Russia intends to be the first in the world to approve a coronavirus vaccine, in less than two weeks -- despite concerns about its safety, effectiveness and over whether the country has cut essential corners in development, CNN has learned.

But Russia has released no scientific data on its vaccine testing and CNN is unable to verify its claimed safety or effectiveness. Critics say the country's push for a vaccine comes amid political pressure from the Kremlin, which is keen to portray Russia as a global scientific force. There are also wide concerns the human testing of the vaccine is incomplete.

It’ll help get some crucial votes on the constitution through. If it does nothing to protect against the virus that’s next year’s problem.

Not only that, but siince Russia is not likely to let the outside world know if it doesn't work, Trump can blame the Dems for not letting us use it here.

This is actually very interesting. Didn't use the link, but I guess this is saying in August, it goes directly to the public?

And Dems can blame Trump for....oh, that's right, anything and everything.

Please.

Actually Russia will just blame someone for sabotaging the great patriotic vaccine.

Whomever is on top of the hit list at the time. Rest of the conspirators can be added later.

The Russians can blame the Democrats/Pelosi/Soros. That way it is a solid win for both Russia and Trump.

It may not be a full release....from the linked article

While some global vaccines are in the third phase of trials, the Russian vaccine is yet to complete its second phase. Developers plan to complete that phase by August 3, and then conduct the third phase of testing in parallel with the vaccination of the medical workers.
Russians scientists say the vaccine has been quick to develop because it is a modified version of one already created to fight against other diseases.

A growing chorus of experts is calling on Russian scientists to explain potential discrepancies in the data supporting the country's COVID-19vaccine, dubbed Sputnik V.

Russia was the first country to authorize a COVID-19 vaccine, but it did so before completing proper scientific studies to show it is safe and effective.

Now, with questions about Russia's vaccine swirling, experts interviewed by ABC News expressed concern about the country's swift action to disseminate the unproven vaccine to low and middle-income countries, noting that if the vaccine were to prove a failure, it could fuel vaccine skepticism globally.

Bucci, who heads a science integrity company called Resis, in Italy, published an open letter on his blog about Russian's vaccine study. The letter quickly gained additional signatories, and on Sept. 7, the scientists submitted their formal complaint to The Lancet.

The letter highlighted data irregularities in the study that appear to be duplicated. It has now been signed by a total of 38 experts.

"We do not allege misconduct, we just want them to provide additional data," said Dr. Konstantin Andreev, one of the signatories and a microbiologist and biophysicist affiliated with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Northwestern University.

"The thing is that they try to start distributing the vaccine even before completing Phase 3 clinical trials, and the Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials described contain only a very, very small number of patients, only 76 patients, [an] enormously small [amount] for such an important topic," said Andreev. Russia was able to initially skip the Phase 3 clinical trials due to differences in international regulatory agencies.

Russia is talking to at least 20 countries about exporting the vaccine, including Brazil, Cuba, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. If the vaccine is given to people before it's properly tested, however, the consequences could be catastrophic.

"If what we end up with is people in poor countries getting untested vaccines, first of all, ethically, that's a disaster," said Dr. Ashish Jha, the dean of Brown University's School of Public Health.

My good friend Putin said very strongly that this vaccine is great. I don't know any reason why we wouldn't trust this Russian vaccine.

Fast forward 2 weeks later after vaccine has side effects much worse than anticipated:

I meant "would". I don't know any reason why we would trust this Russian vaccine. Those darn "nt" letters will get you every time.

IF. On the other hand, if it were successful, it could greatly turn world opinion in Russia's favor....

...which are they really worried about?

Among those countries purchasing Russia's vaccine are our neighbors to the south, who are being ravaged quite badly by the virus right now.

The problem with this is that IF it is successful it will help with this particular epidemic.

IF it proves to be any kind of vaccine disaster it will affect the opinions of people who don’t really have the faculties to differentiate between different forms of vaccines or their design processes for generations to come causing potentially vastly more deaths then what they hope to save now.

One can only hope. Maybe parents will turn against vaccine in general and good old friends like polio can make their well-deserved comeback.

We have processes to determine (at least initially) whether a vaccine is safe and effective.

Going forward without doing these steps amounts to experimenting on your paying customers.

Despite the trials showing it to be as effective as those produced by Pfizer and Moderna.

FTA: "EMA said that it had received no data from Russia or Hungary on Sputnik V or any other COVID-19 vaccine."

The health agencies of the world can't just rely on media reports. They have to be shown the data.

Phase III trials have not yet even been completed.
