Ok. So how does 5 boats in distress tell people to not support Trump?

Seriously?! How does, "I saw some boats sink" translate to I'm not voting for him?

I don't get it.

I would guess that rather than the parade being the thing that was watched or that people took part in, it paled into insignificance with the whole focus being on rescuing people and boats that capsized.

I would imagine people watching the parade from the shore or in the boats thinking that the participants were not well organized, or even sober.

Here is a stereotype in the opposite direction for your pleasure! Biden supporters love to come in WITH MASKS on to attack diners at establishments that are trying to survive during a pandemic....because that isn't stupid?! Screaming in their customer faces, breaking the furniture and chanting loudly...makes them look so intelligent? It hurts the economy more, but hey it shows true brain power at work.

What is truly stupid is people feeling that supporters of either candidate are monolithic, and arrogantly thinking its so.

So, some "Trump supporters" got together for some "fun in the Sun", got carried away, and...

accidentally unintentionally put their own lives, limbs & personal property in jeopardy. They themselves will bear the costs of their mistakes and any required cleanup. No other third parties were harmed or financially affected.

If that reflects poorly on the President, then who do Kenosha rioters, who intentionally inflicted damage & destruction of property on miscellaneous random other bystanders -- with such wanton "stoked & toked" frenzy furor that they even confronted & pursued fully armed (amateur) private security guards faster than their feet could carry them -- and who will make all those others pay for their own destructive deeds...

The boating fiasco wasn't Trump's fault, but it's a really good metaphor for the Trump administration.
