Has anybody ever tried it? Is it even available in local supermarkets?

I only like it when it is super cold. Warm, or even room temp, makes me gag. And I have had it super fresh, right off the goat! It was OK---but I prefer moo milk. I do, however, love goat cheese. It's my favorite cheese. And I even make it at home. I buy powdered goat milk and make yogurt with it, then I drain it, like yogurt cheese.
I had one brother that would not be here if it weren't for goat milk. He was a baby and very sick, my father ran to the hospital with him in his arms (This was in Honduras.) He stopped breathing when he arrived, but they brought him back. He could keep no food down. For a solid year he had nothing but goat's milk. Only thing that he kept down. After that, they were able to wean him off it. He is 76 and got to 6 ft 5 in. and 350 lbs!!! Dr. made him go on diet at that!

Hmm,.. interesting. I thought that goat cheese was a thing though. I wonder how the taste is like. With both the cheese and milk.

AR,

I don’t drink goat milk but I love goat cheese and goat milk soap. We have the liquid and powdered version in the store. There’s also a farmer that sells goat shares (milk).

Yours in His Service,

~Bella

I'm curious why you ask.

I raised goats for a while. I've had goat milk that was - well, ugh, and I've had goat milk that I couldn't tell wasn't cow milk - sweet and creamy. Quick chilling made a difference, so did feed, and some goats just didn't give a good-flavor milk so we culled them out in favor of the ones that had better flavor. I've also kept a few cows so I had a basis to compare fresh cow to fresh goat milk. I can say that goats don't hit you in the face with a manure-soaked tail while you are milking them, and if they step on your foot they are much less damaging, but thankfully I only experienced the tail to the head issue personally. I decided the cow liked me milking her and was swatting flies. If you ever get into that position, you can decide for yourself. (lol)

Goat milk cheeses, like commercial cow milk cheeses, can be really different depending on the kind. I like mozzarella whether goat or cow, but there are some strong flavors people like in cheeses that I don't like. One of these days I'll open the Parmesan goat cheese my kids made back some years ago...by now it ought to be well aged, if nothing else. (lol) Somehow I was never fond of Feta.

I have never had store-bought goat milk. I did know some folks who didn't like it, and haven't met anyone who bought it regularly because they liked it.

I've heard it's much closer to human milk than cow milk is - much easier for babies to digest. I'm glad it was helpful for your brother!

Oddly enough, it came up in conversation.

Regular milk almost makes me gag even when cold. I like it just about any other way but the liquid form.

So, goatmilk, warm? I don't even like to think about it.

I am actually a huge milk drinker,.. I have been ever since I was little. So even though my muscles are probably weak at least I have nice strong bones and teeth. :D

It is hard to describe.---it's "goaty!!" I don't know, like old, grassy socks! I don't like the milk as much as the cheese. A part of it is the smell, ever smelled a goat? Hard to describe! It tastes like how it smells!!! LOL! I really can't find the words.

"Goat's milk is a good option if you want a beverage with a similar nutritional profile to whole cow’s milk but you have trouble digesting lactose. On the downside, a 1-cup serving of goat's milk is high in calories (168) and saturated fat (6.5 g), and it also contains 27 mg of cholesterol.

According to the Mayo Clinic, limiting saturated fats in your diet can help reduce your blood cholesterol levels and lower your risk of coronary artery disease.
Butuza notes that it's difficult to find a low-fat version of goat's milk, and that it has fewer essential vitamins and minerals than cow's milk."

It's ok. I prefer cow's milk. I'm 69 and I drink a lot of milk. It's surely done me no harm. You may have to shop around to get it. Middle East food shops will likely have some.
