For me the scriptures teach we can have the hope of eternal life today through faith but it is only those who endure temtation to the end and continue in the faith that reveive eternal life.
Hebrews 12:4-14 to me guarantees how God corrects His children so we are "partakers of His holiness" in His love's "peaceable fruit of righteousness". And if we do not have this correction >

"you are illegitimate and not sons."

So, from this I see how God's word guarantees a child of God, that God will succeed in correcting the person who has trusted in Jesus > Ephesians 1:12. We have trusted Him to succeed, and He does.

I believe the key words here are for those "in Christ" who are defined in the scriptures as all those who believe and follow God's Word *John 10:26-27

For these we also have Gods promise...

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

I answered this earlier but lets look at the scriptures in detail. The 10 commandments are the spoken Word of God written with the finger of God on tables of Stone to be written on the heart to love in the new covenant *Hebrews 8:10-12

Yep - God's Word is forever. Therefore if God's 10 commandments are the "spoken Word of God", it is God's Word not mine that says that God's 10 commandments are forever not me.

We have a choice dear friend. We can read the 10 commandments from the tables of stone the show us give us the knowledge of what sin is *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 or we can receive the Gospel and God's free gift of grace through the cross and receive forgiveness and newness of life to be free to walk in God's spirit and receive a new heart to love through grace. *Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 8:1-4; Galatians 5:16. Unless we are born again with a new heart to love and God's law is written in our heart we cannot see the kingdom of heaven according to Jesus *John 3:3-7. Those who are born again to love and have received Gods new covenant promise of his law being written on the heart through faith *Hebrews 8:10-12; Romans 13:8-10; Romans 3:31 do not practice sin (breaking God's law) *1 John 3:6-9. According to the scriptures those who claim they know God and knowingly practice sin are lying and the truth is not in them *1 John 2:3-4. Sin, which is defined in the scriptures as breaking anyone of God's 10 commandments and not believing God's Word *James 2:10-11; 1 John 3:4; Romans 14:23 according to the scriptures is the difference between the children of God and the children of the devil *1 John 3:6-10; Revelation 12:17; Revelation 14:12; Revelation 22:14.

The scriptures show that Gods 10 commandments are the work of God alone and the writing of God with God's own finger *Exodus 32:16; Exodus 31:18 and anything God does it is eternal and forever *Ecclesiastes 3:14 - Therefore the scriptures teach that God's 10 commandments are eternal and forever.

I hope you are not eating pork! Nor fish without scales! Teh whole Old TEstament is pretty much the spoken Word of Gd as well as teh New. You need to show that the tencommandments specifically and uniquely are the eternal commandments. This you have failed to do!

You have shown many verses, but those include all that God spoke! You need to show the ten are eternal by themselves. Also you need to show why the Passover Lamb is no longer valid and the feasts of the OT are no longer valid! These are the spoken word of God as well!

YOu also seem to forget that the ten were the cornerstone for the Old Covenant to the nation of Israel! It was not given to the Gentiles nor any other nation on the face of teh earth! It was gods Covenant unto the descendants of Abraham Isaac and Jacob! And that covenant has been replaced by a new one and as Hebrews the Old one with all its laws has been rendered obsolete!

No where in the New TEstament (Acts ON) will you find a verse committing the church to obey the ten copmmandments. YOu will however find a passage that says the ten commandments written in stone are a ministry of death!

I am sorry dear friend but I disagree with your post and claims here. I have already shown why. You are free to believe as you wish. As posted earlier and most Greek and Hebrew scholars will also tell you, the english is different to the Greek and Hebrew language. If you believe word definition of the Hebrew and Greek alone supersedes the context within scripture and chapter you are in error. It is always the surrounding context in the Hebrew and Greek that determines Hebrew and Greek word definitions. Not the other way around. As posted earlier that is like looking at a leaf while not being able to see the tree it is connected to or the forest the tree and leaf are sitting in. You are yet to post scripture that proves your claims here and have not shown scripture to support your view that believers can depart the faith and return to a life of know unrepentant sin. I am still waiting here...

Well that is why you believe teh church is bound to teh ten commandments. Because words do not stand alone in their meaning.

I Agree that words like saved (sozo) must be determinied by context. But whether it means kept safe, deliverd or salvation in the eternal sense, these are all meanings th eword itself has apart from context. Context only will define a word when it has multiple by synonymous meanings to see if it is a physical or spiritual salvation i nthis case.

The Greek and Hebrew Word Father is defined by itself. The context does not define ABBA nor Pateras! It is Father all by itself.

Well looking at a leaf by itself does not lend you to see the tree, unless you trace the leaf back to teh proper tree and then look upon it!

I have shown you that believers can and gave you verses to show why! sin is no longer the issue!

1. You need to show why when Jesus forgives all a persons sins - He will take that forgiveness back away!

2. YOu need to show how you can take yourself out of the Fathers hands and Jesus hands when they said no one could!

3. YOu need to show how being sealed until the day of redemption is not true!

4. You need to show that He who has begin a good work in you , shall perform it until that day is conditional.

5. You need to show how eternal life is conditional based on obedience.

could go on and repeat all the lines I gave you before and you still have not answered.

