Very true, but let me tell you another truth. I live in Sheffield near Hillsborough, you may have heard of the football team? Now as you drive or walk through Hillsborough into the next village called Wadsley, there is a stone marker located on a bridge, the river that flows underneath the bridge marks the boundary between Hillsborough and Wadsley. On the stone boundary marker are the words carved into the stone, "World End."

When you leave Hillsborough and go into Wadsley you are going from one world and into another world. They had their own council and their own policeman etc. That is how it was with the ancient people, and Israel was their world with their own priests and law makers etc. It did not belong to anyone else. It was their word that had been flooded and nobody else. If it had been Babylon or somewhere else, I doubt if it would even have even got a mention, they only recorded their own history.
.

Well, scripture says it was the world, so that's what it was. If another culture collaborates it or not is irrelevant. It's just likely we haven't found the appropriate documentation/artifacts yet. Eventually, science/history will likely catch up.

And no, sorry. I haven't heard of your football team.

From the Bible:-
In Exodus 10:5 a plague of Locusts "covered the face of the whole earth."
Quite clearly the locusts did not cover the whole globe, they only covered the land of Egypt and then probably not all of it.

In Numbers 22:5,11 we read that after the Israelites were delivered from Egypt and settled in Canaan they "Covered the face of the earth."
This is simply their way of saying they occupied the land in which they were dwelling.

When Cain went to the Land of Nod the Bible says "Behold thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth." (Gen 4:14) The earth for him was the place where he lived.

When the devil tempted Jesus he took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. The kingdoms of the world were what they could see i.e. local. (Matthew 4:8)

The same idiom is used to describe the Israelite conquest of Canaan,
Deut 2:25 This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you on the peoples who are under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of you and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you.

Incas and Inuit weren't trembling in anguish, it was the people in the region, Canaanites Moabites and Edomites.

When the Bible talks about the whole land or the face of the earth, it means the land or the earth of Israel and not the whole globe. Noah did not go collecting animals from all seven continents, they would have been local to him.

Catch up to what? there were numerous cultures around the world when the supposed world wide flood happened...and none of them noticed.

This was a flood where scripture states in Psalms 104 that it covered the whole earth and the Lord had to alter the height of the mountains and valleys to cause the floodwaters to recede to the boundaries He set for them. You can rest assured that any other explanation which doesn't include this aspect is inaccurate and/or incomplete.

71 , why is it inaccurate? My church doesn’t accept biblical inerrancy. Long before I realized that my church didn’t accept it I personally didn’t accept it. Even as a 10 year old I knew the Bible had phrases, sentences , paragraphs, and whole books, added , removed, bowdlerized and edited!

BTW the problem seems to be a lack of understanding of perspective

to illustrate: image
moon-earth-2.0.jpg

the camera is proportionally as far away as the epic satellite is.

but move the camera closer and.... image
moon-earth-1.0.jpg

the closer the camera gets to the mini baksetball or the moon the small the earth appears put the camera on the surface or the moon itself and.....

And the focal length of the lens.

I took this shot of the sun:

And this one:

At the same distance from the Sun. What was the difference? The focal length of the lens.

That same perspective problem is why some scientifically illiterate people think the earth is flat. The earth is so large compared to our size that it feel like it’s flat . The moon is quite big for a satellite around the earth but it’s very far away .

A flood like that would have ripped the earth to pieces and flattened every thing.
And a burning fiery furnace would have incinerated Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego.

A global flood like that 20 feet over the tallest mountain. Your water 4 miles deep. A flood like that would have ripped the earth to pieces and flattened every thing.
We have floods these days that cover most structures, foliage, and etc. if not mountaintops. And the waters remain for a long time before receding. The result is NOT to have everything that was covered be permanently flattened and barren.

Here is fact...one of the oldest human settlements is over 50 k years old...the flood would have wiped out. The pyramids already existed again the flood would have wiped them out. Its not a matter of gods existence which I believe its a matter of fact.
As I thought, you have been contending against a strictly literal reading of every word in the Bible in the way that some fundamentalists might do.

If we are talking about Noah's flood, which I think we were, it's not necessarily a "Global" flood, yet that is how you've framed your position.

evidence?

I already posted the Bible verses but here they are again as well as a link to read.

Genesis 1
6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.

Genesis 7:11
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and
the floodgates of the heavens were opened.

Psalm 18:11

11 He made darkness His secret place;
His canopy around Him was dark waters
And thick clouds of the skies.

2 Peter 3
5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.

"The waters above" were called mabbul, a specific Hebrew designation to distinguish the canopy from the waters below.

first a "canopy" 40 feet thick woudl produce less than 2 cm of rain.

I never said the canopy was 40 feet thick, I never mentioned its thickness at all.

Are you reading what I actually put, at all?

however that same 40 feet would cause the surface temperature of the earth to rise to an average of 200 degrees Fahrenheit. it would kill everything

You are the only one saying it was 40 feet thick.

All gas, including water vapor has a property called optical depth. it is a measure of how far or how much light can pass through it. the optical depth of 40 ft of water vapor would reduce by over 90% meaning the earth at high noon would be about as dim as a moonless night.

You are really stuck on this magical 40 feet arent you?

there have been 5 ice ages. what caused the other 4?

There has been one, and it was caused by the global flood.

then it would be exactly as thick as it is now....zero

Might want to look up next time it rains.

Another imaginary assumption? It seems it happened through the days of Peleg.

God raised the mountains and lowered the valleys that covered the earth. That's your reality. What you choose to do with it is your issue, but willful ignorance usually isn't the best way to go.
