She is half paralyzed, has to have a feeding tube to eat, and more and more I can see her mind slipping away.
Thank you for telling me this.

I simply pray and trust God with this . . . while I do well to simply obey Him and do what He has me do.

Likewise, my companion is suffering with something; we don't know what it is. So, I offer myself to God to do what He pleases. And be ready to do any good He has me doing. And be there for her.

God through action (being the direct cause) or inaction (not intervening to prevent) destroys almost everything I care about having.
God does nothing ( again action/inaction) to help me while I beg for help.
God continues to pile spiritual things on me despite the fact that I don’t care.
And somehow this is supposed to make me love and trust him.

can anyone explain how this is supposed to work?
I am sorry you are going through a tough time. Our faith is constantly tested mostly because we are still in the flesh and sometimes it is the will of the Father to test. Be faithful during this time. My prayers are with you. Be blessed.

The slang version of this is, God has sent the hounds of hell after you. Been there a time or two myself.
He is God, we are not. He can do anything He wants with His creation. We are part of His creation.
He has something in mind for you. You had better listen to Him and quit throwing a temper tantrum with Him. He will have His way, He is God.
But at the end of this rocky path that you are having to walk, you will thank Him. Godspeed my brother.

Been there done that.

Hat I mean is I don’t care about any of the spiritual things any more. He can keep all of that.
As for blame, I am not sure if he is the cause, but in any case he has damned sure not prevented the destruction.

Well the main thing being withheld is the healing for my wife(age 51, multiple strokes, slowly declining). I no longer care what his purpose for this is. He has already screwed over my heart’s desire. My heart’s desire was a easy and mostly painless life. I modified it to removal of the painful situations I am currently going through, but He has no interest in that.
You have locked in your circumstances by your attitude. God is not your butler. Why should He help you when you blame Him for all your problems? The smart thing to do is to humble yourself, say that you don't know why these things are happening and that you need His help.

People overeat, won't exercise, get obese and suffer all kinds of health problems as a result. Is that God's fault? Could He not have stopped people? Yes, He could. Then He would be violating the free will that He gave people. That is not going to happen.
How do you know what God interested in? Since when were Christians promised a pain free life? His Word has a great deal to say about suffering and plenty to say about how God delivers His people. God's grace is sufficient during trials. But a trial will come to an end when it has achieved God's purpose. I can assure you that His purpose is not evil, it is not arbitrary, it for your good, not for your harm. God does not send temptations. We bring most of our problems on ourselves. How can anyone blame God for their own folly? Yet people do. You do not have to be one of those people.

Yo, I can see that you're going through some really tough times, so I don't blame you for being frustrated. But I think you're looking at this from an angle that won't do you any good.

A truth to life is that things happen. Things that we can't comprehend the reason why, because we're not all-knowing. But that's the point of faith. We're supposed to have faith that God has our backs, no matter what terrible things happen in our lives.

And on another note, don't you think you're missing the point? Meaning, the promise of eternal life. Our acceptance of Christ as our savior and our faith in God aren't to guarantee us a painless life on Earth, they're to deliver us from sin. Our lives on Earth are going to have pain and suffering, and those who choose to accept Christ may find themselves experiencing even more than the average joe. But God's promise to us is that, in the end, it'll all be worth it, 'cause we'll be going to a place where there's no more pain, suffering or sorrow.

Btw, I hope the best for you and your wife. I'm really sorry to hear what you two have been going through.

The problems I am having have shown me that He absolutely does NOT have my back. I am also getting very close to the point that no matter what he has waiting for me cold not possibly be enough to make up for the pain.

Brother, we live in a fallen world. Things happen that is not of God, by God or approved by God. We can blame God, it's easy to do, but God's will is always the best for you. Things happen in this fallen world, because it is just that, fallen. God is good bro, more good than we can imagine, a holy and just God. He is light and love and no evil can come from him, but God can allow things that are hard for us, for the work of a higher good. If bad things are happening to you, blame the accuser, the devil, and go to God, thank Him for being with you in your distress. He is feeling with you, and knows you from the inside out.

Christ love,
Peter

Jesus said, “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love” (John 15:10).

John wrote: And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight (1 John 4:22).

We have to understand that we abide in the grace of God by faith, but faith without works (of obedience) is dead (James 2:17). If we are not living a life of obedience, we do not have faith, and God will not intervene when we call upon Him.

We must set our hearts to serve the Lord Jesus with all that we have; to read His words in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and conform our lives to His word (not His words to our lives). When we start living by faith, God hears us!

God bless!

When I was young and in the navy, My wife and I attended a small church that taught the Gospel. I thought I was born again and life went on. After college, my career took off and we attended a larger church. It wasn’t until Christ came to me when I was 36 that I was Truly born again. That was over 30 years ago. I promise you that He is very real as is The Word of God. The first thing that happened was that I was called by God The Father. He handed me over to Christ. The major experience I had with God The Father was that I received His Perfect Love. Life has not been easy but He has always watched out for me. I don’t know how your Christian walk has been going but reading The Word and being filled with The Holy Spirit are essentials. In John 6, Christ Said we must eat His flesh and drink His Blood. He was The Word of God made flesh and His Life’s Blood was The Holy Spirit. Seek and you shall find is a promise. Please consider Job.

