The Missouri couple seen in a viral video brandishing guns at protesters outside their mansion have been charged, the St. Louis circuit attorney said.

Patricia and Mark McCloskey are charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a class E felony, according to the complaint.

"It is illegal to wave weapons in a threatening manner at those participating in nonviolent protest, and while we are fortunate this situation did not escalate into deadly force, this type of conduct is unacceptable in St. Louis," Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner said in a statement.

Report: Patricia McCloskey's handgun inoperable when seized by police

Legal Docs: Prosecutor Tampered With Evidence In McCloskey Gun Case

It turns out that the wife's pistol was inoperable due to having been improperly assembled, and so the prosecutor's office ordered the ballistics team to re-assemble it to take the ballistics sample.

Not only does this potentially equate to evidence tampering under state law, the fact that the gun could not be fired means that the charges leveled against her are no longer valid as stated. As such, the state attorney general has officially requested that the charges be dropped.

When my pistol is improperly assembled, it also has the effect of rendering my AR-15 inoperable. I need to find some better guns.

If these wonderful good patriotic true citizens can’t reassemble a pistol correctly, perhaps we should look at having some sort of basic qualification before we let good people have possession of dangerous weapons.

Yeah, I don't know about that. The MO Supreme Court seems to think otherwise:

IIRC, the state AG was already against the charges, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that he'd want them dropped.

Based on the way they were waving those weapons around, I'm surprised they knew how to disassemble them in the first place.

Patricia and Mark McCloskey, the St. Louis homeowners who pointed guns at protestersearlier this summer, are scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention next week, an aide familiar told CNN on Monday.

A spokesman for Trump Victory and a Republican official confirmed to CNN later Monday that former Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann, Andrew Pollack, the father of Parkland shooting victim Meadow Pollack, anti-abortion activist Abby Johnson, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and Pennsylvania congressional candidate Sean Parnell will also be among the speakers at the Republican convention. The lineup, which is still being formed, was first reported by Breitbart News.

#1 It is not the first time they have used guns to intimidate people
#2 They have an expansive view of what 'their property' is
Nothing to see here, you have nothing... just admit it. Your title is embarrassingly untrue.

If their story is truthful, they will probably beat this rap.

What I find odd is that I have only seem one video of this exchange. Only one protestor was filming, and no home in the area had cameras?

That's huge in this day and age.

Not only that, but the camera only shows the 2 homeowners and not the rioters who had trespassed onto their property. Makes for a one-sided narrative. I'm glad they'll have a chance to speak at the Republican convention. It's about the only way their voices will be heard.

You have random neighbors running around your property with cameras? Glad I don't live in town.

A neighborhood with high-end homes commonly have cameras mounted outside to record suspicious activity or any acts of crime that happen there. That's what security cameras do.

How can the neighbors camera be scanning thier property? Wouldn't that be an invasion of privacy? At any rate, I saw the video of a crowd of protesters right next to thier house, so I'm puzzled by what people mean about no footage.

I've had a neighbor that lives in a house located just 5 feet away from mine put up a camera that pointed over my fence into my backyard. I discovered that it does not violate any laws even though I felt it invaded my privacy.

Like I said, glad I don't live in town. I sometimes take the occasional shower in the back yard. I might be arrested...

Having privacy, even in the great outdoors is priceless!

Who said there was no footage? I think you read something to fast.

I know there has been footage of people with those ring doorbells? They caught people out front of their houses - and those of neighbors on camera. Some of it was nothing - like petting a neighbor dog. Another one was taping a kidnapping that was happening in the front of the house.
