Yes we may truly mourn an Atheist heart for unbelief killed faith in true love growing within them. My life became meaningless when i embraced their ideas once, i'm never going to do that again, what a misery did that bring intro my life believing that? Unbelievable!

Unbelief.
Your voice turned me utterly insane,
believing your suggestions
thinking there is no God.
For you betrayed my Good Life,
pushing me into that bottomless pit,
into fiery Hell for years on end.

Flying right through my reality,
your miserable voice dividing
myself against myself,
your taunts attacking faithful self,
hopelessness cutting me up,
your lies barring access to true Life!

No faith feeding my starving soul,
instead doubt, confusion and terror,
false evidence locking my hopes away,
devoid from true self or any good thing,
torturing me in those dark dungeons,
you only ever set out to murder me!

Atheism steals your comfortable ignorance. It in no way steals the key to the understanding of life.
If you can show that there is a God, and that God is the key to understanding life, great.
Until then all you have is an argument from ignorance. A pablum for those who can't swallow the truth.

Well, I mean - Jesus is God and I can point you to Him. He quite literally walked among us. The only difference is that we believe that He is who He says He is, namely God in flesh and our Saviour.

Atheism doesn't claim there is no God.

Atheism is a response of "I don't believe you" to the claim some God or gods exist.

That's it.

Of course it's "unable to answer all 'why's?' of life or to forge character." Its a single response to a single question.

It also says nothing about purpose, and has no bearing on the bleakness of one's outlook on life or someone's attitude to the end of life.

Jeshu, great to hear you found Christ.

Personally, I never denied there was a God, but i certainly didn't feared him and done my own thing with a 'que sera sera' attitude to life. I'm reflecting on this as i type and it makes me think, i was an Atheist also, i only thought i knew God. He was in my head for a few seconds for over a decade, but i never lived for him until Christ came knocking/banging to be exact.

I didn't listen to the sermon you linked, but I have found in my own life that atheism has been unhelpful.

On the other hand, I have struggled with depression all my life. I wonder if a person with a healthier psyche might find some beauty in atheism. At times I have felt that there is freedom in meaningless existence. We can do anything we want. We can make mistakes and there is no lasting harm, because everything is washed clean by the temporary meaninglessness and forgotten.

I tend to think a psychologically healthy person can be happy as either a theist or an atheist, and a psychologically unhealthy person can be unhappy as either.

I never found "Because God." to be an acceptable answer to anything.

You know what's bleak? A god who creates a place of eternal torment for the "crime' of not believing.
You know what's purposeless? An eternal life.
You know what's useless in sickness and death? Prayer.

Every Atheist I've met has been just as alive and vibrant with life as is any believer of God that I've met. Often times even more so. I say that as a Lover of God.

And at the same time, I know plenty of non-Christians who are the same way. I'm also willing to bet that not every single Christian is happy and motivated 100% of the time. Therefore, I conclude the OP describes a gross misrepresentation; a lie, if you will. And lying is a sin.

have they got an inner conviction that their soul is well in eternity? that life on earth is like the steam coming out of a kettle/teapot? that Christ has more for you than earthly pleasures?

I find that it actually makes you think about your life and what purpose you want your life to have. Since all I have after I die is how I will be remembered and who I helped along the way. It makes my life meaningful because it is all I have.

Some do but most just don't believe God exists.

These are unsubstantiated and actually the soul has pretty much been shown to not exist.

So does religion. Why does God exist? Why did God create the universe? Why does the bible contradict scientific findings?

Also, answers that cannot be supported by good evidence are not answers that can be believed.

Life forges character along with your own work to change the things you don;t like about your character. Honest self introspection helps a lot.

It is bleak,

I don't find it that way. I find it liberating and an honest way to live life.

purposeless,

I create my own purpose which is actual freedom.

and useless in sickness and death

How can a lack of belief be used in any way?
