I did not have much, but lost most of the little I had. The penny stock promoter Jerry Wenger was later arrested as a result of his crooked dealings.

One day I was praying. God does not want me to make bad investments in investment scams, or false charity that skimmed too much of the money for the rich charity directors. Remember Judas stole from Jesus’ Ministry funds.

Once I bought the cheapest big screen TV I could find. It broke two years later. The next TV I bought was neither the cheapest, nor the most expensive. I still have it years later.

Jesus taught when you give alms to the poor, you should not let the left hand know what the right hand is doing. You should not advertise your giving.

Luke 11:21 "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed.“
That is where a thief does not break in and steal.

For me, there cant be any bigger reward than having the holy ghost indwelling in us. My guess is, it correlates with your sanctification and glorification.

"And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” —Isaiah 6:8

GospelS,

That's all I said. I made myself available for service without expectation or recompense. I could never repay His salvation and deliverance. I felt indebted to Him and was willing to serve in the capacity He desired most for the fulfillment of His will.

I've given no thought to heaven or rewards. He called for this time and season and my attention and efforts must be wholly invested in the work He's given me to perform. I'm present minded. The well done arrives at the finish line.

Yours in His Service,

Thanks, Bella. :)

It's the eternity that drives my present. It's not for the treasures and rewards we do what we do for Him. That's not sacrificial. That's not the drive. It's Him. He is enough. He is everything.

I had to think of it and ask Him because He said it. It was a part of my word study that I'm led to as I meditated on His word that was spoken in the scriptures. I see how people under persecution (for the gospel) receive an anointing and encouragement that the other part of the world would not need, perhaps.

I remain in understanding.

I have received a couple of responses here. Does no one really believe that God will indeed give us treasures and rewards that are physical which we can use for His glory in heaven? What about something as simple as a musical instrument to create and play for Him some great music as you worship Him in heaven?

Did not Christ say that there are many mansions in heaven and He is going to prepare a place for us? What would we be doing with that place He gives us? Would it be an empty place with nothing in it and for doing nothing in it? Would you not want a place where you can grow some nice flowers and fruits because you desire to offer them to Him, as you adore Him? Some of us would be given cities to rule over alongside with Christ. There will be many areas of service in the coming earthly Kingdom of Christ, for which we are currently being trained. There are many more treasures and rewards He wants to give us.

I appreciate all the responses and participation/discussion but it seems like my simple question was not answered or understood just as it was asked. So please share what treasures you believe you would receive apart from the spiritual rewards.

A magnificent looking drumset. I've seen it already in shadow. But I'm going to be God's drummer boy in Heaven.

I'm asking for a beautiful harp and a saxophone. (I'm glad it won't need a lot of struggle to learn them when I'm there).

Perhaps king David will give you lessons and/or be your playing companion. I was member at a church that had a harpist play every now and then during worship. It's a lovely sounding instrument. The saxophone is a great instrument too. I wish more Christians played it in churches.

I think, perhaps, you did not initially receive the responses you were hoping for is because we simply don't know. There has been much speculation about what heaven will be like, but, at the end of the day, it is just speculation. Visions of heaven and its activities have been popular since the proliferation of pseudepigraphic apocalypses in the last centuries before Christ.

Regarding the phrase In my Father's house are many mansions (John 14:2), something closer to dwelling places is a better translation. This sense is reflected in most twenty and twenty-first century translations. But there is some debate on this passage; is it referring to heaven or to the Church, the Body of Christ of which Peter wrote, Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, and which Paul wrote of in Ephesians? I lean to the latter position, but your question still remains on what these cells might contain. Honestly, I don't know. It's hard to say what form these heavenly treasures would take, as there is little indication of commerce in the afterlife,* nor is the idea of hoarding wealth characteristic of the principles of Christianity. I would suspect our inherent talents and the charisms of the Holy Spirit would play some role, but I'm not sure we can know. It might be fun being an archivist of myriads of sacred texts--if heaven has a library.

* References in Isaiah and Revelation depicting the kings of the earth bringing their treasures to the holy city vary greater according to different eschatological schemes.

:) There are more on my musical tools list. A music studio with all of them to play and teach children as well. David is awesome and I'm going to take some classes from the angels too.

One day I'd like to build a music studio on earth and furnish it with all sorts of musical instruments and let people come in and play whatever they want. The business side of it would allow them to record per hour and at the end of their session they would be given a CD or DVD of whatever they recorded. I'd also like to start something that borrows out musical instruments to the homeless. That way they can go off (if they're musically inclined) and earn money by street performing.

Great idea.

I would be having an in house studio when God permits. Oh, I would be singing in different languages too.

I'm a loser. I was one of those kids, who never won any rewards as a child. In grade 7, two students would get picked for a "student of the month" award. In the last month I finally was picked. Only for some fellow class mates to bring to mind, I was the last one left anyways, so it wasn't anything special to begin with. Things like this, made me take my focus off rewards. To be honest, I haven't even thought of rewards. And whatever it is, I rather it be a surprise. I want to go into the next life, as spoiler free as I can, lol.

