Nursing homes are places that the infirm elderly are taken to die with dignity and care. Life expectancy is only 2.1 years after admission. Many succumb to respiratory failure. Many nursing homes report that 1/3 of residents die in any given year.

And meanwhile the critical illness or death rate for COVID-19 OUTSIDE of nursing homes has been overinflated. People shot and killed or died in car wrecks have been listed as COVID-19 hospitalizations and/or deaths.
Another good example is every year, since I was 17, I have been hearing at least once a year during the summer about an infection from a brain-eating amoeba that thrives in warm, unchlorinated or inadequately chlorinated, freshwater. This year, last month, someone in Florida got infected with the brain eating amoeba from swimming in a lake. Since almost everyone infected with this brain eating amoeba dies within 14 days from infection, I'm assuming that this Florida case this year has died. It's just that doctors have, maybe intentionally with a political motivation, listed that death as caused by COVID-19 instead.

It's all part of cultivating hysteria. That said record keeping is the bane of the doctor's workday, so maybe they just get careless...or fed up.

Given that the CDC has stated publicly that the real rate of infection could be 10X that of the reported number, asymptomatic employees who work in these facilities could be passing under the radar!

Everything goes back to testing - if the CDC hadn't lost a month of valuable time in rolling out its COVID-19 tests and if the Trump had made testing its Number 1 priority, America would be in far better position to identify and isolate those infected!

There is a reason why Canada had 4 COVID-19 deaths last Friday while America had over 1200, and it wasn't because Canada has more tools in its pandemic toolbox than the US!

Our biggest problem is apathy about, resistance to, or ignorance of, protective measures. Not surprising though for people that can't find their own state on the map.

So NYC was just speeding up the process?

This President and many Republican governors are still in a state of denial and won't even model or mandate the use of masks, leaving average Americans to face the worst of both worlds - lack of leadership and government ineptitude!

With 5.1 million having tested positive and over 165,000 deaths, Americans have already paid a heavy price as they are left to look at the rapidly declining numbers in the European Union and Canada - asking themselves as to why their current response just isn't working!

With less than 5% of the world's population, Americans are being subjected to over 20% of those testing positive and dying from COVID-19 with no apparent end in sight - something one would associate with 3rd world countries and "failed states," not the world's premier superpower!

Maybe they should wear masks, keep their distance. :D
