• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

So last night was a really bad one. I was constantly being attacked by bad thoughts from this demon. And I had a really bad thought, I thought "The Holy Spirit is satan". It wasn't from the devil but from me, of course I didn't mean it and I rejected and rebuked it in Jesus name immediately.

Now I can not feel the Holy Spirit anymore while praying. It feels like I am praying to a brick wall. I can still speak in tongues though.

What is your opinion on my situation? Is it over for me?

Please never hand over your salvation to bad thoughts. If you have bad thoughts repent from them and give glory to Jesus for dying in your place and seek out His word of truth to get good thoughts.

The more you praise Jesus for salvation, the securer you will be in your faith, the more you fear you sinned unforgivable against Him, the less you will experience the freedom of your salvation. It is is all nonsense such thinking. Honestly true.

Do you really think that God did not take in to account that there would be people suffering from O.C.D or other mental illnesses that He made His salvation impossible for? Such is not thinking rightly about Him. He is perfect God, His plan of salvation is the best thing down here, not the worst nightmare.

So please operate out of a trusting heart. Trust in Jesus. Not yourself but trust in Jesus. Each time you look at you to assure your salvation, you will fall, but each time you look at Jesus you will break free from your anguish. Let this be a sign unto you.

Peace

It ain't over til it's over.

I think it's a lot harder than what you describe to lose one's salvation. A believer doesn't lose their salvation. It might be possible for a person to cease being a believer, but no way you did that in what you describe.

You can still pray in tongues - good!

But your UNDERSTANDING needs to get in on it too.

If you believe and confess RIGHT NOW - that's the point. And you said you immediately rejected and rebuked the bad thought.
It ain't over for you, Job405 !!

I think you need to keep treating your OCD. You can't see the evidence in your post showing you you're not a blasphemer because you have a bad flare-up. God's got you.

When ever you have those thoughts Make The Sign Of The Cross over yourself and say :

"Glory to The Father, to The Son, and to The Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen."

Nope, it’s not over. Intrusive thoughts are Satanic. They are not your own thoughts.

You didn't lose your salvation. However, the question you need to answer is, "What is salvation?" Too often people believe they can lose salvation because that which they believe is salvation isn't true. Therefore, they should feel as if it is lost. "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:13)." Ask God to teach you the truth about the Gospel and salvation so that "you may know that you have eternal life." Grace and Peace.

Feelings are not a valid method of judging whether or not one is a Christian, any more than they confirm one's citizenship.

What is your opinion on my situation? Is it over for me?

May I suggest you study everything Jesus endured, gave up suffered in order to save you.

When you understand crucifixion you will understand something of the depth and extent of his love for you.
So the idea that this deep practical love is going to be overcome by the nothing that are intrusive thoughts.

Please read the article 25 tips to successfully treat your OCD.
It has very helpful tips to cope with intrusive thoughts.

@Job405 demonic possession vs mental health is an interesting topic, but I won't pretend to know how to tell one vs the other and I also won't pretend that this designation matters overmuch.
What I encourage you to do is to seek to understand the Mental Health aspect of intrusive thoughts; it should lead to some effective treatment/strategies--preferably with a Christian based resource/therapist. And in parallel, share your experience with a trusted Christian in your church--if nothing else, his/her prayers will do wonders.
Prayers.