But the bottom line is you do not think that the blood of Jesus is enough to save a soul!

YOu also believe that an omniscient God would save someone knowing full well He was going to yank that salvation back later on!

YOu also believe Jesus does not have the power to keep those who call on Him for salvation. That personal unbelief is stronger than Jesus ability to love His own!

You believe that someone can become a child of God only to at a later date become an unchild of God! All with no SCripture or wrongly divided SCripture because you do not believe words have their own specific meanings apart from context.

I stand amazed you can even understand what I write here with that mindset of yours.

Your argument was that God's 10 commandments were not eternal and the standard or mark of sin when broken or righteousness when obeyed from the heart. I simply provided scripture to prove otherwise. In the new covenant according to the scriptures Gods' law (10 commandments) give us the knowledge of good and evil, sin and righteousness *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7 1 John 3:4 and if we break anyone of them we stand guilty before God of sin *James 2:10-11. The new covenant is God's law written on the heart *Hebrews 8:10-12 through love *Romans 13:8-10; James 2:8-12 through faith *Ephesians 2:8-9 which establishes God's law in those who believe Gods' Word *Romans 3:31; Romans 8:1-4. Unless we are born again we cannot enter into Gods' kingdom *John 3:3-7. Those who are born of God do not practice sin *1 John 3:6-9. Sin practicing sin and those who do not practice sin (knowingly breaking anyone of God's 10 commandments) is the difference between the children of God and the children of the devil *1 John 3:9-10; Revelation 12:17; Revelation 14:12; Revelation 22:14. According to the scripture those who say they are from God and knowingly break his commandments are lying and the truth is not in them *1 John 2:3-4. For me only God's Word is true and we should believe and follow them *Romans 3:4; Acts of the Apostles 5:29 over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God. Well dear friend we will have to agree to disagree but let me explain why. I believe the whole bible from Genesis to Revelation disagrees with your claims here so let me provide the scriptures over a few posts that you claim are not existent in the new testament as there are many of them...

WHAT DID JESUS AND THE APOSTLES TEACH ABOUT GOD’S LAW
(the scriptures below are no where near exhaustive)

Jesus taught the 10 commandments…..


1. Jesus kept God’s Law (10 commandments) and said the Law and the prophets would not pass away (Matthew 5:17-18)
2. Jesus taught others to follow the 10 commandments (Mark 10:17-21)
3. Jesus taught that Love is the fulfilling (doing) of God’s Law (10 commandments Matthew 22:36-40)
4. If we break God’s Law by following man-made traditions we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)
5. Jesus says if we commit sin we are a servant of sin and he has come to free us from sin (John 8:32-36)
6. Jesus taught if you love God you will keep God’s Law and abide in His Love (John 14:15; 15:10
7. If anyone is breaking any of God’s commandments and teaching others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven <least = lost> (Matthew 5:19)
8. No one can obey God’s Law producing the fruit of obedience of ourselves and unless we abide in Jesus we can do nothing (John 15:4-10)

Paul affirms the Ten Commandments……

1. Paul teaches God's people keep the Sabbath Hebrews 4.
2. Paul tells gentiles that "what matters is KEEPING the Commandments of GOD" 1 Corinthians 7:19
3. Paul tells gentiles "it is not the HEARERS of the Law that are just before God but the DOERS of the Law will be justified... on the day when according to my GOSPEL God will judge all mankind" Romans 2:13-16
4. Paul asks that gentiles consider the doctrine of LAW "Do we then make void the LAW of God by our faith? God forbid! In fact we establish the Law of God" Romans 3:31
5. Paul tells ALL Christians that it is only the lost who will "not subject themselves to the Law of God neither indeed CAN they" Romans 8:6-8
6 Paul teaches all Christians under the NEW Covenant that God's LAW as known in Jer 31:31-33 is "written on the heart and mind" Hebrews 8:10-11
7. Paul tells all Christians that the OT text is to be used for Doctrine 2 Timothy 3:16
AND He never claims that "if I did not write it -- it is not scripture for us today" -- as one or two have imagined for us.
8. Paul tells all Christians that the 5th commandment is the "FIRST commandment with a promise" Ephesians 6:1-2 and is binding on all Christians.
9. God's Law (10 commandments) are holy, just and good (Romans 7:12)
10. God's Law gives us a knowledge of what sin is (Romans 3:20; 7:7)
11. The penalty of breaking God's Law without Jesus is death (Romans 6:23)
12. If we break God's Law we dishonor God (Romans 2:23)
13. If we sin we are "under the Law" and guilty before God (Romans 3:19)
14. We are saved by faith but our faith establishes the Law in us (Romans 3:31)
15. If we are saved by grace we should not break God's Law (Romans 6:1-7)
16. We should not break God's Law if we are under grace (Romans 6:15)
17. We are to serve the Law of God through the mind because that is where sin starts (Romans 6:17; 7:25; 8:4; 12:2)
18. It is God's Law that brings us to Jesus (Galatians 3:24)
19. God's salvation frees us from sin so we can be obedient to God's Law and live a life of holiness (Romans 6:22)
20. We will be judged by God's Law and only those that are obedient will be justified because of their faith (Romans 2:4-13)
21. God's Law can only be obeyed through love and a changed heart which comes by faith in God's Word (Romans 2:21-29; 13:9-10; Hebrews 8:9-10)
22. If we break God's Law and are in unrepentant sin we will be lost and will received God's judgements (Hebrews 10:26-27)

