In some ways I did not either until I was older. Yet I knew when I was young that women were treated like children into adult hood and men had to take on a more parental role. I didn't really have much of a concept of biology and especially evolution back then.
I don't think I noticed the same. But I've observed my response to certain male stimuli which makes me feel girlish and child-like. I don't get that from every one. But in certain connections it's evident.
We never confronted them either, but as a man in a mostly female household the differences about how I was treated compared to my sisters were hard not to notice and think about.
I used to steal away with my dad and grandfather. I loved tools and putting things together and painting. What we call DIY today. The women didn't know what I was doing. They assumed I was spending time with them. But I wanted to work! I do the same things today.
Yeah sometimes I wish I took the time to learn an instrument. An electric guitar would have been nice. Never too late I guess.
I tried different things! Flute, piano, clarinet, alto clarinet (swapped for clarinet), and instruments we made in school. I never played the recorder. I played around with the violin when my daughter took lessons. I christened it the screech box when she resumed it in high school! I'm going to return to the piano. I may pick up the harp. But the violin is appealing too.
I doubt your reading skills are rusty, especially with the amount of books you consume. Lol.
Heck no, I read fast. But I was speaking of music. I don't read notes frequently enough to stay on top of it.
Something that just takes practice. A lot of art is just knowing how to structure things. The average person is more capable than they imagine.
I'll learn in school. The programs I'm attending will teach us. I've refined my eye over the years. I know the look, shape and aesthetic that appeals to me. I use it here to some degree. But that isn't commercial.
I like symmetry in facial features and the female form. An exaggerated waist is good. Do the same with the hips? Nah. You look like you're spilling out your clothes. I prefer an hourglass. The rectangle is next.
That's something I might need to work on. I do take more of the philosophy that looking and acting stupid is part of the learning experience. I want to take chances, even if I end up making a fool of myself.
It wasn't a question of looking stupid. There are topics I've never delved into. A former acquaintance enjoyed reading clinical journals on psychosexuality. That wasn't my shtick. But I perused them to get a sense of his perspective.
