I don`t stretch today, so perhaps that might work a little also

Perhaps it is a combination of anaerobic and aerobic...along of course with diet. I'm not sure that limiting diet is beneficial but rather the right type of foods to enable the use of burning energy. Anaerobic is shown to reduce fat and convert/build muscle...it would seem to me that a combination is best.

I tend not to worry about the excess fat so much as fitness and general health. I have underlying health conditions so that is more important to me. I do work out as often as I can though and have done for years.

First of all, you will not lose fat by dieting if you dont exercise with it as well. Its also worth remembering that bigger muscles burn more calories and more fat, so some strength training is definitely worth it as well as aerobic. When I first joined a gym it was on a special offer, 3 years membership for a one off price lower than the normal one year price. It worked as it took me 2 1/2 years to get into it and start going regularly. The thing that did it for me and I often recommend is this. Rather than try to vary the exercises you do, find your favourite aerobic exercise and always start off with that. Whenever I say that to people there is always one they say, they all had one stand out as their favourite. For me it was running on the treadmill, others say cross trainers, exercise bikes and one person said rowing machine. So my advise is always start with that. Get in "the zone" doing your favourite and once you are warmed up go on to other exercises and thats where you can start to add variety. Quite a few of my friends have got into exercising more regularly after following this advice.

Theres alot of great ab workouts on youtube. I aim to do them 6 days a week because the abs can take more of a beating then other muscles can. And sometimes i do 15 minute videos, sometimes only 5 minutes

Mix in some cardio and you'll results for sure

I would try looking into intermittent fasting online. Its not a diet really, but more of an eating schedule adjustment. I generally do 16 hrs of fasting and 8 hrs where I am free to eat. Along with regular workouts, you will find it very difficult to eat a lot of calories in a day. Its difficult to adjust to at first but I found that my body has adjusted to it a few weeks after starting it. I also found that I had more energy when fasted than when I was eating, which blew my mind! I have been using it for over 2 years and its has helped me reduce body weight while still maintaining muscle mass :sohappy:. If you haven't checked it out, I would say its worth a shot

Don't forget, muscle weights more than fat. So you could be loosing fat, and gaining muscle. Another possibility is timing of protein. Muscles need protein to be built, so a serving of protein, a spoonful of peanut butter or handful of nuts before working out and a low fat Greek yogurt afterward (watch sugar) will build muscle without adding fat.

Watch carrots, though a good vegetable the modern carrot ha far more sugar than our grandparent's, eat more salads instead. Make homemade dressings as store bought tend to be high in corn syrup (salad needs some fat to absorb the vitamins). If fact watch for hidden sugars, these are a major culprit in weight gain today.

Work out how much food you require to maintain your present weight each day. Then cut back carbs, up protein a little. Keep fats in diet at least 15% no less and eat at least 4 meals each day. Stick to non processed foods. You want to target around 1 pound of bodyweight each week.