John affirms the 10 commandments……

1. John says it is only by keeping God’s 10 commandments that we know that we know God (1 John 2:3)
2. If someone says that they know God and do not keep God’s 10 commandments they are lying and not telling the truth (1 John 2:4)
3. We should purify ourselves as Jesus is pure (1 John 3:3)
4. Sin is the breaking of God’s 10 commandments (1 John 3:4)
5. Whoever is abiding in Christ does not commit sin (1 John 3:6; John 15:4-10)
6. If you are in unrepentant sin you have not seen Jesus or know him (1 John 3:6)
7. John warns us that only those that are obedience to God’s Law are his true followers (1 John 3:7)
8. If someone is committing unrepentant sin they are following the devil and not God (1 John 3:7)
9. If you are born of God and abiding in him you will not commit sin (1 John 3:9; 1 John 3:6; John 15:4-10
10. It is the keeping of God’s commandments that is the difference between those that are following God and those that are not following God (1 John 3:10; 1 John 5:3)
11. It is only by Love through faith that we can keep God’s commandments (1 John 5:3-4)
12. God’s true believers in the end days will keep all of God’s commandments through faith in Jesus (Rev 14:12; 22:14)

James also affirms the 10 commandments…….

1. James says God’s Law (10 commandments) are a Royal Law (James 2:8)
2. If we break one of God’s commandments we a guilty before God as sinners breaking all of God’s Law and gave some examples of breaking God’s Law (James 2:9-11)
3. James says God’s Law is a law of liberty and freedom (James 2:12)
4. The 10 commandments (God’s Law) are the standard in the judgment (James 2:12)
5. If our faith does not have the fruit of obedience to God’s Law it is dead and not true faith (James 2:16-26)

Peter affirms the 10 commandments……..

1. Sanctification is to obedience to God’s Law (1 Peter 1:2)
2. We can only be changed from sin to obedience to God’s Law by the power of God and it will be revealed in the last days (1 Peter 1:5)
3. We should give up our sins to be holy because Jesus is holy (1 Peter 1:13-16)
4. Jesus is your example who did no sin (1 Peter 2:21-22)
5. Cease from sin and do not live in the flesh (1 Peter 4:1-3)
6. Judgement will begin at the house of God and sinners (those breaking God’s 10 commandments) will not be saved.
7. God has given us his precious promises and as we believe them God will grant us his divine power to live a life of Godliness (obedience to God’s Law; 2 Peter 1:2-4)
8. The Un-Godly (disobedient to God’s Law) will be like Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Peter 2:6)
9. If any turn away from God’s Law and are in unrepentant sin breaking any of God’10 commandments they will be lost (2 Peter 2:20-22)
10 God is not willing that any should perish but that everyone should come to repentance and turn away from sin to follow God’s 10 commandments because those that do not will receive the judgements of God (2 Peter 3:5-14)

What did Jesus and the Apostles teach about the Sabbath in the New Testament?

1. It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (Matthew 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56)
2. Jesus made the Sabbath for all mankind (Hebrews 1:2; John 1:1-3; 14; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16-17; Mark 2:27)
3. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28)
4. If you do not believe and follow God you cannot enter His Sabbath rest (Hebrews 4)
5. It is one of God’s 10 commandments we break it we are guilty or breaking all (James 2:8-12)
6. Breaking it is sin (1 John 3:4)
7. God’s true followers keep it Holy as God commanded (Revelation 14:12; Revelation 22:14; Ezekiel 20:20)

God’s Law in the NC is written on our hearts through faith to love and it is love the fulfils God’s Law in us as we walk not after the flesh but after the spirit and is why Jesus says f you love me keep my commandments. (John 14:15; John 15:10). If we knowingly break one of God’s commandments we commit sin (1 John 3:4). This includes the 7th Day Sabbath which Jesus made for us and commands us to keep as a holy day.

As shown above much scripture has been provided in regards to the purpose of God's 10 commandments in the new covenant. Perhaps you can provide me a single scriptures that says...

