From the article.

The repercussions of this massacre of our nation’s history are real and significant

This has been the year of “cancel culture,” with celebrities, politicians, and anyone who’s ever held an opinion that is mildly divergent from the politically correct left coming under attack.

Amidst all the public apologies, disavowals, and firings that this political correctness crusade has wrought, the biggest victim of all has been American history. And now the assault is poised to get worse.

A concerted effort to revise history to fit the modern social justice narrative and insert works of fiction in our education system — from kindergarten through higher education — is well underway.

The 1619 Project, which describes itself as “an ongoing initiative of The New York Times Magazine,” is the clearest evidence that this indoctrination has become institutionalized in the American education system — but certainly not the only evidence.

All history is bloody and all victors lie about their countries parts in atrocities: so get over it. We need to challenge the present incumbents of power and their atrocities, the poverty caused by wars that are not needed; the fear stoked that we need not fear; the sending of our young men to die for their greed. If we are to be Christians we should stop voting for the rich who are self-funding at our expense: join in the struggle for the poor, the homeless, the hungry, those deprived of education: forget the statues topple the bankers, the CEOs the Senators, the president. and challenge the future ones: keep them to account. Unite in a peoples union. Individuality and individual rights do not exist outside a parallel solidarity with your brothers and sisters; black, brown, yellow, white or whatever; Join a political party to change it or form your own or join a trade union or form one fight back take back history it is yours.

uhmmm...this isn't news, this is an op/ed. There's a difference. One is someone's opinion about something and one is reporting about facts. As such, this would rightfully be better in the "politics" forum instead of "news". See the difference?
tulc(just thought he'd point that out)

Ah shut up you. It qualifies as news as it is often found in the news commenting on news. ;)

Oh hey, look, another butthurt white guy using charges of historical revisionism to complain about challenges to the historical revisionism pushed by the Daughters of the Confederacy and other Lost Cause sympathizers.

The magazine goes on to state: “Out of slavery — and the anti-black racism it required — grew nearly everything that has truly made America exceptional: its economic might, its industrial power, its electoral system, its diet and popular music, the inequities of its public health and education, its astonishing penchant for violence, its income inequality, the example it sets for the world as a land of freedom and equality, its slang, its legal system and the endemic racial fears and hatreds that continue to plague it to this day. The seeds of all that were planted long before our official birth date, in 1776, when the men known as our founders formally declared independence from Britain.”

All of that is true.

The history courses that are taught often seek to indoctrinate students with the idea that America’s lasting legacy is one of genocide and oppression, not freedom and liberty for all.

That's because America hasn't sought to extend freedom and liberty to all; it's preached those values while actively seeking to deny them to certain groups. If anybody's been indoctrinated with a bogus history, it's this guy and folks like him.

Oh look at that, the guy is a 2015 graduate of Liberty. Shocker.
