What’s mythical is Trump handling this pandemic . Or should I say mishandling ! 199,000 dead Americans!
Trump did not order nursing homes to accept covid positive patients, blue state governors did. Get your facts straight before posting garbage.

So you think it's Trumps fault that the NY state government seeded nursing homes with COVID patients?

Talked big??

Beats me. I've cudgeled my brain, and I'll be jiggered if I can figure out what he did. Those Nobel Prizes used to be handed out for some sort of accomplishment, and I have no idea what Obama did to get one. (shrug)

The guy who built the Ark before the rain started to fall lived.

The ones who scoffed at him died.

If you read the actual story in the Book, God saved Noah and his entire family, as well as the animals with him---He didn't simply abandon them to drown in the catastrophe.

There's another story in the Book, too---at the end of days, while the world is literally imploding, God returns and rescues His people instead of simply abandoning them to perish in the catastrophes. That is, if you really believe in that sort of thing.

I do, but what with the new religion of rabid environmentalism, I can see why many of its adherents would no longer believe that God can save His creations from world-shattering destruction. I mean, if you listen to them, not even God has the power to stop global climate change. :)

Thanks for letting me know. I had no idea.

, God returns and rescues His people instead of simply abandoning them to perish in the catastrophes. That is, if you really believe in that sort of thing.

If you go back and actually read the story, God rescues the people who REALLY DO follow Him. Not the ones who SAY they follow Him.

As I said, the one who built the Ark before the rain fell, God saved. The ones who scoffed at him died.

And that includes the people who say, "No, no need to build anything. And if the earth floods, God will take care of us.". No, you didn't follow God's command. Also in the actual story is that it is God who shut the door to the Ark. Sorry if that makes you feel "abandoned," but that is what happened.

I live in NYC. I don’t believe that story . Hospitals were seriously overrun . And if they had to go to rehab homes that’s SOP for patients who have chronic problems but the emergency care system of a hospital isnt appropriate . I don’t think doctors realized how contagious this is at the time .

I know anti maskers think that this isn’t a problem . And they still want to blame blue state governors for trying to prevent hospitals from being too full to function . We finally had to build temporary hospital/hospices in Central Park and other public parks . That’s how bad it got !

Yeah, I heard that the Navy pulled a 1,000-berth hospital ship into New York, and treated exactly 182 patients before it was decided they weren't really contributing much and were reassigned. Quite a panic. ^_^

I have a problem with Trump being responsible for 190 thousand dead.
Are they trying to assert that these deaths were all preventable?
Wouldn't the number (today listed at 180 thousand) be some -spread-
between the ideal response and the slacker response?

Is it accurate to blame Trump?

I can go to the library and see if Scientific American gave any warnings in Dec, Jan, Feb, or March.
. You do realize that the December , January and February issues Of SciAm were written 3 months earlier in September, October and November

these are the numbers for NYC , Long Island and Westchester county. Kings county is Brooklyn and Richmond county is Staten Island . 1/10 of the NYC people who caught this died . Panic was actually necessary !

I still recall that when we were originally ordered into lockdown, we were never told it was to avoid all death. We were told it was to flatten the curve. Meaning, there would be death, but the hospitals would not be overwhelmed.

Those blaming Trump with 190 thousand death have conveniently forgotten the original reason why we went into lockdown.

. I live within a short distance of elmhurst hospital . Three of my immediate neighbors in the same building had the virus and 2 died from it. My building only has 18 apartments. The ambulances were running day and night . You couldn’t sleep, the sirens would wake you. My youngest also caught it . The emergency room at elmhurst is set up so that every one is in the same general area but most hospitals are like that . That this set up can spread respiratory illness is obvious

. Flattening the curve worked in NYC. We’ve had less than 10 deaths per day recently down from about 1000.
They had to flatten the curve because there is no vaccine or cure for this virus and the only thing they can do at this point is to prevent people from catching it . Our governor had enough sense not to listen to Trump and his lies . He locked down and even shut down our subway system at night to clean the cars( shut downs only happen during natural disasters like hurricanes ) . The buses couldn’t collect fares to prevent the drivers from getting sick and the entire front of the bus was blocked off.