1. That God's 4th commandments 7th day Sabbath has been abolished?

2. That Jesus is a Sabbath?

3. The Sabbath (seventh day) was ever changed from the seventh to the first day of the week?

4. Where we are told to keep the first day of the week holy?

5. Where the first day of the week (Sunday) is ever called a holy day?

6. That says that Jesus ever kept the first day (Sunday)?

7. That tells us to keep the first day in honour of the resurrection of Christ?

8. Where the first day is ever given any sacred name?

9. That affirms that any of the apostles ever kept the first day as the Sabbath?

10. From any apostolic writings that authorizes Sunday observance as the Sabbath of God?

11. Where we are told not to work on the first day of the week?

12. That says the seventh day is no longer God's Sabbath day?

13. That says the seventh day Sabbath is ABOLISHED?

14. Where the apostles ever taught any convert to keep the first day of the week as a Sabbath?

15. Where the first day was ever appointed to be kept as the Lord's Day?

16. Where the first day of the week is ever called the Lord's Day?

17. That says that the first day of the week was ever sanctified and hallowed as a day of rest?

18. That says that the Father or the Son (Jesus) rested on the first day of the week?

19. That says that Jesus, Paul or any other of the apostles taught anyone to observe the first day of the week as the Sabbath?

20. That calls the seventh day the “Jewish Sabbath” or one text that calls Sunday the “Christian Sabbath”?

21. Telling man to keep the first day of the week holy or to worship or rest on the first day of the week?

22. Authorizing anyone to set aside God's Sabbath and observe any other day?

23. Showing any of the apostles keeping the first day of the week as the Sabbath?

24. Authorizing someone to set aside the fourth Commandment and observe any other day of the week?

25. Where any apostle taught us to keep the first day of the week as the Sabbath?

26. Declaring that the seventh day is no longer the Eternal Sabbath day?

27. Where Sunday is now appointed to be kept as the New Testament Sabbath or holy day?

And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath." (Acts 13:42) [Notice: the Gentiles (non-jews) wanted to hear the word of God on the next Sabbath. Paul DID NOT tell them, "Come back tomorrow, the first day of the week, because that's the day us Christians keep." He had them return the following SABBATH]

And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. (Acts 13:44)

For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day. (Acts 15:21)

(Isaiah 66:22-23) [I realize this is an OT scripture, BUT as you can clearly see here, this is dealing with the NEW heavens and earth (after Christ's return) and it states that ALL shall keep the Sabbath then.

It seems quite preposterous, that God would give the seventh day Sabbath to mankind at creation (Genesis 2:1-3), re-introduce it to Israel BEFORE Sinai - after they lost sight of it in captivity (Exodus 16:4-23; 27-29), codify it at Sinai (Exodus 20:1-17) having all His people observe it, including Christ, then change it to Sunday, just to change it back to Friday sunset - Saturday sunset.

THE SABBATH HAS NEVER CHANGED AND IS STILL TO BE OBSERVED!

Yep seems like EVERONE of God's 10 Commandments are repeated in the NEW TESTAMENT. :)

God's 10 Commandments give us a KNOWLEDGE of what sin is. SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4) Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Well that is why you believe teh church is bound to teh ten commandments. Because words do not stand alone in their meaning.

I Agree that words like saved (sozo) must be determinied by context. But whether it means kept safe, deliverd or salvation in the eternal sense, these are all meanings th eword itself has apart from context. Context only will define a word when it has multiple by synonymous meanings to see if it is a physical or spiritual salvation i nthis case.

The Greek and Hebrew Word Father is defined by itself. The context does not define ABBA nor Pateras! It is Father all by itself.

Well looking at a leaf by itself does not lend you to see the tree, unless you trace the leaf back to teh proper tree and then look upon it!

I have shown you that believers can and gave you verses to show why! sin is no longer the issue!

1. You need to show why when Jesus forgives all a persons sins - He will take that forgiveness back away!

2. YOu need to show how you can take yourself out of the Fathers hands and Jesus hands when they said no one could!

3. YOu need to show how being sealed until the day of redemption is not true!

4. You need to show that He who has begin a good work in you , shall perform it until that day is conditional.

5. You need to show how eternal life is conditional based on obedience.

But the bottom line is you do not think that the blood of Jesus is enough to save a soul!

YOu also believe that an omniscient God would save someone knowing full well He was going to yank that salvation back later on!

YOu also believe Jesus does not have the power to keep those who call on Him for salvation. That personal unbelief is stronger than Jesus ability to love His own!

You believe that someone can become a child of God only to at a later date become an unchild of God! All with no SCripture or wrongly divided SCripture because you do not believe words have their own specific meanings apart from context.

Although I believe most of your claims have been addressed already through the scriptures, I will address your 1-5 points for others that may be interested. I do not believe there is any need for the unfriendly comments you have provided here but I will leave that between you and God.

According to the scriptures sin (breaking anyone of God's 10 commandments) is always the issue. It is the reason for the fall of mankind and the reason for God's plan of salvation. It is the reason why JESUS had to die on the cross. It is the reason why God had to send his only begotten son to die on our behalf. The wages of sin is death *Romans 6:23 and without a blood offering for sin there is no reconcilation with God. Those who continue in known unrepentant sin will not enter into Gods kingdome because they reject the gift of God's dear son and count the blood of the covenant an unholy thing doing dispite to the Spirit of God's grace *Hebrews 10:26-27 and neither do they know God *1 John 3:6-9; 1 John 2:3-4. I believe you were already provide proof that the scriptures you provided are in context to believers not unbelievers that reject Gods Word in order to continue in known unrepentant sin.

