Since I asked this question in another thread in here but it was never answered,.. is NDE (Near death experience) real?? This one guy thinks so. What about you? I definitely believe that it's possible.

Yes NDEs are very real, for those that experience them.

The short answer is no. NDEs are not real.

The long answer is that we can safely say that the overwhelming majority of such experiences are not spiritual in nature at all, but occurs solely within a person's own brain. While we can't necessarily discount the possibility that there might be some that are more than that, there is no way to verify them; and thus they can provide us no substantial benefit in our questions about salvation, God, the afterlife, or anything related to theology and Christian faith over all.

I would say no too. I read an article once by a doctor in a critical care unit who was intrigued by some of his patients reporting NDEs where they felt they had floated up to the ceiling and looked down on their body lying in bed before suddenly being sucked back down into their body again. He put some pictures on top of some cupboards behind the patients' beds and whenever anyone reported this experience he asked them if they had seen anything on top of the cupboards. No one ever did so he concluded that the reported NDEs were just brain generated experiences.

I think it's important to define terms here. A lot of us have been in situations where moving a couple inches one way or the other would have resulted in death or where we've had an illness that puts us on the brink of death. I suspect that isn't the same thing as what those why try to hyperspiritualize these situations mean. They likely want to create a superstition out of these events.

Maybe. But i think the people talking about it on camera or making a book out of it are full of it..

It could be so. However, there are other NDEs which cannot be explained away in that fashion.

I don't know if NDEs are real or not, but just as with other unexplained phenomena, it doesn't end the discussion to point to the instances that can be explained away when there are yet others that simply defy explanation in any normal way.

I've had many visions and NDEs. All I can say is, yall's faith in Jesus is well placed and there IS a life after death because of your faith im Jesus that was beyond my wildest expectations. I believe God still gives visions and NEWS to people and is still working to ghis day. The visions of God didnt just end with Paul. They're still happening to this day.

What I saw of heaven and of the power of God, could have ONLY come from God. There was no other explanation because many of the things I saw and experienced were either the Holy Spirit or happiness and joy and peace beyond ANY of our wildest imaginations. There was no word in existance to describe what I saw and experienced to the fullest it just was eternal bliss.

Here's what's been proven real. Scientists did an experiment at a high volume surgery hospital because of the numerous NDE it was known to have. The experiment involved placing a sign on patients while they were under surgery. Of those who had NDE and found themselves floating out of their body, none, zero percent saw that sign laying on top of "their" body.

Is that real enough?

One of my ex-uncles was struck by lightening. He began going to church a lot afterwards for a time. Supposedly he gave up substance abuse for a time too.

I think it all depends on what people believe.
I've never had a "near death experience", but I have had an out of body experience on two occasions. On one occasion I had the sensation of floating above my body. I have also had the sensation that I had become a "ball" detached from the rest of my body. In my case, this was simply put down to sleep paralysis. I get it occasionally if don't get sufficient sleep. I believe our perception of reality can be changed when we are stressed, tired, or burned out. I think it could also happen in extremely dangerous or life-threatening situations such as drowning, asphyxiation, which can cause hypoxia, etc.
Are NDE's real? I can't really say for certain, but they will certainly seem real to those that are experiencing them.

Really, who?

I just have memories of the way I used to act in various circumstances, but my old reactions are just memories - the urge to act that way in the sense that "this is who I am" is no longer part of me - like I am now someone else entirely.

The changes or transformations are still ongoing, but there's quite a lot of the old me that died and is just a set of memories. As if I had lived a previous life, in this body - and now this is a new life.

I had a sense of this before as a Christian, but the degree of it now is so extreme.

They appear to be real to researchers also. For anyone who is interested in NDEs, as opposed to being intrigued by strange perceptions or sensations, etc., the best known book on the subject is Life After Life, by Dr. Raymond A. Moody, Jr.. a Christian and PhD and former professor. He never had an NDE himself, and neither affirms or debunks them, but he interviewed people who had died and come back. The reader can decide for himself what is persuasive and what is not.

At age 3, my wife had a series of third heaven experiences. They were not NDEs as she was fit and healthy and they happened in broad daylight, where her spirit was taken up into heaven.
Her parents were not Christian so there was no background input to generate the ideas.

She used to call them think dreams because at 3 she had no other words. Unfortunately, her family treated her as if she was just making stuff up, childish make believe.

But she met Jesus and others up there. She saw the heavenly city and lots more. The Lord also did various things with her related to spiritual warfare.

At age 18, she joined a church youth club, and someone gave her a bible to read. She was quite shocked when she read the description of the Heavenly city with its walls and gates made of jewels. It matched exactly what she had experienced as a child.

No i do not believe any of these events.

Of course with the respect for The Bible as a complete Guide to/from God (concerning, creation, salvation, discipleship, future events, etc..) at a very low level among christians. I can see where they will seek out other sources for their interest. This is also done in other areas concerning the Bible but this just reflects the lack of authority and respect given the Bible today.

I suppose I have another meaning for believe in.....
I don't believe in NDE, but I do think it's real. Using it to determine genuine faith.... won't do it. As much as I might like to, I think it's dangerous. For the same reasons the rich man, and lazarus, in Abraham's bosom, Luke 16.
We want people to be saved from their sin. We don't want them to just have a religious experience, without genuine repentance, and faith in Jesus.
and yes, actually..... my ideas on this have changed over the years.
God's Word, as Jesus said--- are Spirit, and they are Life.
If people won't take God at his word, they won't believe even though someone were to come back from the dead.
