Unless the Founding Fathers had a time machine, they didn’t steer away from democracy based on the French Revolution that started two years after the U.S. Constitution was written.
Whomp, whomp.

Didn't Obama once say to about the other side "We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for a ride, but they gotta sit in back."

So the real question is does the other side have the Constitutional legal right to pursue the filling of the SC seat, YES or NO. The answer is YES.

Is it therefore the end of democracy or the end of the Republic by making use of one's legal right? No. Legal is Legal. Some might be upset that it happens but it's still legal and would the Dems do anything different if it were reversed? I hardly think so.

So legal is the standard? Ok. I look forward to your full throated support when the Democrats retaliate by adding an extra 2 or 4 justices to the court after the election. After all, its legal so why not?

Well of course they had time machines. How else did they get all those airplanes for the Revolutionary War?

I don't agree with Senate Democrats threatening to retaliate with the extra seats.
Anything else would make them look like even bigger losers.

I disagree. Christians should not go this far in supporting the agents of chaos just to pine for stable norms when the expected results occur.
I don't understand what you mean. I don't mean that we should be inactive, but that we should do our best in resisting a civil war and not get caught up in the rhetoric. I sadly see it as an unavoidable outcome apart from a move of the Holy Spirit, so my statement for Christians is that we just need to make sure that whatever we do it is what God would have us do, and not what we do in the name of politics.

No, he got rich by being born to a rich parent who kept bailing him out when he failed. Not sure how that applies here, though.
Trump lied about the value of his properties on loan applications. Trump took out bank loans and did not pay back. Trump hired people and did not give them their full pay. Trump promised to build a wall and make the Mexicans pay in exchange for their votes, another failed contract.

Sure he's been less than ethical since getting all that money from daddy, too.

His casino was losing money. His dad bought many thousands of dollars worth of chips as an unofficial loan to his greedy business empire.

You still have slavery. It's just either in prisons or with moderately persecuted human trafficking.

You don't have legal slavery. What is Moderate about human trafficking.

Yes, we all know Mitch McConnell was wrong for not having a vote on Merrick Garland in 2016.

True he should have held the vote and allowed the Republican Senate to reject Garland.

What other options do they have? The GOP have basically stolen two seats now. Are the Democrats just supposed to go ‘aww shucks’?

If trump retains the presidency and the senate, who's betting on them expanding adding 3 more republican judges.

Agree, they shouldn't attempt to negotiate with the Trump party, they should just do it.

I totally support retaliation, but it needs to be against the people doing it--not against the country. Adding more justices only trashes the country even further. The judicial branch is the last bastion of government relatively insulated from all the political nonsense fueling the dumpster fire.

True he should have held the vote and allowed the Republican Senate to reject Garland.

That would have been a "smart" political move by the Trump Party. Similar to the kangaroo impeachment trial in the Senate. They were more transparent by not even bringing it to vote. If you're going to be criminal, at least try and not make it obvious. Trump just gets in your face and claims he is not criminal, because anything he says and does by definition is the law.

"ActBlue processed $11,383,676 in donations between 9:22 PM and 11:10 PM. That's $105,404.41 per minute, $1,756.74 per second. There's no sign of slowing down."

ActBlue raises $100 million in 38 hours after Supreme Court announced Ginsburg’s death

“Small-dollar donors have now given $100 million on ActBlue since 8 p.m. ET Friday, investing in candidates up and down the ballot and orgs on the front lines of the impending judicial confirmation fight,” ActBlue said in a tweet Sunday morning. “The grassroots is ready to fight to honor Justice Ginsburg’s legacy.”

By contrast, the Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee and two affiliated fundraising committees raised $210 million in all of August. ActBlue has raised nearly half that amount in the 38 hours since the Supreme Court announced that Ginsburg had died.