Those who follow God do not practice sin as repentance is a condition of salvation and those who continue in SIN do not know God *1 JOHN 3:9; 1 JOHN 2:1-4 and need to be BORN AGAIN with a new heart to love. If the HOLY SPIRIT cannot come and go if we depart the faith, why are we warned to not GRIEVE the HOLY SPIRIT *EPHESIANS 4:30; PSALMS 51:10-13?

2. YOu need to show how you can take yourself out of the Fathers hands and Jesus hands when they said no one could
Already have. Context is to believers not unbelievers and those who have departed the faith to return to a life of known unrepentant sin and have chosen to depart God and his Word *Hebrews 6:5-8 and Hebrews 10:26-27
3. YOu need to show how being sealed until the day of redemption is not true!
I have never argued that God sealing his peopple to the day of redemption is not true. God's people who are defined in the scriptures as those who believe and follow Gods Word *John 10:26-27 are sealed with God's Spirit till the day of redemption. Those who grieve or quench God's Spirit *Ephesians 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:19 by departing the faith to return to a life of known unrepentant sin do according to the scripture do not enter into the kingdom of God because they count the blood of the covenant an unholy thing doing dispite to the Spirit of God's grace *Hebrews 10:26-39.
4. You need to show that He who has begin a good work in you , shall perform it until that day is conditional.
I have never argued that God does not begin and finish his work in those who continue to believe and follow his Word. I have only shown scripture that shows that it is only to those who believe and follow God's Word that Gods promises are given to and not to those who do not believe and follow Gods' Word.
5. You need to show how eternal life is conditional based on obedience.
This is repitition and already answered in the scriptures provided in point 1 already above.

1. James says God’s Law (10 commandments) are a Royal Law (James 2:8)

Wrong again! James says if you love you r neighbor as yourself you do well! Jesus said this and loving God fulfill all the law and the prophets! That is more than the ten written in stone that are a ministry of death to those who seek to follow them instead of Christ!

As for Jesus He kept all the Mosaic Law! He was not talking just abou tthe ten written in stone which are a ministry unto death not life! The law is the Torah which is 613 commands, of which ten are written in stone.

Besides You seem to forget that the law was the basis for the old covenant (including the ten which minister death), which was not made to the Gentile nations but to israel alone! And as The new covenant has gone into partial effect because jesus shed His blood the old covenant has waxed old and is made null!

I do not murder because the ten commandments forbid it! but God forbids it for the church! 9of the ten commands were carried over for the church but Saturday as teh Sabbath was not. That is a command for Israel and God for all generations! So unless you are a descendnat of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob- you are not bound to the Sabbath!

The church has traditionally kept Sunday as a day of worship to celebrate the resurrection!

Even Jewish believers would meet for Christian worship on Saturday night after synagogue or temple service which would have made it Sunday! That is history and beyond dispute.

We are not bound to the laws and commands given to Israel in the Old covenant, but bound to obey the commands of teh New covenant.

And if you want to say all of Gods Words are eternal, do you celebrate Passover on the eve of Nisan 15 every year?

Do you celebrate feast of tabernalce? First fruits? Unleavened bread? These are all commands spoken by God and are jsut as eternal according to your theology!

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. (Hebrews 4:4) [See Ephesians 5:1 where it states that we are to be imitators of God.]

There remaineth therefore a SABBATH Rest [See margin: Greek word is "Sabbatismos" which means "Sabbath-keeping"] to the people of God." (Hebrews 4:9)

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD." (Isaiah 66:22-23) [I realize this is an OT scripture, BUT as you can clearly see here, this is dealing with the NEW heavens and earth (after Christ's return) and it states that ALL shall keep the Sabbath then.

It seems quite preposterous, that God would give the seventh day Sabbath to mankind at creation (Genesis 2:1-3), re-introduce it to Israel BEFORE Sinai - after they lost sight of it in captivity (Exodus 16:4-23; 27-29), codify it at Sinai (Exodus 20:1-17) having all His people observe it, including Christ, then change it to Sunday, just to change it back to Friday sunset - Saturday sunset.

THE SABBATH HAS NEVER CHANGED AND IS STILL TO BE OBSERVED!

So do you cease from all labors on teh Sabbath? do not drive your vehicle, work in the yard, clean the house etc.etc.etc? The sabbath was a day of rest and worshipping on the sabbath became a practice after the return from Babylon and the birth of the synagogues! Do you require your pastor to work on the Sabbath?

Remember the commandment of Sabbath keeping:

King James Version

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Sabbatismos is sabbath keeping- a ceasing from all toil and labor! Not for going to church! That began after Israel returned from the Babylonian exile and the birth of the synagogues.

Well I do not believe what your claiming here is true dear friend as the context of Hebrews 4 proves that it is indeed talking about God's Sabbath rest. Here let's have a look at context and detail. No point in making statements we cannot prove through the scriptures so let me provide them in this post.

WHAT IS HIS REST (God's) IN HEBREWS 3 and HEBREWS 4?

