Police are liars then. Seems a bit of an extreme leftist stance you are taking.

Why would you call them liars? The article seems to suggest that the main charges were not showing proper ID and serving alcohol without a license. They most likely carry a much higher punishment and are much easier to prove than lack of social distancing on a boat with adequate capacity to maintain proper social distancing for the number of people aboard. That doesn't mean they were maintaining social distancing . What it does means is that it would be harder to prove they were not than if they had exceeded the proper capacity, or to prove they were serving alcohol without a license or did not display the proper ID. The complainants most likely were not complaining about the first two things so, since they got a complaint about social distancing , they threw that charge in to show they took the complaints seriously. Even though the other charges would be sufficient. I could see the defendants making a plea deal to improper social distancing in order to have the other two charges dropped. p

I didn't. You did. Remember?

you said:
IMO they just threw in the social distancing charge

and as for the rationale....
The complainants most likely were not complaining about the first two things so, since they got a complaint about social distancing , they threw that charge in to show they took the complaints seriously.

So you think they lied to placate some complainant. Not really seeing how this disagrees with my original comment.

Would you prefer the term "Karens." And the answer, because it's accurate. Karens are always radical. And snitches are a type of Karen.

I’d prefer not to judge them at all without any knowledge of who they are or why they decided to speak to the authorities.

Don't you think it takes an absolute radical to call the cops on a few people on a boat?

I'd say it takes a person with mental health issues myself... who cares what others do? For real.

I don’t know them, I feel no need to cast aspersions on their character, It’s possible that you are correct but as someone once said....

“You can look at anyone in hindsight but until you walk a mile in their shoes you can't really judge them”.

(it was you in case you had forgotten)

As far as cops feeling a need to justify their existence, with all the calls to "defund" police department's across the nation they may feel undue pressure from the public to justify their paychecks.

Possibly, I think it’s more likely they were acting according to instructions regarding cracking down on people who are likely prolonging the current situation by acting irresponsibly.

You may consider my post an opinion piece... :) likely one with far more worth than the "news" article..

I consider your unpleasant insinuations at best worthless and at worst damaging in the sense that you appear to be perpetuating this silly partisan bickering which benefits no one.

My memory may not be perfect but when I have written proof that i did not say something i.e. the quote you provided, I don't need that memory to be all that wonderful. If I would actually have said the police were lying this is what the quote would have looked like,

"The police are lying."

Perhaps you should not put words in my mouth? In addition it would be nice if you stopped cherry picking only parts of my posts and representing them as if they were the whole thrust of my argument.

Where did it mention radicals?

How do you know what the cops “felt”? Seems a strange take on it.

In today’s world, anyone that makes a right winger the least bit uncomfortable is a radical.

In NYC they give you a ticket for such things...
The real consequences are the fine and the whole day it takes to see the judge to pay the fine...and they deliberately take all day too.

This "party boat" had three bars but was without a liquor license?
That seems odd. It's definitely difficult to obtain one in NYC...I remember how several high end hotels opened without one and finally got one later.
And their registration number wasn't properly displayed? Seems bit picky but...it is a law.

I don't think that they want the party boat in business for a while.
