what are you saying that Trump does not have?
What you claimed Biden doesn't have. If you think that Biden shouldn't be President based on his mental condition, then it stands to reason that you think Trump's mental condition is superior. Am I wrong?

Trump what?
Vomits out near incoherent word salad anytime he goes off scrip with my favorite being the uranium explanation:

“Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible.”

I did not say that Trump had not done and said things that were not wrong. I am saying that people are questioning whether Biden literally has the mental ability to be president not just having a filter as it were.

That was my fave on the "All Time Greatest Hits" as well. It made me think of a time years ago when I was teaching an intro chemistry class at a college in the Boston area. We got to the part about nuclear processes and I decided to spice things up a bit and talk about the atomic bomb (I'd just finished reading Richard Rhodes EXCELLENT book "The Making of the Atomic Bomb".) It was fun. Then about 2/3 of the way through my lecture one of the kids in the back mentioned that his uncle was an MIT nuclear engineer who had worked on nuclear weapons. That was interesting.

Biden is an awful candidate. It does not, therefore, follow that Trump is a good candidate. He's not even a better candidate.

No, you didn't say that, which is why I'm asking. If Trump isn't any more mentally fit than Biden, why does Biden's mental fitness matter? And if you think he's more mentally fit than Biden, what's your evidence? Because based on what I've seen of the two men, Trump is at least as bad, if not worse.

It's time to acknowledge what most of us thought was the case: Government can't control a virus. Coronavirus cases are increasing, not just in places that opened up 2 months ago. Back in May, in NYC 66% of hospitalizations were people who had been locked down. Government was never able to control the virus.

Two pieces of news struck me this week as indicative of the need for government to pull back and let the virus run its course. 38 MLB players and nearly 30 NBA players tested positive last week. These are people being forced to take tests by their employer, as opposed to people who think they're sick and are going to get a test. A team and a half of baseball players and 10% of NBA players who will play in their new format suggests the virus is incredibly widespread, way beyond the official positive numbers.

Deaths are not increasing substantially, they remained steady in June despite previous high numbers at the end of May. This remains a 99.6% survival virus. According to the CDC those under 55 have a 99.95% survival rate, those 55-64 survive 99.8% of the time and those 65+ survive 98.5% of the time. Those numbers may drop if the virus is as widespread as the numbers suggest.

It's time to end all restrictions on our lives. Ditch the placebo masks, ditch the social distancing and move on with life. This virus cannot be controlled by the state. Let it run its course naturally without us trying to flatten curves which will only serve to extend the economic and social misery the government has created with this virus. Enough is enough.
The Republican "death cult" in action - no sacrifice is too great for the DOW!

Too many Americans aren't wiling to make the sacrifice necessary to bring our rates down. I call that selfish.
This is it right here. It’s not Republicans, it’s not Democrats. It’s not Trump or any of the governors. Americans failed a national challenge and failed it pretty spectacularly compared to the rest of the world. We have no one but ourselves and our unwillingness to come together in the face of national crisis to blame for the sad state of affairs we now find ourselves in.

Encouraging people to limit exposure is WAY different than controlling people.

"Controlling people" seems to be your chosen rhetoric for science-based public policy.

Attitudes like yours scare me. Americans have become so socially irresponsible in their attitudes that I don't think American society can endure much more hardships.

Looks at the rest of the First World. Looks back at the US.

I think you're wrong.

It's American exceptionalism taken to its most absurd lengths: if we can't do it, it can't be done.

That's exactly the kind of thinking that got us blindsided at Pearl Harbor, and, with Donald at the helm today, there's an entire library of actions which will suddenly be declared "impossible."

People can't control a virus. Unless we all live in caves and never interact with each other, this and every other virus can be spread between people. God made us to be social.

Strange, then, how the rest of the Western world seems to be doing exactly that....bringing it under control...

Germany has been statistically flat for over a month, and with very low rates of new cases. On the order of 100 new cases a day. On a per capita basis we have more than ten times as many new cases a day.

Germany Coronavirus: 197,460 Cases and 9,085 Deaths - Worldometer

South Korea, the same:

South Korea Coronavirus: 13,091 Cases and 283 Deaths - Worldometer

Do you have any statistics that support this claim?

well it was down to 0 or near zero, and up to 40 now, no where near peak but it has gone up a SMIDGEN.

Even if the government is not mandating masks is anyone STOPPING you from wearing them?

If Trump and the Republicans had shown even the most basic consideration for human life they'd have spread the same message that the Democrats have, that wearing a mask and social distancing is a small sacrifice that will help save vulnerable lives. But no, even that tiny gesture was too much, the man in the Oval Office cared so much about how he might look in a mask that he refused to wear one, and that spread all down through the party.

Now masks are supposedly useless, social distancing is an insult to freedom and an attack on the economy and we’ve reached a point of such rampant stupidity that people are seriously suggesting that the most powerful, richest country on earth couldn’t possibly do anything to slow/stop a pandemic, and you should just let a few million people die for literally no reason.

America is beyond parody at this point.

Because America is quickly becoming a "failed state". Think about this description:

1. Strongman leader with populist tendencies who admires no one but other dictators
2. Legislature that largely rubber-stamps the strongman's desires (GOP Senators)
3. Third-world levels of income inequality
4. Rampant poverty
5. One of the most inaccessible healthcare systems in the developed world
6. World-leading rates of gun homicides and gun violence
7. Inability to deal with a virus while other DEVELOPED nations have flattened their infection rate curves
8. Riots and racial unrest

Personally if I were Canadian I would FEAR the upcoming collapse of the US. We are going to become economic refugees who are riddled with disease that have largely been controlled in the developed world.

We sound kinda scary!

As a canadian I'm more worried about the fact that while there has been attempts to extracate ourselves from your economy, a large part of our economy is based on yours, buying and selling. I mean there is a reason why as good as it was buying stuff from your country for cheap, most were worried about it during the financial crises.