HEBREWS 4
[1], Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of ENTERING INTO HIS REST, any of you should seem to come short of it.
[2], For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
[3], For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into MY REST: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
[4], For he spoke in a certain place of the SEVENTH DAY on this wise, And GOD DID REST THE SEVENTH DAY from all his works.
5,
And in this place again, If they shall enter into MY REST.

KEY POINTS OF HEBREWS 4:1-5

NOTE: CONTEXT is God's REST from the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST OF CREATION (v4-5) and those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW GOD's WORD [the GOSPEL] enter into God's SABBATH REST as GOD did on the SEVENTH DAY of the week. CONTEXT is GOD's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST and those who believe or do not believe God's WORD do not enter into that rest.

CONCLUSION: Yep lots of scripture here showing that if you do not enter into God's Gospel rest you cannot enter his SABBATH REST. v 1-4 is the context of the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH confirmed in v9-11 Hebrews 3-4 is talking about the Gospel and the keeping of God's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH by BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God's WORD. "There remains therefore a SABBATH rest to the people of God. Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief" v9-11. HEBREWS 4 supports the keeping of the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH by believing and following the Word of God.

According to God's Word, God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 and if we break anyone of them we stand guilty before God of sin *James 2:10-11.

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. There is not one scripture in all of Gods' Word that says God's 4th commandments has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

Hmmm nope! But here is why dear friend. You cannot separate love from obedience to God's law as it is only through faith that works by love that anyone can keep God's law. Let's have a look at the scriptures in detail again...

You cannot separate God’s Law of love from the 10 commandments because they are connected to each other. There is no need for confusion here. God’s Word makes it very clear. Let's look at the scriptures.

MATTHEW 22:36-40
[36] Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
[37], Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
[38], This is the first and great commandment.
[39], And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbour as yourself.
[40], ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

NOTE: Jesus when asked this question from the Lawyer is quoting from Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18. Finishes by saying that on the two great commandments of LOVE hang all the law and the prophets.

What does v40 mean?

LUKE 10:25-28
[25], And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tested him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
[26], He said unto him, what is written in the law? how read you?
[27], And he [the Lawyer] answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.
[28], And he said unto him, you have answered right: this do, and you shall live.

NOTE: The lawyer knew what it means to love God and love his neighbore. How? Notice the question that the lawyer starts os by asking Jesus; "WHAT SHALL I DO TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?". Now notice that the very same question is asked again and look how Jesus answers...

MATTHEW 19:16-19
[16], And, behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
[17], And he said to him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but IF YOU WILL ENTER INTO LIFE, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.
[18], He said to him, Which? Jesus said, YOU SHALL DO NO MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT LIE, [19], HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER; and you shall love your neighbour as yourself.
Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

NOTE: Notice in that the question from the rich young ruler is the very same question as asked by the lawyer "WHAT SHALL I DO TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?" but both were answered by Jesus in a different way. When the Lawer asked the question he answered his own question by saying LOVE to GOD and LOVE to his neighbor (from Deuteronomy 6:5; Leviticus 19:18). Jesus said he answered correctly. When the rich yound ruler asked the same question Jesus answered by saying keep the 10 Commandments and starts out quoting them as his duty of LOVE to his neighbor.

Is this a contradiction of scripture? In no way the answer has already been given in MATTHEW 22:36-40. ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS (LOVE TO GOD and LOVE TO MAN) HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

When we LOVE GOD and our NEIGHBOUR it is expressed through our actions.

If we LOVE our neighbor...

* We will honor our parents,
* We will not kill them
* We will not commit adultery with thier spouse
* We will not steal from them
* We will not lie to them
* We will not covet what they own.

If we LOVE our God...

* We will not have other Gods
* We will not make idols and worship them
* We will not take his name [follow] him in vain
* We will remember his Sabbath and keep it holy.

ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS [OF LOVE] HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

PAUL understood what JESUS was talking about...

ROMANS 13:8-10 [8], Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law. [9], For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. [10], Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore, love is the fulfilling [DOING] of the law.

Notice what PAUL says here? LOVE is fulfilling [doing] God's Commandments. God's Commandments or duty towards your neighbor is summed up as you shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself v9. [On these two commandments hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets Matthew 22:40].

PAUL agrees with Jesus that if you LOVE you will fulfill God's LAW. What about JAMES?

JAMES 2:8-12
[8] If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself [Sums up our duty of love in the 10 Commandments Romans 13:9] , you do well: [9], But if you have respect to persons, you commit sin, and are convicted of the law as transgressors. [10], For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. [11], For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet you kill, you are become a transgressor of the law. [12], So speak, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

James is using the second great commandment of LOVE which hangs all the commandments of our duty of love to our neighbour and quotes the commandments showing our duty towards our neighbor. This is why Jesus says “On these two commandments hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets” Matthew 22:40. and again..

JOHN 14:15 [15], IF YOU LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.

