The Final Test is Coming! Who's AUTHORITY Are You Going to Place Yourself Under? God's Authority or Man's?

James 4:12
Isaiah 33:22

Please take careful note that we have 'one lawgiver' and that is 'the LORD'. He is the 'living God', the Father, who is 'judge of all' the earth, who has committed judgment unto His Son Jesus (Hebrews 12:22-23; Romans 2:16). And what is that one supreme law unto which the whole world is to place their allegiance to? Well, we have a warning in the Old Testament that is to be repeated in the end times for all mankind. Let's take a look.

Ecclesiastical 12:13-14
Revelation 14:6-12

Again ...."Fear God and give glory to Him ...Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the Commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."

Did you notice in ecclesiastes 12 that the 'keeping of the commandments of God' was not just for the Jews, but for MANKIND? Did you notice in Revelation 14 that the 'everlasting gospel', which includes the 'keeping of the Commandments of God' is not just for the Jews, but for EVERY NATION, KINDRED, TONGUE AND PEOPLE? This has been God's message since day one in this world, and it has never changed. It is these Commandments of God that Jesus said ..."till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or title shall pass from the law." (Matthew 5:18). Has heaven and earth passed away yet? Then what does that mean for God's Commandments, those great ten moral precepts for all mankind? It means not one jot or title has passed from them!

Both Ecclesiastes 12 and Revelation 14 warns the world to 'fear God'. But what does it mean to fear God?

Proverbs 8:13
Psalm 34:11-14

So living in the fear of God is not to literally be afraid of God, but to hate the things that God hates - SIN. And if we are to 'hate sin', then what are we to do? Love righteousness! So to 'fear God' is really to love righteousness. And Psalm 119:127 says that 'God's Commandments are righteousness '. So to fear God, as the end time warning in Revelation 14 says, is to place ourselves under the authority of our Creator, seeking His righteousness, the righteousness of His law and character, which will be fulfilled in us through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:3-4

The righteousness of the law CAN be fulfilled in us, in our lives, if we would submit ourselves to the authority of the Great Lawgiver and allow His Spirit to do that work in us, 'transforming us, by the renewing of our minds' (Romans 12:1-2). This can only be achieved through faith ...'I will put my spirit within you, and CAUSE YOU TO WALK in my statutes, and do them.' (Ezekiel 36:27)

But there is one particular 'seal' placed within the commandments of God that is a 'sign' between God and His people that they are placing themselves under His authority - the 7th day Sabbath.

Genesis 2:1-3
Exodus 20:8-11

Remember what message Revelation 14:6 has give to all the world? "Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." Is this not a call to the world to place themselves under the authority of our Creator, the one true God - THE FATHER (John 17:3, 1Corinthians 8:6) and to keep His 7th day Sabbath as a sign of our allegiance and LOVE towards Him? Do you not see that the 4th Commandment points back to creation and calls the 7th day of creation 'THE SABBATH DAY'?
The Sabbath is not only a sign of original creation which was complete salvation. God said:
Ezekiel 20:12.

Did you noticed that in Matthew 22:40 Jesus stated He came to fulfill the law and leave us with two commands, To love the Lord your God with all your heart mind and soul and secondly to love your neighbor as yourself. He said in these two commands all the law is fulfilled.

You never could live by the 613 laws and come out perfected, that wasn't their intent, never was. But to see that we need a savior. He is our perfection. And He is the source/strength of our love. Without Him there is no means. People come around all the time preaching the law, one foot in the old covenant , one foot in the new. When you receive Christ you are armed to do the two commands. Through Him we learn to love not beat everyone over the head with the law.

Faith Means Obedience to the Law
Before we proceed further, let us have a few definitions. “Sin is the transgression of the law,” 3 and “all unrighteousness is sin.” 4 Therefore it follows that all unrighteousness is transgression of the law, and just as evidently that all righteousness is obedience to the law. So when we read that Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness, we may know that his faith was accounted to him for obedience to the law. EVCO 295.3

This accounting of faith for righteousness was not an empty form to Abraham, nor is it to us. Remember that the accounting is done by God, who cannot lie, yet who calls things that are not as though they were, by the power by which He makes the dead live. Abraham actually possessed righteousness. Faith works. “This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent.” “With the heart man believeth unto righteousness.” 1 EVCO 296.1

This little digression will help us to bear in mind that in the chapter before us there is no disparagement of the law, but the righteousness, which is the fruit of faith, is always obedience to the law of God.

Well Abraham was a deceiver and liar in real life back in genesis but counted righteous because he believed God. He wasn't counted righteous because he followed every letter of the law ( that's works unto righteousness, never a good thing) He got the free gift of mercy through grace because he believed. This is a spiritual matter, where as works is flesh. Our old man ( flesh) dies to sin eventually even when the spirit is counted righteous.

Romans 4:1-25 ESV
What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, ...

Listen if we could fulfill our righteousness by the works of the law we simply wouldn't need Jesus Christ and he suffered and died in vein, for absolutely nothing. The fact of the matter is we can't fulfill the law but He already did.

I agree Abraham was counted as righteous because he believed in God and not because of his goodness. I also know that we cannot work at being good because the scriptures teach that we have all sinned so we could never do enough good. Abraham was counted as being righteous by God and righteous men are obedient to the law. God says "cursed is the man who continue NOT in all things that is written in the law".

We are changed. Paul went all through this in Galatia where the folks there were being beguiled back to one foot in the old ways of the un-torn veil. Religion/works unto salvation is treacherous, I can't argue with Paul:
Galatians 2:19 says the same thing: “For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God.” We are dead to the Law so that we can live for God. Otherwise, if we were still alive in regards to the Law — we would stand condemned before God and be under a death sentence.

I believe the confusion lies is that because Paul says we are dead to the law, some take it as throw the whole thing away. Some may take it as we do not need to follow it. Think of it this way, many people in the old testament where destroyed for disobedience to his law. Now on this side of the cross some believe that God had a change of heart and would not punish us for those same iniquities. That would not be fair on the Lord's part if he did that and we know he is a faithful and true Judge. Those who live by faith and choose to follow the laws of God do so because they love him. He does say if you love me then keep my commandments.

True! That is the essence of NT truth! The Israelite religion was valid until their Messiah came, who they rejected and killed. The OT, beside history and the beginning with the covenant for Israel, was a forecasting of hope for the whole world, which came in the Lord Jesus Christ (note John 3; John 14; etc.
