"And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." Gen 1:5

Wondered why the evening first ? Just beginning to read about the Hebrew meaning. As usual there's so much more when studied from that perspective.

When considering the order of the evening first then the day -

theexplanation was used who looked at The Origin of the Universe and Evening and Morning from deeperchristian

With darkness, evening, and night, there is a movement towards chaos, obscurity, mixture. In contrast, at dawn, darkness yields to the light. Light breaks through and intensifies its positive progression until it completely replaces the darkness. Order is restored. The black and cold is replaced with light and warmth. There is movement of time.

Darkness, night, and evening have strong references to the serpent.

In Gen 1-2, with each passing day, God created more order til He completed creation and rested.