You cannot separate LOVE from God’s LAW. Love is the FULFILLING of it and is demonstrated by OBEDIENCE to Gods’ LAW as our duty of LOVE to God and man. [“On these two commandments [of LOVE] hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets]

CONCLUSION: It is very clear that JESUS, PAUL and JAMES are all in agreement that the two GREAT COMMANDMENTS of LOVE that JESUS quoted from Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18 were used and known in the OLD Testament scripture to sum up our duty of LOVE to God and man in the 10 Commandments.... God's LAW (Ten commandments) is not separated from LOVE it demonstrates it. You cannot have LOVE without fulfilling God's Ten Commandments. [On these two Commandments of LOVE hang all the LAW and the prophets].

LOVE is the NEW COVENANT promise to OBEY God's LAW *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10. WE enter into God's NEW COVENANT to LOVE unless we are BORN AGAIN...

JOHN 3:3-7
[3], Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

WHY do we need to be born again? As shown through the scriptures we have no LOVE.

1 JOHN 4:7-8 [7], Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God. [8], He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.

NOTE: Sound familiar? 1 JOHN 2:1-4; 1 JOHN 3:6; 1 JOHN 3:9 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets *MATTHEW 22:36-40.

1 JOHN 4:12 No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1 JOHN 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.

1 JOHN 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar [JESUS says they gave committed murder in their heart -Matthew 5:20-22] for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

1 JOHN 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. [ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS - MATTHEW 22:36-40]

[4], Nicodemus said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[5], Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[6], That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[7], Marvel not that I said to you, You must be born again.

He that is BORN of GOD does not commit sin because sin is breaking how God's LOVE is EXPRESSED through OBEDIENCE to God's WORD. This is expressed in a different way in 1 JOHN 3..

1 JOHN 3:3-10 [3], And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
[4], Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
[5], And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
[6], Whoever stays in him sins not: whoever sins has not seen him, neither known him.
[7], Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
[8], He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
[9], Whoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
[10], In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

CONCLUSION:NONE LOVE GOD or their fellow man while breaking any of God's 10 COMMANDMENTS as LOVE is an EXPRESSION of OBEYING them. You cannot separate the 10 Commandments from LOVE they are the very expression of what LOVE is and LOVE is the fulfilling of them under the NEW COVENANT promise * HEBREWS 8:10-12

You cannot separate God’s Law of love from the 10 commandments because they are connected to each other. There is no need for confusion here. God’s Word makes it very clear. Let's look at the scriptures.

MATTHEW 22:36-40
[36] Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
[37], Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
[38], This is the first and great commandment.
[39], And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbour as yourself.
[40], ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

NOTE: Jesus when asked this question from the Lawyer is quoting from Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18. Finishes by saying that on the two great commandments of LOVE hang all the law and the prophets.

What does v40 mean?

LUKE 10:25-28
[25], And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tested him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
[26], He said unto him, what is written in the law? how read you?
[27], And he [the Lawyer] answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.
[28], And he said unto him, you have answered right: this do, and you shall live.

NOTE: The lawyer knew what it means to love God and love his neighbore. How? Notice the question that the lawyer starts os by asking Jesus; "WHAT SHALL I DO TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?". Now notice that the very same question is asked again and look how Jesus answers...

MATTHEW 19:16-19
[16], And, behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
[17], And he said to him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but IF YOU WILL ENTER INTO LIFE, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.
[18], He said to him, Which? Jesus said, YOU SHALL DO NO MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT LIE, [19], HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER; and you shall love your neighbour as yourself.
Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

NOTE: Notice in that the question from the rich young ruler is the very same question as asked by the lawyer "WHAT SHALL I DO TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?" but both were answered by Jesus in a different way. When the Lawer asked the question he answered his own question by saying LOVE to GOD and LOVE to his neighbor (from Deuteronomy 6:5; Leviticus 19:18). Jesus said he answered correctly. When the rich yound ruler asked the same question Jesus answered by saying keep the 10 Commandments and starts out quoting them as his duty of LOVE to his neighbor.

Is this a contradiction of scripture? In no way the answer has already been given in MATTHEW 22:36-40. ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS (LOVE TO GOD and LOVE TO MAN) HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

When we LOVE GOD and our NEIGHBOUR it is expressed through our actions.

If we LOVE our neighbor...

* We will honor our parents,
* We will not kill them
* We will not commit adultery with thier spouse
* We will not steal from them
* We will not lie to them
* We will not covet what they own.

If we LOVE our God...

* We will not have other Gods
* We will not make idols and worship them
* We will not take his name [follow] him in vain
* We will remember his Sabbath and keep it holy.

ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS [OF LOVE] HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

PAUL understood what JESUS was talking about...

ROMANS 13:8-10 [8], Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law. [9], For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. [10], Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore, love is the fulfilling [DOING] of the law.

Notice what PAUL says here? LOVE is fulfilling [doing] God's Commandments. God's Commandments or duty towards your neighbor is summed up as you shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself v9. [On these two commandments hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets Matthew 22:40].

PAUL agrees with Jesus that if you LOVE you will fulfill God's LAW. What about JAMES?