With his omniscience (all knowing) and omnipotence (all powerful) EVERYTHING has his approval, either actively or passively through inaction. He knew what would happen and didn’t say, “No.” or, “That will happen, but not affect.” I am sick of everyone refusing to let any negative responsibility go to God. He chose the plan for each of our lives. He knew what would happens and did nothing to stop the evil. He decided that this horrendous thing would happen. He chose not to fix the problem. If you go back far enough, He is responsible for all of it. He created Lucifer, knowing What he would do. He put the tree in the Garden, again knowing the choice humans would make, condemning countless people to eternity in Hell. No Devil and no Tree equals no pain no need for Hell.

Do you believe in free will?

God doesn't want us to sin, yet we can choose to do it. Would you say God is approving of our sin?

No, free will is an illusion. It is impossible to exist with an omniscient God with a plan. Because either He wouldn’t know what we were going to do, or His plan could be derailed. Both of those are directly contradicted in the Bible.

Knowing the future is by no means the same as causing the future. Just because God knows what wrong decisions we will make and which evil things we'll experience does not make Him responsible for it.

Do you have children? If you reproduce and have a child you can know with certainty that your child will make wrong decisions in life. Everyone of us makes mistakes, your child will do them, too. Are you causing the mistakes of your child? No - it's the mistakes your child makes on its own. The fact that you "created" a child does not make you responsible for your child's decisions later on in their life. Especially not when you teach your child exactly what is wrong and what is right like God taught us without any doubt.

OP, I know how you feel.

I've just gone though the 21st company restructure in my career across a number of companies. This is the 20th that has been detrimental to me. Prior to this I had tried to change job but twice got put in a place where a senior free mason who had clear anti-Christian objectives were my immediate supervisors. I also suffer from health issues, suffered from violent and psychological abuse as a child, every time I try to better my situation something happens block it working. The free masons were when I tried to go self employed in financial services for which you need to work under a network/mentor which is where they came in; then the pandemic. The previous attempt was going well but that was 2008 when the credit crunch happened. My brother committed suicide. I'm still waiting for my lucky break but reckon I must be on about 25+ unlucky breaks. I can pretty much guarantee that if I get to a point I think things are getting better that is the cue for something to happen, like someone high up in the company will decide on a restructure that takes my job I have worked hard to get to and enjoy out of a company so I will have to be moved to a job at a lower level where I will not get a pay rise until the pay for that job gets to the level I am on (this exact thing has happened several times) and its a horrible job every time. I'm nearly 50 now and this has spanned my whole life, including 22 years as a Christian.

I have reached the point where I have told God I will not tell anyone that He is a God who blesses until I see evidence of it in my life. I am worn out, there is nothing left. I feel like the opposite of Job. He was greatly blessed and protected by God, except for a short time and after was blessed again. I have been cursed and for a short time had blessing. My love for God was very strong, I was active in the gifts of the spirit, happily gave over my tithe, served in the church and other voluntary settings. Then it went back to the old stuff. Bosses were replaced with bullies restructures meant I was moved into jobs no one else would do and the alternative was being sacked, my health deteriorated, my church changed from truly worshipping God to it being all about what we get from God (this appears to be more widespread though). If anything the short period of blessing makes things worse because I now know what Im missing.

Why? Where is God? Why do so many bad things completely outside my control always happen and none that benefit me? My prayer for maybe the last year has been to ask God to just reveal why this keeps happening. Im not asking Him to change it any more, Im not asking Him to bless me any more, just to reveal why I have had so many years of suffering from things outside my control.

"casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

So, this is what I need to do. I need to cast all my concern upon God who cares for us. And do not let evil decide if I trust You or not.

My companion could have cancer, for all I know. She could die . . . be already dead . . . for all I know. Or she could get COVID-19 and I might never be allowed near her again.

And it sounds like you are able to actually be with your wife; so I would be very appreciative of how much time you are given to share with her. You can love her now and encourage her, and be thankful for how God is trusting you with time with her now.

My companion does not belong to me, she is not my property. She belongs to God. So, yes I give God the responsibility for her, for Him to decide all He pleases to do with her, and if He pleases to include me in blessing her and loving her.

And yes she has done things and not done things so maybe she has helped herself to become less healthy than she could be. And she could have a better attitude; but has she invested, has she sown, so now she is reaping a good and healthy attitude?

You now are reaping in yourself, according to how you have been sowing for an attitude. It looks like you need to change what you are sowing so you reap what is so better. And only with trusting in Jesus can we do this.

What I have learned is trusting God is unconditional. I do not at all dictate how God takes care of me or my companion or you and your wife. But I now trust You. I do hold God responsible, but while seeing Him as the only One who is good to do what really is good. And no one and nothing else is able to do what is good and loving.

And when I see that I or my companion could be in trouble, I might think of how Jesus says >

"He who loves his life will lose it" (in John 12:25).

So, I stand warned not to love my own life, and not to try to possess my companion, but unconditionally trust God and seek Him to correct me so I simply am the right way in my attitude and doing what He wants.
