A simple Google.com search would reveal this to you by typing the key words “EXB Translation” into Google, and then hitting enter.

If you were to do so, the search results will tell you that it is the Expanded Bible.

John 5:24 EXB at Biblegateway states:

“I tell you the truth [Truly, truly I say to you], whoever hears [obeys] what I say [my word/message] and believes in the One who sent me has eternal life. That person will not be judged guilty [come into judgment/condemnation] but has already left death and entered life [ passed from death into life].” (John 5:24) (EXB) (Expanded Bible).

Arrogance is not becoming of a Christian! I asked a simple question, a polite answer would have sufficed. Back in my parent's day, we had the Amplified Bible, and it was a similar concept.

While I believe the King James is the divinely inspired perfect Word of God, I do quote from Modern Translations (on occasion) if it happens to line up with the KJV. The King James is my final word of authority. Modern Translations are not always correct in what they say. But I do quote from them at times so as to clarify what the KJV says.

If something is perfect, it doesn't need clarification! The King James is quite imperfect, that's why it needs clarification, and why other translations appeared.

Simply read these verses in Scripture and believe them. Nowhere does the Bible teach that the soul is inherently immortal.

No where does it say it ceases to exist either, and it describes the souls of men as continuing to exist and fiction in the afterlife and eternity. God is not the God of the dead, but of the living! There is never any suggestion, let alone explicit expression that any human soul ever ceases to exist!

Not true. Here are...

Verses on the Destruction of the Wicked:
(Note: The quotes from certain Modern Translations below say the same thing as the KJV):
(Note 2: Please understand that I do believe that the following verses below can in many cases refer to physical death; But I believe that they can have a more complete meaning in that it also applies to eternal death or eventual annihilation in the Lake of Fire, too; For double meanings in Scripture is not uncommon. For Messianic prophecies prove that Scripture can have two meanings):

"Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power." (2 Thessalonians 1:9).

Whose end is destruction,...” (Philippians 3:19).

“and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a proclaimer of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly.” (2 Peter 2:5-6 NHEB).

“And repays them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hates him, he will repay him to his face.” (Deuteronomy 7:10).

“Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.” (Job 4:8-9).

“For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” (Psalms 1:6).

“When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.” (Ezekiel 3:18-20).

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4).

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3).

“Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1:32).

“But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;” (2 Peter 2:12).

“What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.” ‭‭(Romans 6:21).

“For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Malachi 4:1-3).

“When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:” (Psalms 92:7).

"....as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God." (Psalms 68:2).

There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy:” (James 4:12).

"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8).

“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28).

Note on Matt 10:28: Hell is thrown into the Lake of Fire (whereby hell or its inhabitants will be destroyed) (See: Revelation 20:14).

Note on Revelation 21:8: The Lake of Fire is called the “second death.” This can only make sense to call it the “second death” if it is related to the “first death” (i.e. physical death - whereby the flesh and blood body perishes and or is destroyed).

Verses on the Destruction of the Devil & Death:

The Final Fate of the Wicked Also Includes the Annihilation or:

A. Destruction of the Devil:

• Isaiah 14:12, Isaiah 14:19

12 “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”
19 “....thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.”

• Ezekiel 28:12-18

12 “...Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 “Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.”

B. Destruction of the Entity or Power Known As "Death":

• 1 Corinthians 15:26

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death
Hopefully, these lists should be enough.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE UNREPENTANT WICKED AFTER THE 2ND COMING?

Rev 14:9A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”

Rev 20:7When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Mark 9:42“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea. 43If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. [44] where“ ‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 45And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. [46] where“ ‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 47And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48where“ ‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 49Everyone will be salted with fire.

Those who are sent to the lake of fire are tormented forever and ever (that means without end). If the smoke of their torment (those human beings that take the mark of the beast) rises forever and ever, then the torment which produces the smoke must also continue for ever and ever, and if the torment lasts for ever and ever, then those being tormented must be there for ever and ever! The counterpart of everlasting life is everlasting death, separation from God and all hope and all goodness. This is the eternal lot of those whose names are not written in the book of life!