JAMES 2:8-12
[8] If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself [Sums up our duty of love in the 10 Commandments Romans 13:9] , you do well: [9], But if you have respect to persons, you commit sin, and are convicted of the law as transgressors. [10], For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. [11], For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet you kill, you are become a transgressor of the law. [12], So speak, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

James is using the second great commandment of LOVE which hangs all the commandments of our duty of love to our neighbour and quotes the commandments showing our duty towards our neighbor. This is why Jesus says “On these two commandments hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets” Matthew 22:40. and again..

JOHN 14:15 [15], IF YOU LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.

You cannot separate LOVE from God’s LAW. Love is the FULFILLING of it and is demonstrated by OBEDIENCE to Gods’ LAW as our duty of LOVE to God and man. [“On these two commandments [of LOVE] hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets]

CONCLUSION: It is very clear that JESUS, PAUL and JAMES are all in agreement that the two GREAT COMMANDMENTS of LOVE that JESUS quoted from Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18 were used and known in the OLD Testament scripture to sum up our duty of LOVE to God and man in the 10 Commandments.... God's LAW (Ten commandments) is not separated from LOVE it demonstrates it. You cannot have LOVE without fulfilling God's Ten Commandments. [On these two Commandments of LOVE hang all the LAW and the prophets].

LOVE is the NEW COVENANT promise to OBEY God's LAW *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10. WE enter into God's NEW COVENANT to LOVE unless we are BORN AGAIN...

JOHN 3:3-7
[3], Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

WHY do we need to be born again? As shown through the scriptures we have no LOVE.

1 JOHN 4:7-8 [7], Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God. [8], He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.

NOTE: Sound familiar? 1 JOHN 2:1-4; 1 JOHN 3:6; 1 JOHN 3:9 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets *MATTHEW 22:36-40.

1 JOHN 4:12 No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1 JOHN 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.

1 JOHN 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar [JESUS says they gave committed murder in their heart -Matthew 5:20-22] for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

1 JOHN 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. [ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS - MATTHEW 22:36-40]

Continuing.

[4], Nicodemus said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[5], Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[6], That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[7], Marvel not that I said to you, You must be born again.

He that is BORN of GOD does not commit sin because sin is breaking how God's LOVE is EXPRESSED through OBEDIENCE to God's WORD. This is expressed in a different way in 1 JOHN 3..

1 JOHN 3:3-10 [3], And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
[4], Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
[5], And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
[6], Whoever stays in him sins not: whoever sins has not seen him, neither known him.
[7], Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
[8], He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
[9], Whoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
[10], In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

CONCLUSION:NONE LOVE GOD or their fellow man while breaking any of God's 10 COMMANDMENTS as LOVE is an EXPRESSION of OBEYING them. You cannot separate the 10 Commandments from LOVE they are the very expression of what LOVE is and LOVE is the fulfilling of them under the NEW COVENANT promise * HEBREWS 8:10-12

1. These believers who became unbelievers , or these saved people who became lost were once believers!

So you have failed the Word of God for when they were believers this verse applied:

"I give them eternal life and they shall NEVER perish!"
This one also applied: " No man can pluck them out of my hand"
As well as this one:

"I will NEVER leave you or forsake you!"

So before you go off on another trail- answer these questions from ou rperspective that children of God can become once again teh children of the devil
2. People with eternal life can lose that eternal life
3. People who are already seated in heavenly places- can get yanked out!
4. All things work together for their good- becomes no more.

See I believe that we show love by our obedience! But I do good works not to stay saved or maintain my salvation like God is counting and waiting for "your big screw up" to yank everything He has given me back.

I strive to obey God because He loves me, has given me eternal life, made me His child, seated me in heavenly places, perfected me forever, etc.etc.etc.etc.

And I know that the love of my Father is so deep wide and beyiond knowledge, that if I fall into a season of unbelief- that sin was already paid for at the cross and the righteousness of Jesus is applied to me!

No. The passages quoted earlier are in reference to those who commit known unrepentant sin. They were not passages referring to "believers" who fall into sin and repent and return to God. In these cases please see 1 John 1:9; 1 John 2:3-4. Jesus says it is lawful to do good and God's work on the Sabbath *Matthew 12:1-12.

No. The scriptures you posted as proven earlier did no such thing. All the scriptures you posted as already shown were promises to "believers" present tense active participle in the Greek. You did not post a single scripture that was a reference to "unbelievers" or those who have departed the faith to return to a life of known unrepentant sin *Hebrews 10:26-31; Hebrews 6:4-8. As shown earlier God's Word (not mine) says God's salvation is conditional on believing and following God's Word (present tense active participle) *John 10:26-27; Matthew 7:21-27 (more scripture support here linked).

Yes ONE purpose of teh ten laws written in stone which are a ministry of death is to define some sins (Paul defined a whole lot more for the church!)

But also to empower sin to work in us to bring death!

Romans 7:
4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.


Also sin gets its strength by teh commandments!

1 Corinthians 15:55-57
King James Version

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

That is why Paul wrote this:

2 Corinthians 3:7
King James Version

7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

Romans 4:15
Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

And then Praise God this wonderful truth:

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

these are the Inspired Words of God without a denominational spin on them!
