At what point in time will we stand up to this lying nonsense??

Communion Banned in Toronto! UPDATED · Fr. John Peck

From the very beginning this has all been about control of the masses, seeing how much they could get away with, and a busload of lies. It is understandable that in the beginning, with all the fright messages being put out by the complicit media, the Church moved with caution.

But now..........after it has become clear that we have been treated to one lie after the other, isn't it time that a stand be taken? Hasn't it become clear to all the Christians in the world that this has become an opportunity for the God-haters in government to persecute the Church? What has been the response of the Church before?

Polite but firm disobedience.

When is enough enough? When is the pushback against these people going to start? Or is this now the "new normal," cowering in fear before the new Caesars instead of doing what we are supposed to do and worshiping God?

This is most sad and discouraging.

just pray and let your priest know any and all frustrations. you really should be preparing for your reception into the Church, and not trying to call out the bishops at this time.

I didn't realize I was calling them out. My bad. I find it terribly sad that the Church has let the world bully it around.

the Church hasn't. people in positions of power might have, but that doesn't mean the Church has.

While I feel people are right for newbies to stay calm and cool, I will at least say that the OP has fire in his belly and the right kind of anger. His frustration and fire is in the right place and comes from a good place as well. The Lord kicked over the money-changers and the flea market scum, and I think it's high time our hierarchs start standing up to socialism. Socialism is a cancer more dangerous than this pandemic.

I often wonder if the world isn't in for a reboot soon and maybe some major upheaval.

Please accept my humble counsel, as follows, because these times are most difficult and trying even for the elect of God:

Continue on your journey towards righteousness with great hunger and thirst, and grace filled repentance.

Strive to become a full participant in the Life in Christ by being received into His holy Orthodox Church.

Don't worry about what our bishop or bishops are doing. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is indeed present with us. If you are one of His sheep then He has ways of seeing to it that you will indeed eat His flesh and drink His blood as needed, even if the practice is declared illegal (as it was, after all, illegal during the time of the Apostles and for at least two centuries afterwards).

Even if Communion is banned, that does not mean that those who are willing to be subject to arrest, persecution, torture, being "shut out of the synagogues", and even killed will not be Communing. You have to come to the realization that the majority of people you see in attendance in a typical Orthodox Christian parish do not fit the above description, and so if the offering of the Holy Mysteries is being extended to them, then they will quickly expose any underground, secret practice to the authorities (civil or ecclesiastical) who will see to it that it is stopped. The early Church could not go public with the Holy Mysteries under their circumstances, and neither can we do so now in places where the Holy Mysteries are illegal. It would be naive to expect that we would insist on continuing in our very public and open celebration of the Holy Eucharist during times of persecution.

What bishops are saying and the saints are doing are often different. There is no need for the saints to be public about the Holy Mysteries, which are really not for the uninitiated anyhow. In all humility and Love I recommend silence (i.e. we must learn to keep our mouths shut and our keyboards still). I'm not saying that we are to be silent with regards to the good news of the Resurrection and the Kingdom which is to come. I only say that we do not "speak of Thy Holy Mysteries to Thine enemies". It takes great humility and discernment to be able to know who His enemies are, because in our days love has grown "cold". We have to examine our own hearts to see if we are really "doers" of the Law of God rather than "hearers" only, who prefer to judge others, even priests and bishops in the Church, over waging warfare within the arena of our own hearts where self-love and the passions can be overcome with the help of God. Let's see to it that we wage this most vital of battles first, then when we've received ample instruction by God on what Love is, having had the "log" that is in our own eye removed by the grace of the Holy Spirit, then we will also have received the clear-sightedness by which we can know how to behave and what things to say under any circumstances.

So, "prayer and fasting" is the way. God will reward us, as it is written (Matthew 6:6). Don't worry about anything else for now.

Thank you. It is indeed so easy to see the speck in another's eye and forget the beam we carry. You are correct. For each one of us, the battle is within first and foremost, before we can take the battle to the world.

And not being received into the Church yet, how can I say that I have truly even begun the inner struggle?

Thank you. Please remember to pray that I will also be helped to adhere to this council, which is from our Lord's very own Holy lips. May He have mercy on us.

They won't. It was the laity that snitched. The GOA is a shell of its its former self. The laity is the world(ly). The 5th column has infiltrated the Church.

There's an old Russian saying, "Don't bring your Typikon to my monastery".

Unless you're in Toronto or part of the Greek Archdiocese, don't worry too much about it. The Greeks as a whole aren't too far from becoming Eastern Catholics under Rome anyway (purely my own opinion)

And remember, I think it was St John Chrysostom who said that the road to hell is paved with the skulls of priests and the bishops are the lampposts lighting the way. The meaning behind this isn't that bishops and priests are inherently evil (St John himself was a priest and later a bishop), but it means that because their decisions impact more people than just themselves they will likely be judged a bit more harshly.

This is truly vomiting in my mouth material. Shame on them. Hearing about laity turning in priests or bishops, it'd be a cold day in Gehenna when I'd do that to Father or any priest or bishop ANYWHERE. These people will have a lot to answer for. Lord have mercy on them. Not good.

Interesting that the laity were the ones that were concerned about communion...

Some people don't learn the primary lesson in kindergarten - don't be a 'tattle-tale.' It's really shameful for adults to act this way - because they aren't acting like adults.

I'm of the opinion that the Greek Archdiocese (thought not necessarily the laity) have fallen into heresy and are no longer truly Orthodox. This just adds to it.
