how to treat a "Christian" pedophile?

Pedophiles don’t realize the impact of their actions. They’re feeding a need within themselves but the carnage is deeply felt.

I knew someone in high school who was being molested by her step father. One night she told us and the screams tore through everyone present. I knew something was off. I used to do her mother’s hair and I noticed she and her brother were treated poorly. They were from a different marriage and he was very unkind.

When she said the words I knew she was telling the truth. My spirit groaned and we wept with her. It began at 3 and she turned within and created a world that was safe. We understood the lies and inconsistencies and the damage the decision to remain with the abuser had wrought to her children. She chose him in spite of the truth. That was her undoing.

We discovered the meaning of compassion that night and how you can’t judge a book by its cover. We found agape in the midst of her wails and tremors and wrapped our arms around her and gave her what she never had...

It should be treated like any other sin. They should be prayed for and forgiven if they truly repent. "Ranking" sins is a slippery slope.

They need to be executed for rape by the state. Having said that, if they've managed to get out of the crowbar motel they shouldn't be allowed near any children at church. Their repentance must be taken seriously but the church also has to take precautions.

In all honesty if you take the general position of the Bible on Church discipline and apply it to this modern problem......

The person has to seek treatment and have some other kinds of monitoring etc. or be excommunicated and shunned. Nothing else will do. (I'm assuming the person has a criminal predisposition and not just thinking and not acting on it)

If they are truly guilty, then God will judge them when they pass from this life. Until then, we have to protect God's children from these monsters.

I agree about forgiveness. We all should forgive. But, its very difficult when it comes to people who destroy childrens lives by their monstrous actions.

It's okay and I'm sorry too and for the record I wasn't questioning anybody's faith but many of you weren't acting very Christlike. I wasn't originally going to say anything but I felt like I was being forced to speak up for what some of you were saying.

I believe it's a spiritual issue and not a mental issue. If they act on it, of course they need to be locked away. The person needs to understand it's from the devil, and approach it like any other spiritual problem, keep going to Jesus for deliverance. What we can do is pray and trust in God's mercy. The person needs a genuine repentance and to fully give his/her life to Jesus, if that hasn't been done. We should also be clear the feelings themself are not the real problem, but acting out that desire brings forth death.
