For these words we have heard from our Lord Jesus :

I have said these things to you,

that in Me

you may have peace.

In the world you will have tribulation.

But take heart;

I have overcome the world." -John 16:33

Have we missed when the Lord have said “ in me “ or “in union with Christ” or “in Christ” ?!

Yes, we love to have the peace the Lord give in tribulation.

Why we have not “take heart” as our Lord have said !

Why we missed

what the Lord have said, or

do we not fully comprehend !!

Yes, the Lord Jesus

give this promise to us !

We found not only the Lord give us comfort !

As it is written by apostle Paul:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

the Father of mercies

and God of all COMFORT,

who COMFORTS us in all our affliction,

so that we may be able to COMFORT those who are in any affliction,

with the COMFORT with

which we ourselves are COMFORTED BY GOD.-2Corinthians 1:3-4

Yes, we find out that God and Father of our Lord Jesus also comfort us in our affliction !

What God’s promise do ?

This is my COMFORT

in my affliction,

that Your promise gives me life. -Psalms 119:50

Also, it is explained how the psalmist receive:

This COMFORT has fallen to me,

that I have kept Your precepts. -Psalms 119:56

When I think of your rules from of old, I take COMFORT, O LORD. -Psalms 119:52

And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the COMFORT of the Holy Spirit,-Acts 9:31

Beside, the Lord’s comfort give us peace — also, His steadfast love ;

Let Your steadfast love COMFORT me according to Your promise to Your servant.-Psalm 119:76

Not only in tribulation, or when we are afflicted, even we walk in the valley of shadow of death — our Lord comfort us ;

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they COMFORT me.-Psalm 23:4

Why the Lord give us so valuable and great promises to us ? For what purpose ?

by which He has granted to us

His precious and very great promises,

so that through them

you might come to

share in God’s nature

and escape the corruption which evil desires have brought into the world. -2 Peter 1:4

Why do many find it still difficult to keep God’s precepts and receive God’s comfort?

Do the tribulation, affliction, darkness of the valley of shadow of death make many feel heavy ?

Has not the Lord know about that, too ?

Come to me,

all who labor and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you,

and learn from me,

for I am gentle and lowly in heart,

and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”-Matthew 11:28-30

What the Lord mean ‘yoke’ ?

‘Yoke’ I find what is said in a dictionary:
a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plow or cart that they are to pull.

Are the Lord suffering WITH US when He said to take His yoke?;

we suffer WITH HIM ( Christ )

in order that

we may also be glorified with Him. -Romans 8:17

For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings,

so through Christ

we share abundantly

in COMFORT too. -2 Corinthians 1:5

Then Jesus told His disciples, "

If anyone would come after me,

let him deny himself

and take up his cross and follow me. -Matthew 16:24

Are not those who are heavy laden to call to come after Jesus?

What ‘rest’ do Jesus promise then ?

Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands,

-Hebrews 4:1

For in this way there will be richly provided for you

an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. -2 Peter 1:11

Yes, the Lord Jesus give us promise of entering His rest in His eternal kingdom.

Why do Jesus want us to learn from Him ?

Yes, very clearly that the Lord Jesus want us to partake His divine nature that we may escape the corruption which sinful desire has brought into the world.

For this accord what God the Father’s purpose, accomplished in Christ Jesus:

For those whom He ( God the Father ) foreknew

He ( God ) also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son,

in order that He ( Christ ) might be the firstborn among many brothers. -Romans 8:29

This yoke that Jesus mention is easy when we are in union with Him!

But what Jesus’ burden ?:

And this is the will of Him ( God the Father ) who sent me,

that I should lose nothing of all that He has given me,

but raise it up on the last day. -John 6:39

until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of His glory.-Ephesians 1:14

Yes, it is true that the Spirit of our Lord call us to come to Him !

"I, I am He who comforts you; -Isaiah 51:12

When do we need to be comforted ? Was it not when we were downcast ?

My eyes long for Your promise;

I ask, "When will you comfort me?" -Psalms 119:82

God, who comforts the downcast,-2 Corinthians 7:6

When we need God’s comfort ? Is it when we were broken-hearted and crushed in spirit?

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. -Psalms 34:18

He ( the Lord ) heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. -Psalms 147:3

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. -2 Timothy 1:7

What these things that burdened us ?Were they not anxieties ?

Cast your burden on the LORD, and He will sustain you;

He will never permit the righteous to be moved. -Psalms 55:22

casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you. -1 Peter 5:7

Blessed be the Lord,

who daily bears us up;

God is our salvation. Selah- Psalm 68:19

What this things brought us low ? Was it not sorrow?

You have kept count of my tossings;

put my tears in Your bottle.

Are they not in Your book? -Psalms 56:

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." -Revelation 21:4

So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. -John 16:22

Did someone hate us ? Where is the comfort that we need ? What we should ask ?

Show me a sign of Your favor,

that those who hate me may see and be put to shame

because you, LORD, have helped me

and COMFORTED me. -Psalms 86:17

Who will be comforted when about to die ? Do someone care ?

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints. -Psalms 116:15

As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; -Isaiah 66:13

Can anyone say something about this suffering ?

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. -Romans 8:18

Can God comfort us again after what we had done !

You will say in that day: "I will give thanks to you, O LORD,

for though You were angry with me,

Your anger turned away,

that You might COMFORT me. -Isaiah 12:1

Can God’s comfort last?

What can be established?

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father,

who loved us

and gave us ETERNAL COMFORT

and good hope through grace, -2 Thessalonians 2:16

COMFORT your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. -2 Thessalonians 2:17

Do your hearts still trouble? What will Jesus say ?

"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;

believe also in Me. -John 14:1

Can Jesus do those who believe ?

May the God of hope fill you

with all joy and peace in believing,

so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. -Romans 15:13

You will increase my greatness and COMFORT me again. -Psalms 71:21

What God will say to heaven and earth and mountains when God comfort us, His people?

Sing for joy, O heavens,

and exult, O earth;

break forth, O mountains, into singing!

For the LORD has COMFORTED His people

and will have compassion on His afflicted. -Isaiah 49:13

Then, what we should say to God who comfort us:

I love the LORD,

because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. -Psalms 116:1

Because he inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live. -Psalms 116:2

Have we received encouragement in Christ?

Have we received COMFORT from God’s steadfast love,

Have we noticed participation in the Spirit,

Have we grown in affection and sympathy for those who are afflicted?

God comfort them, as God comfort us.

Let us rejoice by being of the same mind,

having the same love,

being in full accord and of one mind.

Let us in humility count others more significant than ourselves.

Let each of us look not only to our own interests,

but also to the interests of others.

Let us have this mindset among ourselves, which is ours in Christ Jesus,-Philippians 2:1-5

Hallelujah

Amen

How awesome are

God’s promises which give us life !

How blessed we who receive God’s comfort!

To God be the glory

Amen