.We've almost reopened completely at this point . You’re still required to wear masks in stores and on public transportation. Restaurants have been allowed to build seating areas in the streets and on the sidewalks outside .

You are entirely missing my point in your haste to dump everything on Trump.

My point is, and I am going to put it in CAPS in case it is still unclear:

WE WERE NEVER TOLD OR PROMISED THERE WOULD BE NO DEATH. WE WERE ONLY TOLD WE COULD FLATTEN THE CURVE.

For the most part, the curve has been flattened in NY and all over the US. The US hospitals are not overrun. Yes, they are stressed but they are able to handle the crisis. That is what flatten the curve is supposed to achieve. ZERO DEATH WAS NEVER PROMISED.

Every year, the flu kills an estimated 80,000 people in the US. Who should we blame for these deaths? Since we are blaming Trump for pandemic deaths, who should we blame for yearly flu deaths?

I am glad you brought this up because most people are not even aware of that. The mainstream media has kept a lid on the fact that the NY governor is being sued for forcing nursing homes to accept covid patients, thus spreading the disease in the very vulnerable population there.

. Trump lied about a virus we have no immunity to. No biologist would tell you that a virgin field epidemic was nothing to worry about. I’ve got that biology degree and I knew Trump was bsing from day one . My knowledge probably saved members of my family’s lives as a lot of us live in NYC. Only my youngest caught it and he had a mild case. If you wear a mask you tend to get less of the virus in your lungs if you catch it and that allows you to fight it off better.

Some people are immune to the flu because it’s been around for centuries. Even though the flu virus evolves to be continually infectious, we can fight it off better because as a species we’ve been exposed to it before. Covid19 is a novel virus which mean no one had exposure . That’s what a virgin field means .
I see idiots thinking that “their rights” are going to fight off a virus that been well known to be a killer and it makes me want to cry . Wear the mask !!!!!!

I see that your biology degree and your knowledge of Virgin fields was worth more than the medical and scientific degrees and years of experience of Dr Fauci who himself at the beginning of the pandemic told people to NOT WEAR MASKS and even ridiculed people who wore masks.

And you are just regurgitating what is brand new knowledge when you say "If you wear a mask you tend to get less of the virus in your lungs if you catch it and that allows you to fight it off better." People didn't know that months ago. They were saying "wearing a mask does not protect you, it protects others."

Your bias is obvious. Trump is guilty of everything. including pandemic deaths. If you choose to believe that, there is nothing anyone can say.

Reading the above post, and commenting from a safe distance, with no personal experience of the US coronavirus issue, I suspect the American concern about "rights" had at least something to do with the spread of coronavirus.

I also did a bit of research fairly early on, and it seems that 120 million people flew into the US in 2018. I assume a similar or higher figure would apply for 2020. That means that about 2.4 million people fly into the US in an average week.

A lot of those passengers would then have caught a connecting flight to another state, of which you have 50. So it's no surprise it spread so quickly and so widely.

However it seems to me that the tension between federal and state governments in the US means that it's a lot more difficult to enforce a uniform system of compliance.

In a less democratic country like China, the government could order cities and provinces into lockdown, and it would have been dangerous to disagree. We had lockdown ourselves, and the state of Victoria is still in fairly heavy lockdown mode.

But it's getting to the point for us in Australia that we are going to have to start easing up, or the economic consequences will be disastrous.

The Europeans for example seem to be moving towards an attitude of living with the virus rather than trying to defeat it outright.

Why aren't we seeing Europe lock down again in the face of another COVID-19 wave?

It wouldn't matter who was US President - he or she would be in a no-win situation.