Well, I do not want to derail this thread topic. If you want to check my previously well thought out explanations that is backed up by Scripture, you can do so in this Christian Forums thread here:

No, that is NOT what the Gospel says.
The True Gospel says that ALL MEN are born spiritually DEAD
and destined to Hell because NO MAN will ever seek God...
no, not even one [Rom 3:10-12]

Wow. Talk about ripping a verse from its context and attempting to force it into saying something OTHER than what the context is conveying. From your white space theology of eisegesis, Abraham wasn't righteous because of his faith.

In that same contextual writing, it is also said:

Rom 3:22 KJV - Even the righteousness of God [which is] by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Every man has the capacity to believe, for Jesus died for all. That verse didn't even hint at the idea that the Lord had to give them faith for us to exercise it. You are having to ADD that idea into the context to try and make your distorted theology fit the context.

Rom 3:19 KJV - Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Rom 3:20 KJV - Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.

The letter kills. That's why we live by the Law the Law Giver writes in our hearts.

If Jesus died only for the elect, then scripture lies in places like where it says that he died:

For all (1 Tim. 2:6; Isa. 53:6).
For every man (Heb. 2:9).
For the world (John 3:16).
For the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2).
For the ungodly (Rom. 5:6).
For false teachers (2 Peter 2:1).
For many (Matt. 20:28).
For Israel (John 11:50–51).
For the Church (Eph. 5:25).
For "me" (Gal. 2:20).

That whole chapter of Romans is talking about the Law as the central, contextual theme throughout. You should start reading your little "proof tests" in their proper context before trying to use them as a brush of a different color.

It's interesting how the focus of a passage and its context is sometimes diverted into some other focus to fit a preconceived agenda. For example, Ephesians 2:8–9 says, "For by grace
are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any
man should boast."

Many reformed theology thinkers wrongfully conclude that the pronoun "it" refers to
"faith" rather than "saved." The subject of that context is salvation, not faith. What Paul is really teaching is that SALVATION is the gift of God. I've seen where the IFCA Doctrinal Statement is accurate and clear: "We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ." Salvation is the gift; faith is the "hand of the heart" that reaches out and receives the gift which God offers. The fact that SALVATION (ETERNAL LIFE, RIGHTEOUSNESS) is the gift of God is taught repeatedly throughout the New Testament (see John 4:10; Rom. 5:15,16,17; 6:23).

In the New Testament the word "GIFT" never refers to saving faith, though we certainly recognize that apart from God’s mercy and gracious enabling and enlightenment, saving faith could not be exercised. (For reference, please see John 6:44,65; Matt. 11:27; 16:16–17; Acts 16:14; etc.)

The teaching that faith is the gift of God has some very practical implications and it will affect the way a person understands the gospel and how a person presents the gospel. If faith is the gift of God, then how do I get this gift? What must I do? WHAT MUST I DO TO BELIEVE? To say faith is an imparted gift on the basis of God's sovereignty is to deny that God can also create man with the capacity for faith.

For those who would say faith is a gift, do I do nothing and hope that God will sovereignly bestow it upon me? Do I do nothing and hope that I am one of God’s elect?

Do I cry out to God and pray that He will give me the gift of saving faith? John MacArthur holds to this option. He teaches that faith is the gift of God and he recommends that the sinner pray to God in order to obtain it: Faith is a gift from God . . . it is permanent . . . the faith that God gives begets obedience . . . God gave it to you and He sustains it . . . May God grant you a true saving faith, a permanent gift that begins in humility and brokenness over sin and ends up in obedience unto righteousness. That’s true faith and it’s a gift that only God can give, and if you desire it, pray and ask that He would grant it to you." [Transcribed from John MacArthur's tape GC 90-21 dealing with Lordship Salvation].

Please take note of what MacArthur is doing. He is telling the sinner not to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31) but to pray and ask God to grant the gift of faith. This perverts the gospel of Christ by making the condition of salvation prayer instead of faith. Sinners are commanded to believe on Christ. They are not commanded to pray for the gift of faith.
