I'm glad for that. Even if I was old enough to get it, I wouldn't take it. The government should not be giving money to the citizens
SS is funded by the people. They pay in and when their old enough they get paid out.
It will never end in mine or your lifetime.
They have been talking that for umpteen years.

Welfare is also funded by the citizens.
It is not the job of the government to give money to the people or redistribute wealth.

The only resources you can be certain of are the ones in your name. They belong to you. Assets in the government’s hand aren’t under your control. You have no jurisdiction over its management. You’re dependent upon the government to exercise wise stewardship.

Unlike others who place their resources with money managers, you can’t draw it down in one lump or select a different steward. You’re stuck with him.

No one can predict what that means in the future. But a prudent person would overlook the rhetoric and consider its handling of financial issues for those dependent upon resources. The pandemic relief provided enough information for wise believers to glean from.

August has come and gone. The news is dominated by politics and uprisings. Few are discussing the plight of the recipients whose stimulus benefits expired. Whether you’ll see a bill this month remain’s to be seen.

Lawmakers aren’t dependent on government benefits for sustenance. Social security, Medicare, etc. They have the means to meet their needs. While they represent the people; they aren’t subject to the government’s support in the same measure.

Trust given without discernment is unwise.

Yours in His Service,

~Bella

The governments of democracies are made up of representatives of the people, selected by the people, for the people... doesn't your opinion here seem to contradict this!

Um, no.
By the way, we are not a democracy. We are a republic.

We pay taxes to cover the costs of running our society, and we've deemed it prudent that some of those taxes ought be put aside for us to draw on if we happen to fall on hard times... so isn't that the kind of pragmatism that God would expect of His children.

Don't we have silos and warehouses where we store up reserves that we can drawn on, if all of a sudden we aren't able to produce enough sustenance for our current needs? Isn't that a similar principle?

It is not the job of the government to give money to the citizens, or redistribute wealth to them. The people support the government, the government should not be supporting the people. Grover Cleveland said something to that effect after he vetoed a bill which would have given a sum of money to help farmers in I think Texas, whose crops had been destroyed.

It's the job of the government to do what we tell them to do. I can see that we will never agree, so it's best we leave this discussion at that. Shalom :)

Is the government doing what we tell them? Do you really think they are? Most politicians are just in it for the power and money. They like to make laws they have no intention of following themselves.
Having the government give money to the people is opening the door wide open to socialism, which is exactly what is happening to America.
But we can leave this here if you want.
