You aren't buying votes, you are merely hiring people to collect names to put his name on the ballot. Walk the streets, go door to door, hang out at the grocery store, etc.

Most states have pretty modest signature requirements to get on the ballot. A few thousand at most. Some, though, will be quite difficult given the time constraints. In Florida, for example, he'd have to collect 13,000 valid signatures per day if he started right now. Michigan would take about 3,000 per day, and they have the added requirement that there be at least 100 from every electoral district. Those would be very difficult numbers to hit, even with a massive pile of money to throw at the problem.

I could be wrong, but the way I see this Trump is really upset in June with the way the campaign is going, he knows he is on course to lose, so they realize the only way to beat Biden at this point will be with a 3rd party candidate who will peel off a whole bunch of votes stirred up by the BLM protests. Someone who can appeal to millennials and be the anti "old rich white guy". Trump's campaign war chest will pay for this, his pacs will run the ads, and his organization will help Kanye get listed. The beauty in this is that they can run ads that are superficially for Kanye but are really an attack on Biden to peel votes away from him. Ads that would have 0 traction if run in support of Trump. It is a flanking move where Biden will be attacked on two different fronts. Now Kanye's ads can get as ugly as they want, they don't care if they turn off voters, whether they vote for Biden or just don't vote at all, either way it will work. Perhaps I'm too cynical. Maybe you guys are right and Kanye is a buffoon and Trump is over in the corner having a temper tantrum. Sleepy Joe can go back to sleep in the basement, don't worry, he's way up in the polls. It's like they say, Trump may just drop out, he knows he is going to lose.

2020Vision could mean a number of things. His tweet was cryptic enough that it doesn't necessarily point to running this year. He may just be laying the ground work for a future run.

It would go against Trump's public statements, but if this is coordinated between the two then it may be that Trump asked Pence to step aside and will put West with him on the ballot, setting up Kanye for a 2024 run.

If the goal is to just divert votes then he could run a write-in campaign. To actually count in some states paperwork is needed. But if the goal is diverting, it doesn't matter if it counts. But I am not sure how many that would divert from each side.

I have no problem with Kanye West running. Anyone but Trump.

I love to see Kim Kardashian as first lady though.

Kanye West is bipolar. He has mental health issues. The vast majority of people who have these kind of severe mental health issues aren't millionaires with countless adoring fans trying to deeply analyze the "underlying themes" of lyrics like "scooptidy-woop".

Kanye announced he wanted to run for president back in 2015.

The safe bet is to vote for Trump in 2020 because you know exactly what you will get. With Biden and West, who knows what will happen?
