Our garden has had a couple of days of steady rain, everything glistens and the orange lilies have flowered. I will try to take photos tomorrow.

Hello. Quite interesting thread. I also have a garden and even a field. We grow some fruits and vegetables here. By the way, I can share my experience with the fence. If you want to protect your territory from unexpected guests, you should install electric fence. Works really good. Hi Marillos, great to meet you and welcome to the forum in Jesus name it's a great place to be for fellowship with other Christians.
I have a fairly small garden, just the right size for me. Lots of flowers and 2 apple trees full of apples this year. :)

We've had hot dry weather and I wasn't feeling well. My multple flowers are almost dead, except for the red geraniums (pelargonium). My clematis is okay, but it's still a baby. I have one single hollyhock that will bloom next year, I hope. All else look terrible.

Sorry you are not feeling well, was it the heat? It was very hot a couple of weeks ago here, but now Autumn has arrived. A mixture of sun, rain, quite a mix.

Thank you. I feel a tad bettter today. My hip hurt a lot and I could barely walk; then my neck was stiff and I couldn't turn my head. Had trouble sleeping in bed; then couldn't stay awake in the daytime. My neighbor who never comes over knocked on my door to ask if I was okay.

Yes I find it easy to sleep in the day time, i am so sorry about your health issues. I pray for you to have relief. It was so good that your neighbour called.

The sun is setting earlier. :( It was cold a few nights ago and I had been bawling because I watched Dark Victory with Bette Davis and George Brent. I felt kind of down until I crawled in bed and pulled the covers up.

My bulbs will be here soon! :) That's exciting --- I'll have more Thalia and Barrett Browning daffodils!
I'm especially excited about the Thalia triandrus daffodils; they're amazing!

I bought a small Christmas rose plant which looks lovely against the blue green of some small conifers.
I also love daffodils :)

My gardening days are over forever! I have the worst case of poison ivy that I have ever had and my daughter has poison ivy, too. She was helping me. Good-bye, flowers!
So sorry to hear about your problems in the garden.
It has been a beautiful day here in the North West of England. Almost like summer!
I have been trimming and tidying up bushes and plants in the sunshine. :)

Not at all, Phoebe Ann, head up :). Declare your ivy poison enemy war and then apply the old rule from Wild West: First to fire, longest to live.

If possible, borrow/hire a goat for a 1-2-3 days. A goat will consider your ivy poison in exact the same way as a four year old given a gallon of jelly beans and marsmallows with no restrictions and no supervision: This means PARTY! As goats don’t get more hurted of an ivy poisson than a person (without allergy) from a birch, the ivy poisson should’t have any reasonable possibily of staying alive for long.

Should the goat option for some reason not be available, get some lbs of salt and about a half barrel of vinegar acid 35 %. Combine 3/4 gallon of vinegar acid 35 %, 1/2 gallon of water and a large cup om salt. Heat the mixture just as much as required for getting the salt completely dilluted, than cool and and add a large teaspoon of strong diswashing liquid. Cover up with boots, long (and thick) pants/coat, gloves and and mask. Use a pressore can and give your enemy a real and thorought shower: Use tthe entire portion of about 5/4 gallon upon ONE ivy poisson and spread it well. (And avoid any plants around as this liquid attacts ANY plants not only the ivy poisson.) After attacking, wash apparel and boots well. Repeat the attacks every 5-8 days until the murder can be consideed totally committed (typical 8-12 repeats) When the murder is committed remove EVERYTHING remindering about ivy poisson and DON’T burn it as you (or your neighbors -kan get the poisson to your skin from the smoke. Apply - repleatedly - plenty of bleach to the area where the ivy possion grew for twarting any trace of root missed.

Thank you so much for the solution to our enemy! I'm going to mail this to my daughter.

Last week we had warm spring-like temperatures! It was so pleasant. Now old man winter has returned. The itty bit of snow will melt "licketysplit."

I bought seeds for my daughter because the perennial Maximilian sunflower seeds attract goldfinches.

Helianthus maximiliani is a North American species of sunflower known by the common name Maximilian sunflower. This sunflower is named for Prince Maximilian of Wied-Neuwied, who encountered it on his travels in North America. Wikipedia

These flowers resemble tickseed but are much taller.

I can see signs of Spring in my Garden. Daffodils nodding merrily, tulips in bud and ready to flower. Lots of plants showing signs of life :)

Your weather is milder that ours. By the end of March maybe we'll see some green coming up. In May we'll be experiencing non-freezing temperatures until fall.

My bulb flowers are up and growing. We started with rain early this morning which turned to snow and we ended up with about an inch of very heavy snow. It is actually quite lovely to see the blades of the flowers against the snow. They will probably be in bloom by Easter.

It is lovely to read of others gardens, particularly the flowers since I have pretty much given up on them due to where I am it has come down to survival of the fittest.
This means I am happy if I have some greenery and my trees.
The weather is just too harsh now, in Summer once the sun is out it frizzles any petals and in Winter I get frost.
Rainfall is very sporadic.
So even though once upon a time the garden was filled with flowers, cottage garden style, now I've pretty much stuck to native plants.
The climate has definitely changed over the years and so many plants died.

The last week I have been planting some shrubs in small tubes hoping to fill in the many gaps, have more habitat for the smaller birds.

I have to dig and then break it up with a crowbar, fill the hole with water, leave and then repeat before putting in some bought garden soil and compost and then planting.
Then water until well and truly established.

I do have some geraniums in pots on the edge of the verandah, in Summer the flowers would come out and by the end of the day would be burnt.
So I will enjoy everyone else's description of their lovely gardens:)

As I read your post I began thinking of Australia. Your description seemed to find that continent so closely. Then when I read your profile and discovered that, indeed, you do live in Australia, it all made perfect sense. You do have my sympathy.
