• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Perhaps if you watch The Passion of Christ; and let it sink in what Yahshua has done for us, and how wicked are the hearts of men.

The Passion of the Christ - Wikipedia

I watched this in a theater when it was first released. No one in the theater said a word; as we all left the theater.

It's graphic. Don't watch it unless you are emotionally prepared; but it begins to express how deep his love is for us. I can't go numb to such love.

Exactly what Ann said. Checking our emotions is a very common compulsion. OCD tries to convince us that the lack of emotion means that our obsessive fear (e.g. that we've lost our salvation) must be true. But that's not the case at all. Our job is to keep moving forward and choosing to follow God, no matter how we feel. We can still choose to follow Him with our actions, even if OCD is telling us (deceitfully) that our lack of feelings must mean we're not His. Our feelings do not always indicate truth - ESPECIALLY when we have OCD - and we have to learn to ignore the lies of OCD and just keep moving forward with our lives. Eventually, the OCD weakens its grasp, but it takes a lot of persistence and perseverance on our part first, as we choose to ignore it and to live our lives despite the strong negative feelings it sends us.

Can OCD make you feel like you don’t want to follow Jesus at all?

It basically can make you feel anything. Often it plays off your worst fear, making you feel things like: "I really don't want to follow Jesus" (losing salvation obsession), "I really don't love that person" (relationship obsession), "Maybe I really am a homosexual," (HOCD), "Maybe I really do want to do something terrible" (violence/sexual OCD), among others. It's a sneaky beast, that OCD!