Treasures is another important thing, well, extremely important thing for me now. God instilled in me how we're not to store up treasures here, since my youth. Having a career, in designing action figures, and going into this career, because of my hobby and interest in it since child hood, "storing up treasures" of these material things was a challenge. To the point, I have a storage locker I rent, to store my collection. I knew in my heart always, how it went against God's word, but I hadn't questioned why I felt wrong about it. As surely, I know many other fellow brethren who collect like me. Even those who have much larger collections. Last year, a day after my birthday, I went to my locker to get something. Only to find, someone had broken in and taken some boxes. It wasn't much, but I had to report it to the police. I came back 2 days later with the police, and opening my locker for the first time, came to see, the thieves returned and took 2/3rds of my remaining collection. A loss of over $30,000 in value. I had felt quite broken. But I didn't know why. While I journeyed through this loss, God brought three people into my life. People who had suffered more loss. The first one, being a lady at the storage place, who worked there and came to see the break in, after I reported it. This lady was very friendly, and a smile on her face always. I got to know her a bit, and she had lost her own daughter, and was raising her grand child by herself, while dealing with her own health issues. It made it impossible for me to complain to God about my earthly treasures being taken. Especially since they could be replaced. But it still ate away at me.

The reason it hurt, is because I had not stored plastic materials, locked away for myself, but memories I had in cased in those plastic action figures. Many of them were bought on trips and conventions, where God has brought wonderful people into my life. So those "treasures" for me, were actually part of my life, with others, which I had stored into the wrong things. I wasn't storing them in heaven. This lead God to reveal to me my true treasures. Its the love, he allows me to experience through each one of us. And the best treasures, are those, who we share in Christ. Simply put, my relationships here right now, are my treasures in heaven. And if I want to store them in heaven, how is God working in my life, to bring those people to faith, in Jesus?

So this part, I guess is more for @GospelS .
Remember, God said it was not good for Adam to be alone in the garden. Don't just focus on you and God, in heaven. Focus on God and all of us together. How much joyful will it be, to make something together, with God, and those you love, rather than being handed it to you?

I'm asking for a beautiful harp and a saxophone. (I'm glad it won't need a lot of struggle to learn them when I'm there).

Wouldn't it be more joyful, to make a harp or saxophone, with a treasure in heaven, who you stored, in this life, by allowing God to bring them to faith in Christ? Maybe unexpectedly, that person is gifted in being a master class craftsmen in making instruments? You may learn from them to craft your own instead, making something unique, together, inspired by God. :) I hope my sharing brings your heart joy, which only is revealed through our Lord.

I can see the treasures revealed to us in the scriptures. The Holy Spirit gives an insight if we really desire to know what they are. Since everyone receives their own treasures and rewards, not everyone will agree with everyone. They are all different and that’s the beauty of it. They are designed for each one according to what each has done/will do and has to do.

I think, perhaps, you did not initially receive the responses you were hoping for is because we simply don't know. Yup, I agree and that’s what I meant. Children ministry is one of my main callings. Children are people and it’s a relationship too. So they will be assigned to me in heaven too, along with all other people and relationships. And I would be given talent, time, and resources needed to create my own variety of nice things. I would like a harp and a saxophone that angels play/have or maybe I will create one of a kind with some help.

I can understand your loss. My family and myself lost everything we had and earned for 20 years. We were left with just the clothes that we had on our bodies but we survived and blessed beyond our imagination after we lost everything. Our complete house with everything in it was ceased and taken away. All our vehicles and educational certifications too. Some of my childhood and teenage stuff is so precious to me, which I guarded with my heart. It’s all gone. We were empty, literally, with no place to lay down/rest. It was hard to console myself with the loss and we had no one to care or help us even a bit, but I have learned to lose it all and give it all away and be content with nothing.

Thanks, venksta.

Yup, I agree and that’s what I meant. Children ministry is one of my main callings. Children are people and it’s a relationship too. So they will be assigned to me in heaven too, along with all other people and relationships. And I would be given talent, time, and resources needed to create my own variety of nice things. I would like a harp and a saxophone that angels play/have or maybe I will create one of a kind, alongside others.

It is always a blessing to see God speaking through you, to all of us. God bless you sister.

Wouldn't it be more joyful, to make a harp or saxophone, with a treasure in heaven, who you stored, in this life, by allowing God to bring them to faith in Christ? Maybe unexpectedly, that person is gifted in being a master class craftsmen in making instruments? You may learn from them to craft your own instead, making something unique, together, inspired by God. :) I hope my sharing brings your heart joy, which only is revealed through our Lord.
They probably have insurance for self storage rooms. Some storage facilities are more secure than others. I live in a 55+ gated community with security patrol. The community Facebook group had a person lamenting today over a stolen golf cart charger. I keep my place locked.

I once thought laying up treasure where moth and rust do not destroy meant giving aid to people poorer than me. Somehow that is only part of what a person might do. A poor person ought not give alms to the rich who whined about not having enough.

Gold and silver is treasure, but God has greater riches in store for those who seek Jesus:

Peter 3:3 (WEB) Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 A certain man who was lame from his mother’s womb was being carried, whom they laid daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask gifts for the needy of those who entered into the temple. 3 Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive gifts for the needy. 4 Peter, fastening his eyes on him, with John, said, “Look at us.” 5 He listened to them, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” 7 He took him by the right hand and raised him up. Immediately his feet and his ankle bones received strength. 8 Leaping up, he stood and began to walk. He entered with them into the temple, walking, leaping, and praising God.

Peter had no money to give, but God helped him give a healing command.
