The CDC says it is still tracing cases to the Maine event

A wedding reception in Maine has apparently triggered at least 147 cases of COVID-19, including three deaths—a spreading of the virus that one health official likens to "a giant tube of glitter." The CDC says the August 7 event in Millinocket spread the disease to a prison and a nursing home that are each more than 100 miles away, CNN reports. "What we are dealing with is a giant tube of glitter. You open a tube of glitter in your basement then two weeks later you are in the attic and all you find is glitter and have no idea how it got there," says Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah. "That's what Covid-19 is like. You open up glitter in Millinocket and next thing you know you are finding traces of it at a jail complex in York County."

That is a 2 percent death rate so far. It brings a higher hospitalization rate.

Almost 18 have been infected in my 55+ community. Four were hospitalized, one of those long term. They were attending community dining and dancing without face masks. We have a new face mask rule as a result.

I wonder if the people holding the wedding feel any responsibility at all for the deaths, or whether they think "meh, not anyone in my family so who cares".
Did they bring gifts?

If I understand the right-wing propaganda correctly, they're all very happy about their freedoms or something.

If they traced it back to a gas station or grocery store would they then say we can't go there either? It didn't start at the reception.

They would state not to go there if the gas station was violating a law during the time the transmission occurred. The gas station would actually face penalities if it lead to an outbreak while violating a law.

Having 65 people in an enclosed building violated a law. It is unlikely those who planned this and the church who allowed it did not know they were violating a law. So yes, they are culpable as if they had followed the law, this very well may not have happened.

So, if it was general knowlege that something was dangerous, and everyone told you it would be stupid for you and your friends to get together and do it, and one of your friends went home and his grandmother died because of what you and your friends did, would you feel remorseful about what you did?

From the sounds of it, you would not since, well, "it didn't start with you" (and it wasn't YOUR grandmother that died anyways).
