Why is it important to be baptised in water?
Do you agree that 'water baptism is by immersion after repenting of one's sins and receiving Christ's gift of salvation?'It is a public confession of faith: essentially like putting the confirmation stamp on an existing faith, although it can also sanctify a new believer. To give them new-birth, which can be obtained either by Spirit or water immersion.
Water baptism into a church means that one is confessing their allegiance to that church, and that Church's doctrine.
A form of water baptism called 'christening' is performed on babies to cleanse them of their original sin. This is most commonly practiced in the Roman Catholic church.

It isn't important, it isn't necessary for conversion or salvation. But it is useful to the new believer in a symbolic way, in that they are emphasing their belief in Jesus as The Christ and the remission of their past sins, and the washing away of the consequences of those. The confirmation of their conversion is through their bearing/producing fruit of The Spirit. Why is it important to be baptised in water?

Did the Son of God need to be baptized by full submersion ?
But He set an example. He who had no sin, wow !
We are told in (Matthew 3:13-17) 'As soon as Jesus was baptised He came up out of the water'. He was obviously fully immersed. The word,'baptizo' means full immersion'In fact, we have no way of knowing--from either scripture or first century history--that he was baptized by submersion/immersion.
This does not mean that baptism by immersion is wrong or should be discontinued or anything like that, but when it comes to what happened to Jesus in the river that way, we do not have enough information to be able to say it was immersion.
