I feel fear in so many situations. I worry, I get scared. My current worry is losing family. Being left on my own.

But when all is said and done, it comes down to one thing. I need to keep my eyes on our Lord Jesus Christ. Whatever goes on in the world, and my response to things - I need to remain in Christ.

So I write this as much to myself as anyone. But I hope it may resonate with someone out there. I hope this can help: I have to always go to the Word:

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 6:19‭-‬20 ESV

We have to be rooted in Christ.‬‬‬‬
When we worry. We are told in the Word:

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6‭-‬7 ESV‬‬

When we worry. We need to pray. That needs to be our response. To pray. To not dwell on our worries. Our focus needs to turn to Christ. It has to. And then Christ has said it.‬

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."
John 16:33 ESV

We receive His peace.

The world will rage around. In Christ there's peace. There is trouble in the world. But Jesus has overcome the world. In Him we are truly alive. We are to abide in Christ.

Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:3‭-‬5 ESV

The word of God is the truth:

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
"But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Matthew 24:35‭-‬36‭, ‬42‭, ‬44 ESV

We don't know the hour but our only hope is in Christ. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬To trust, have faith. Keep our mind on the truth. It is through faith. ‬‬‬‬

Man thinks the power of the earth is in his own hands – it is all in God’s hands.
Job 38 tells us this:

"Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Job 38:4‭-‬7 ESV
‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule on the earth? "Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that a flood of waters may cover you? Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, 'Here we are'? Who has put wisdom in the inward parts or given understanding to the mind?
Job 38:33‭-‬36 ESV
‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

How is man to know the complexity of all the earth? Man tries to work it out but it cannot be fathomed – only God knows. Man isn’t in control. Man’s solutions won’t work.
But, Christ is the solid rock. We are to put
our faith - our complete trust in Christ.

and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:4 ESV

None of this is easy. But Jesus is the only way.

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him."
John 14:6‭-‬7 ESV
‬‬‬

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:27 ESV

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

The message of the "churches" so often was, that we were not going to have as it is called here "tribulation". As if my own parents and grandparents didn't have rather a lot of that. As if in many countries near here, everyone hasn't had it all their lives. Thank you - this was the message all along.

Thank you this has blessed me. We always need to be reminded of these things. Let us be reminded of Peter walking on water towards Christ:

Matthew 14:25-31
[25]And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
[26]And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
[27]But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
[28]And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
[29]And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
[30]But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
[31]And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Peter took his eyes off of Christ and became afraid. May we always look upon Jesus to save us no matter the storms life brings. Thank you again, be blessed.

We receive His peace.
"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

So, yes God gives us peace, but we need to obey how this peace rules us . . . all the time.

And do not trust what fear and worry would have us think and do.

Worry is a pathological liar and abuser . . . possibly more than any human has ever lied to us or abused us; yet, we can keep on trusting and even obeying worry.

So, for me, it seems to help if when negative and nasty stuff is going on in my mind and emotions, do not trust what it would have me think, do not submit to how it would have me react and commit myself to relating with someone who is a problem for me; but trust God to correct me so I am submitting to Him in His peace, instead. Then discover how His peace has me seeing things and people. And this is with the help of our sharing with one another in Jesus. And discover what God has me doing in sharing with Him, how His peace makes me creative for loving any person.

That is true what you say. Thanks for pointing that out. That's helpful. We are to submit to God. I think I have probably trusted the worrying thoughts at times. But yes It's trusting and obeying God in His peace. I like how you've explained that. Thanks. I'll be pondering on that more.

Great verses. Thanks for sharing. The topic of your thread reminds me of something I heard a pastor say about fear. He said, "Fear sells." If someone or something can get you to buy into your fears they can basically steer you as you strive to avoid whatever you fear most, which is usually some kind of fear of loss.
He gave examples of political figures promising to help you avoid your fears of losing ___ or ____if only you donate to their political party. Praise the Lord for his Word grounding us when fears rise up.

Hi. Thanks for your post. Good to hear from you. That is true what you say about "fear sells". You can pretty much see that everywhere. And true - that getting you to buy into these fears will make you want to try to avoid it, like you say political figures saying "I can sort it out" if you donate etc. And they never have been able to sort it out yet! But indeed praise the Lord for His solid Word. Thanks for highlighting this. Really helpful to see this context. Hope you take care.

Yes that is true. To always pray. It reminds me of the verses in Philippians again:

Stoicism helps.
I'm sorry if my previous reply seemed a little blunt. When I said:
I just keep my eyes on Jesus Christ, the true Logos.
I do appreciate your comment and contribution though. I guess I just get very focused on Jesus as everything to me.
But thanks for your post though.
