Texas and Florida are taking action against the uptrend of coVid-19 in their states, so far it doesn't appear as if Arizona has gotten the message yet.

All Texas bars will be required to close by 12 pm today, and restaurants will be restricted to 50% indoor capacity starting Monday.

Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order also shuts down rafting and tubing businesses and requires outdoor events larger than 100 people to be approved by local officials.

“We want this to be as limited in duration as possible. However, we can only slow the spread if everyone in Texas does their part,” Abbott said in a press release announcing the new order.

“Every Texan has a responsibility to themselves and their loved ones to wear a mask, wash their hands, stay six feet apart from others in public, and stay home if they can.”

Florida is taking action as well,

A top Florida official announced the state is closing its bars after reporting a record-high level of new coronavirus cases.

Halsey Beshears, the head of Florida’s department of business and professional regulatinon, said the policy would be in effect “immediately.”
The announcement came less than an hour after the Florida department of health reported that the state confirmed 8,942 new cases of coronavirus yesterday, breaking a record set earlier this week.

Seems the uptick is in younger people getting tested and coming up positive. Crowding in bars and on the street protests did not help much. Maybe protest by Zoom would have been better and virtual bars. ;)

Wow! The reasonable near-best thing, maybe all they could do short of the best thing of mandatory mask wearing which they can't really manage politically I think (unless the deaths start to pile up in a big way, which lags new infections by a few weeks).

Encouraging though, for Texans. (my native state, lived there 27 years)

The broadcast evening news (ABC, NBC, etc.) has been really compelling this week in part from these daily new cases records/trends, and the filling hospitals....

Well, that's going to continue.

Anyone should beware when there is someone that wants others to believe that all news is 'fake news' unless it's flattering news....

When someone does that, we should wisely begin to wonder why they want us to imagine all news that isn't flattering to them is 'fake'....

You know, the other day, I thought you were simply saying here some rhetoric, political maybe, and not what you really think.

But the next day I remembered and wondered if you might actually think mainstream news media like ABC News have been misreporting and claiming rioters were "peaceful protesters"?

You might be really thinking that...

If so, then you'd need to see this example of how ABC did report:

PEACEFUL PROTESTS DEVOLVE INTO CHAOS AND LOOTING
Video: Who are the people looting stores amid protests?

Lemme know you saw this, plz.

Here's an ABC News clip on youtube, which I can show right here on CF:

What started as peaceful protest turned violent with reports of vandalism and looting

Let me know if you see this.

They got tired of covering riots and calling it peaceful protests.

To try to keep this thread on topic, Pennsylvania now requires that masks be worn in public. The Commonwealth isn’t having the problems of Texas or Florida, but cases have increased significantly.

I wish we would just require masks in public nationwide.
