There are events like this that have occured. While we aren't at war, between battles against Russian speaking forces, Russian interference in our elections, and their intelligence operations targeting racial and political tension in the US; there clearly is an undeclared conflict going on, at least on the Russian side.

I don't know that I would describe it as "unite" so much as he has a huge blind spot when it comes to Russia. It feels like Vladimir Putin has something on the POTUS.

Quite the opposite probably - to keep the US bogged down in a conflict. If we have a truce with the Taliban, that means we can keep scaling down our presence. If they keep attacking us, then we're more likely to keep more resources committed.

Yeah, you have a point - just because it was in his briefings or just because he was told doesn't mean he had knowledge. After all, maybe Donald just wasn't paying attention at those moments....or he forgot.
